    Shrimp Provencale entree

A stunning newcomer to the Halifax dining scene! Apparently this Lebanese specialist has been open only 2 months. And thanks to my fellow Elite Yelpers I was able to find it as I searched for dining options for our Nova Scotia trip. The space is very pretty with dramatically high ceilings, stained glass above the bar and a pseudo open kitchen to boot. There are two dining spaces downstairs and several outdoor tables with some fire pits. We opted for an inside table and were seated in the back room which was plenty bustling. Lots of locals...the crowd was a good looking one at that. More important than the stellar vibe was the spectacular cuisine. Of note, the wine list was not expansive, but we selected the Ksara rose (Lebanese-who knew?!) which was a cab franc and Syrah rose. Delicious. We started with the cherry kabob balls and the Muhumarra served with plenty of puffed pita. Both were super tasty. But the cherry kabob balls were a highlight-the sauce was sooooo good, a refined cherry infused sweet and sour which was balanced and unique. It really worked. We also had the monk salad which was essentially their version of a caponata. It was also very yummy. For entrees, both the grilled calamari and the shrimp Provençale were home runs. The tiger prawns are large and grilled to perfection. The portions are quite ample and we were too full for dessert. Our server was a sweet young lady from the area. She was delightful. Overall, the food and atmosphere are 5 star. The staff is incredibly warm and tries really hard. They're still working out some very minor service issues which is the only reason this place doesn't garner an overall rating of 5 stars. Give it a few months though and I expect that it will deliver a 5-star experience. Highly recommend for foodie visitors and locals alike.

Just two of the eventual six dishes.

Dined here for brunch on a rainy July Friday. The place was empty when we arrived, but gradually filled up as the day drew on. The brunch menu is quite extensive, with numerous hot and cold options, meat and vegetables and plenty of mezza. We kind of over ordered, with three plates each and had enough for a decent take away for both. Everything was excellent, as was the service. A particular shout out for the Cherry Kebab Balls. Unbelievably wonderful sauce. A veritable symphony of flavours. Not the cheapest way to brunch, but it is in the heart of town after all and we didn't exactly hold back. A couple of first rate driest of the dry martinis to top things off, I think the bill was around $170 with tip. A must try for any fan of authentic Lebanese cooking.

Ciara, the bad tender has made my lunch a super experience. I ordered a glass of Argentina Melbec accompanied with chicken kabob. It's a nice ambiance.

Food was good, however service was slow, screaming children in the restaurant and I had added in the reservation if possible they could do something for us for our 5 year anniversary and nothing was mentioned or done at all.

Loved everything at this beautiful restaurant. Warm host and server and great menu. Wine list was awesome and had many of my favorite California wines, but I went with their wonderful local NS white. My favorite dishes were the muhammara and the cauliflower. Beautiful interior.

I found it was refreshing for a hot day and given the ingredients were less flavourful, the lobster's sweetness was more pronounce. Yet, there's something about the some fancy or warm version that was tastier. Who doesn't like garlic butter with lemon and chives thrown in for freshness? It was delicious, but a tad overcooked so the lobster was chewier than the cold version. If you're hungry, one roll will not be enough. Luckily, it comes with a quarter spear of pickle and bag of chips (they were out of coleslaw and potato salad by the early afternoon). Not necessarily filling, but enough to leave you satisfied. If you can hold off on diving into the roll, I recommend walking further down the harbourfront to find a table away from the main food area. While there was tables available in The Salt Yard, it's also a seagull pit. Finding a clean table can be difficult and you'll have to watch out for a wayward wing brushing close to your head. Not exactly the most relaxing way to have lunch, even if the lobster roll is good.
