    Beautiful Setting !!!

This place is "Superb" !!! It is very cozy, beautiful ambiance and delicious treats. Excellent service was provided by the very lovely Natalie & Dakota...Thank you !!! My favorites from the "savory plate" were the three sandwiches: Chicken Salad, Egg Salad & Cucumber, the cheese swirl and the Parmesan cheese toast. From the "sweet plates" loved the cherry scones with butter and the bread pudding cubes, topped with whipped cream and half a Maraschino cherry (see pics). We went on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate my Mom's birthday and I was afraid parking would be very scarce...turned out I was wrong, after circling once we were able to find a great spot and the "bonus", it was FREE....the meters are off line on Sundays and Holidays...Downtown La Mesa has really changed/improved tremendously over the years and we will definitely be back to try some of the other restaurants...Enjoy !!!

Everything about the Aubrey Rose Tea Room is beautiful. From the decor and service to the delicious bites and wonderful tea options, it is more than tea. It is an experience to be shared with friends! There were little girls having tea, dear friends celebrating birthdays and the entire room is a celebration of all things beautiful and precious. Parking was easy and there was plenty behind the building. The atmosphere is top notch and service is impeccable.

Such a wonderful experience. Love the ambiance and the vibe inside. A lot of neat things in this area of La Mesa. Parking is public, and there were spots but I can see how it would get challenging at later times. Service was great. Food was great. Tea was great. Highly recommend this for anyone!

So love Afternoon Tea British style. Was in the area and was solo and was peckish and this place fit the bill. They were incredibly busy and it was rather loud as every table was full and so many guests were so happy to eat some delicious food and some unique teas. Weird they all had to yell at each other sitting at the same table. LOL For sure will return when I have some people with me to get larger services and more finger sandwiches. :-)

It is a yearly tradition for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his mom's heavenly birthday with a high tea date. This is our third year and every year we've tried a new tea room. This is by far the best tea room we've been to yet. Reasonable pricing, a nice variety in the tea menu and really nice savories and sweets. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The venue is just adorable and we had a little fun trying on hats. Favorite tea- strawberry kiwi Favorite savory - sun dried tomato pinwheels pinwheel Favorite sweet - whisky bourbon bread pudding

A recent tea with a now kindergarten girl did not disappoint. Packed full on a Saturday so noise a bit of an issue. Bookings give you two hours, so plenty of time. They were extra careful with the child, bringing small ice bits to lower the temperature of the tea, and making it caffeine free for her separately.

I booked a reservation for Mother's day weekend with my mom and sibling. We were escorted inside and brought to a table where they brought out their house Aubrey Rose Tea. They had a nice list of their teas which was unlimited. We tried 3 teas in total; our favorite was the Paris tea. The place is perfectly decorated and their tea sets were beautiful. My mom absolutely loved it. They brought out each of us a zucchini soup with a mini brie filled croissant. Followed by a filled 3 tiered server. They explained all the items on each tier. I would also like to say they were extremely accommodating with a nut allergy we had at the table!! I highly recommend this place as I have tried other high tea places and this has definitely been my favorite.

I stumble into this place during Oktoberfest. When to check it out and fell in love with all the decor and set up. I had to try their special which was a sampler for the 30 bucks. You got a pot of tea and mimosa and a few finger foods everyone was nice. The tea was delicious. The ambience was great. I will definitely come back with my friends next time.

One of my favorite things to do is go to tea! I loved this tea room as they had fantastic service, plenty of fun seating options for all different group sizes, and they have a great many options of tea. I do suggest making a reservation ahead of time because reservations do fill up quickly. I love their grand teas as it comes with the pot of tea with unlimited refills and the tower for tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Their sandwiches were good, but I do wish there were more sandwich options besides the two main sandwiches. The rest of the sandwiches were more biscuits. The scones and clotted cream were stellar though! Their fruit options were a delight and very fresh. The desserts were probably my favorite as they were all light yet memorable sweet flavors and styles. I came here with a larger group of friends so I did not get to try all of the teas I would have personally liked, but every tea I had was still delicious. I did get to have the Aubrey rose tea and that was my favorite option of the day. I'll have to come back to try the options I was looking forward to!

Food was delicious with plenty of offers for fresh teas in a variety of flavors. Ambiance during the week was nice and calm, plus they took care of us for my mom's birthday with a cute sign celebrating her day.

Ask the Community - Aubrey Rose Tea Room

Do you charge for toddlers? 3 years of age?

Good Morning Gerrie, tea time is generally recommended for children ages 5 and up, if you would like a children’s menu for your toddler the cost is currently $38.95 per child.

Some of the reviews mention gluten free options but the website says they are unable to accommodate gluten free -- just wondering if there are any gluten free options?

Thank you for your question. We are not a certified gluten-free kitchen. Please contact the tea room directly to determine if we can accommodate your restriction.

    What teas do you offer?

We offer a selection of 30 loose leaf teas, from traditional black teas, flavored black teas, green teas, as well as some naturally caffeine-free blends of tisanes and rooibos.

Do you have a max number of people per reservation for a large party?

I'm trying to make a reservation. Is it required that we order the same number of menus as members of the party? Asking because we'll likely be a party of eight that could do with maybe 5-6 of the adult menus. Thanks!

Our tea time is best enjoyed when everyone has their own menu as they are individual portions and many items are petite and difficult to split. However if you would like split a menu there would be a charge of $12.50/adult.

    Is there air conditioning?

Yes, we have air conditioning :)

    Do you have vegan options?

At this time we are unable to offer a full vegan afternoon tea. For our guests needing a vegan menu our current option would be a fresh fruit plate including a vegan sweet scone served with fruit preserves and a pot of tea.

    Is outdoor dining pet friendly?

Yes, we have had a few doggies join us for outdoor afternoon tea. Please let us know at the time of your reservation so that we can set a water bowl out. We look forward to seeing for tea time :)

    Is there a dress code?

We encourage you to come however you feel most comfortable, from athleisure to full period costumes, all are welcome here.

Afterward, I was greeted by the employee and ordered a taro milk tea with honey boba. I've been to this location a few times before and have always liked the chewiness and sweetness of their boba. I figured coming right at opening would mean I'd get the freshest batch, but that wasn't the case this time. The boba was mushy and not bouncy at all. It felt like it had been sitting for a while, possibly from the night before and kept warm. Considering boba is an extra $0.75, it was disappointing and didn't feel worth the add-on. Taro milk tea ($4.59 + 0.75 for boba) The milk tea itself was standard. It tasted like a typical taro milk tea made from a powdered mix. There were still some powder clumps at the bottom, but it wasn't a huge deal. A quick stir helped, and the flavor itself was fine. Service and ambiance The employee was very kind, and the ordering process was quick and smooth. I got my drink pretty fast. There's free WiFi, plenty of open tables, and outlets at some of them, which makes it a good spot to work or stay for a while. Music was playing overhead, but at a level where it was not distracting.

Whether the wait was 5 minutes or 20, we were standing at the pickup counter after receiving a notification that our order was ready, and no one acknowledged us until we spoke up. During a rush, communication still matters. I also want to clarify that I never claimed to have a dairy intolerance or allergy, because I do not. I simply stated that all of us became sick shortly after consuming the drinks and pastry we purchased there. I never claimed to know the exact cause -- only the timing of what occurred. What disappointed me most was not just the experience itself, but the defensive and dismissive tone of the response instead of a more professional acknowledgment of a customer concern. I genuinely wanted to enjoy this place because it is cute and came recommended to me, but unfortunately this was my experience.
