A Tea 7 has a really extensive menu, which was the first thing that stood out to me. They have a Specialteas section where every drink comes in one preset size (large) with the toppings already picked out. There's also a Limited Series, a coffee series, plus all the classic milk teas, fruit teas, and milk based drinks. You still have all the usual customization options for sugar, ice, and toppings. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Parking was another pleasant surprise. I originally drove past thinking I'd have to search for street parking, but they actually have a shared lot. It made stopping in a lot easier than I expected. I ordered the On Cloud 9, which is a jasmine green milk tea with cheese foam and brown sugar boba. The drink itself was enjoyable. The jasmine wasn't overpowering, which let the cheese foam stand out without completely taking over the drink. I also liked that the sweetness of the brown sugar boba balanced the slight saltiness from the foam. Flavor-wise, I'd say it held its own against other boba shops in San Diego. The only thing that held it back was the boba. It had almost no chew left. Instead of adding texture, it kind of disappeared after one bite because it was so soft. Boba is one of those toppings that can completely change a drink. Even with that, I'd still come back. The menu has way too many interesting drinks to judge the shop off one order. If the boba had been fresher, this easily could've been one of those drinks I'd order again. I think next time I'd branch out and try something from their Limited Series instead. read more

The tea for me is good for the price! I get my mango green tea a quarter sweet because it is already superrrr sweet. I like to add lychee jelly into most my teas. Here they have lychee jelly stars!! They're super cool when you shake your drink. They also don't have the weird film the other lychee jelly's have. The seating area is super cute and festive. They have lots of seating for you to stop by and set up your laptop. The bobaristas are always super nice and patient when I make multiple drink orders. read more

Drink was great but service took WAY too long. There was one barista working and it got busy. When I got here though there was only 1 person ahead of me and it took her 25 mins to get my drink because she kept taking orders..... that's insane. Please do better and be more efficient. read more

Parking lot had a good amount of spaces available even though it was a shared lot. We came around 6:15pm and they weren't busy at all. People started to file in when it was 6:40pm or so! If you are with the reward program make sure you input your number before you pay-- that way if you have any redeemable points you can put them to use! The place had AC which is great for a hot day. And if you want a spot to relax further. You do need a key for the bathroom, they give you one with a rice paddle attached. Reminds me of high school. Just wanted to also mention that the wall near where we sat had some boba splatters at the trim and milk tea drippings. I was with my friend so we got: - Lotus Milk Tea, 50% sweet, with Brown Sugar Boba: The lotus milk tea has a delicate and mellow floral taste. They give lots of brown sugar boba which gives it a delicious sweetness, that may slightly overtake the flavor of lotus. But this is one of A Tea 7's most popular drink according to one of the workers. It's a definite must try if you want something new. - Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, 50% sweet, with Grass Jelly: I think I am trying to convince myself I'm a roasted oolong milk tea fan but it's just not for me. Or perhaps if it was 75% sweetened rather than 50%. The grass jelly was light and refreshing, no need to chew -- just swallow. The roasted flavor lowkey reminded me of seaweed or a savory note. I've been coming here for years and it used to be my favorite spot, but recently the teas have been very weak in flavor and inconsistent. Not sure if the recipes were changed or staff aren't being trained the same, but it's unfortunately not worth going anymore unless the product quality improves again. read more

