My van overheated going up the 4 lane on a Friday night. Eagle towing took me to Paul Nolen at Auberry Garage. I felt comfortable leaving the van there for the weekend. When I returned on Monday morning my van was already diagnosed and parts ordered. I met some wonderful folks from the nearby area who were there to get their cars smogged and worked on. I was able to drive home to the coast Monday afternoon. Paul and his technician were very professional and I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. I set an appointment for an oil change (nothing more) at 10 am. Paul kindly took my appointment early upon request. I was grateful for that. The service was completed at 10 am and i was so happy it was done by that time, that i didnt examine the invoice before approving the charge. To be fair, he told me about the services he provided (rotating tires, checking tire pressure) before i signed. What he didnt tell me, was that he also replaced the oil filter, nor did he tell me that he was charging me for the tire rotation. Those extra services cost $86 and change that i didnt plan on. If this place were to provide the service requested, then the prices are fair, but the issue is, i dont want to stick around in a place im just passing thru to argue a charge like this. read more

On July 3 around 3p, on our camping trip, we made it to Shaver Lake, when 2 warning lights popped up. We got a few recommendations from locals and made our way back down the hill to Auberry. We were grateful for Paul squeezing us in for a quick consult as he ran the code error, ordered the part from Napa for the next day and showed me how to install the part. We definitely needed to the ignition coil as it did become an issue after leaving the garage that day. We were able to replace the part and enjoy the rest of our camping trip and get back home without issue. Closest mechanic I could find to Shaver Lake while on vacation there. Definitely worth driving down the hill to get to the shop (only about 30 minutes from Shaver). Z E R O stars. Atrocious customer service. Come in and get a piece broken off your vehicle worth more than the service preformed and then "banned from the premises " when you demand a refund. Guy changed my tire, & broke off my TPMS sensor. My TPMS sensor W A S working just fine before I took my car in there. He made absolutely NO attempt to let me know that the piece broke off, he set the broken piece in my cup holder! After he finished with my car I asked him a few questions about what was going on with the car and the tires, he made no mention of the broken piece. I called them back THAT same day just a few minutes after driving it home and noticing my light was not coming off and my car wasn't reading the sensor. My car takes about 2 miles to recalculate the tires PSI after a change, so I knew it wasn't normal. I called and spoke to Paul (the owner) he said the guy (I believe his name is Tristan) was on his lunch and I'd have to call back to speak with him since he was the one that actually changed the tires. OK understandable. I couldn't call back as I work over an hour away and had work for the following 4 days, I called back then. Spoke to Tristan and he finally told me about it. MIND YOU, I'm sure Paul mentioned that I called asking, did I get a phone call? Nope. Did they have my contact information on hand? YES, I left it with them because I dropped my vehicle off & they needed it to contact me once they finished. Which they did, no problem! He didn't even mention it on the work receipt which has my smog information & the tire change. ‍‍S H A D Y ‍‍‍ $70 to change my tires (I brought in my own tires), ended up with an $80+ part broken and I'll be taking it elsewhere for the repair OF COURSE so that'll tack on some labor too. LESSON LEARNED. I paid $121 for a smog & the tire change, I only asked for the $70 for the tire change. Dave's quoted me $50 and the receptionist lady was super kind and even let me know as soon as they'd be ready to take my car and about how long it'd be to service it. Would've gone with them but they couldn't get me in til a bit later as they were pretty busy. The Garbagé on the other hand was available immediately, a bit more but I figured the price was worth the time saved. read more

Although the locals raved about this place and Paul's work, I can say first hand that the prices are high and the customer service is low! Paul unfortunately has no people skills which ultimately lead to an over all bad experience. Had we not been pressed for time we would have gone over to Dave's auto shop but he was booked up and Paul's shop was the last resort. He became annoyed when we called to check on the vehicle and check pricing and told us we annoyed him by calling. He charged us 3 times what we would normally pay so when we called to see how we could possibly lower the price and check options, he was rude and abrupt and hung up on us. The work was done timely and the only thing I can compliment is that, however my normal mechanic gets it done faster and for cheaper and with a smile ! I would suggest going to a mechanic who values your business and not just your money! Also Paul please go and take some customer service courses! It may elevate your business! $600 bucks for a ball joint replacement is ridiculous!! Way to take advantage of the mountain! read more

I had an emergency fix required on my Nissan Xterra. It was almost 5PM. I called and asked if they can help me. A gentleman answered the phone and he was SO nice and accommodating. He said come over and they will take a look. They fixed the problem and I was on my way. I can't recommend them high enough. I know Auberry is out of the way, but if you are ever traveling Hwy 168 and need car type help don't call anyone else. I am so thankful I found them. Plus, they were more than fair on price, I was so thankful I gave him twice the amount he charged me. read more