A 7 TEA! This place was listed for a pretty high rating and I was super excited to see how this will turn out! It was just about a 10 minute drive from San Diego State! Parking can be a hassle, it's in a small lot but shared with other stores too, so it can get crowded. The service took a bit, the server didn't come to us until after a couple minutes or so, and then we go out drinks! I decided to get the lychee green tea with boba, and my friend got the winter melon boba, with a total of $14. Not too pricey, but the quality wasn't the greatest. Boba was overcooked, the steaming of the tea was as well, and it had a very distinct taste in both of our drinks, kind of like a bitterness despite getting full sugar. Service itself was fast after ordering, we sat and got out drinks almost 3-4 minutes, and they had lots of decor, games, and I enjoy the new year's decoration! Very kind patient and friendly staff, who are willing to go over every component of every drink to ensure you get exactly what you're aiming for. The very first time we came here, the cups were sealed with some very thin plastic that broke and spilled our drinks all over ourselves and our car :( I'm glad they've now changed their cups and lids to something sturdier and less accident-prone. The drinks themselves are good and their brown sugar boba is very soft and sweet. The regular boba was harder and not as tasty so definitely opt for brown sugar boba when you can. For some reason all of their crème brûlée and sea salt foam has a hint of coconut milk flavor. I'm very sensitive to flavor so the combination of the coconut milk with my jasmine tea ended up tasting like Gorgonzola (blue cheese). I'm also not a fan of coconut milk in everything, which is why this time I opted for the only scenario where it makes sense: taro & Ube. There was so much good taro paste in this drink. $15 for 2 drinks is a bit pricey compared to other milk tea boba shops, but this is a luxury food. Service was always friendly each time we came. Came here because my little sister recommended it, and I'm glad we did! This boba shop was cute, with plenty of seating and lounge areas. The service was great, we were greeted upon arrival and assisted immediately. I saw this location on yelp and since I was nearby I decided to check it out. I thought parking was plentiful but it might have been the time of day. The inside is pretty nice, it has some tables and cute decor. The staff was very friendly and attentive, they made sure to greet all customers and offer any help if needed. My order: 1. Green Thai Tea with brown sugar boba- I didn't love the green thai tea, I normally get the regular Thai Tea, but I LOVED the boba. It was super soft and chewy. Sometimes you will get boba that is soft, but you can tell it's old and falling apart. 4/5 2. Mango milk tea with sea salt foam, mango star jelly and mango crystal boba - My niece thought this was uber delicious. 5/5 3. Crime of Passion with Grass Jelly. They have quick service and good quality ingredients here. As I was ordering with the cashier, the young girl behind the counter was speedily prepping my drink. I waited less than 5 minutes and it was cool to see her make the drink as well. I ordered the oolong milk tea- they have steeped tea instead of instant powder based drinks like lots of other places. They also allow adjustments to sweetness and ice levels. After enjoying my drink, I went back to order a second one to go for my partner. Unfortunately, they had already ran out of boba by 6 pm on a weekday. However, they had several other toppings and were quick to offer their favorite recommendations. First time was alright. Nothing special but nothing really bad. This last time, the boba is totally different - seems like the cook time was lessened as the boba was smaller and firmer. The part I disliked the most was that the boba was soooo sweet. It wasn't overly sweet like this the first time and it ended up making my entire drink too sweet overall. First visit we had the creamsicle and jasmine milk tea. The creamsicle was good, had a pretty nice flavor. The jasmine milk tea was alright flavor wise but too weak and watered down. Needed a stronger brew. I can't even remember what we had the second time. Not a good sign. This last time we had lotus milk tea and on cloud9. The lotus milk tea did not look like the photos posted by other yelpers. Others teas looked like whiteish beige but mine was dark orange beige. The taste was o.k, nothing special but as mentioned earlier - way too sweet from the overly sweet boba. The on cloud9 drink had a jasmine base. Tasted nice but again not fully enjoyable because it was like diluted jasmine tea. I remember initially the boba here was a nice size, cooked nicely with a good level of softness and chew. It was also a good level of sweetness. But unfortunately now it's firm, smaller and way way too sweet. I will say that it's nice that they offer dairy alternatives such as soy, oat and almond. They have fresh milk as well. The scent of the cleaning product used here has been evident every single time we visit. Smells like fabuloso and is very overpowering which for me makes the place less enjoyable because I personally find it more enjoyable to visit a boba shop that smells only of the tea. Again, I didn't know this place was here since I didn't know about Sushi Factory next door. But my students wanted to go here after sushi and I thought, why not? Definitely did not know what to get...I think the owner said if it was my first time, try a specialty tea. Cool fun place to come for hanging out w/ my G-daughter after school! Plenty of yummy boba drinks from which to choose! I love the seating areas for hanging out. It's so cute. And there are games available to play if you want. The service is friendly and they do a good job with customizing drinks as needed. Staff are friendly and willing to answer and questions we had. We were able to ask them if there were any drinks without tea/caffeine because we wanted to get something toddler-friendly. They have fresh milk options that worked out for us. Noticed staff are also very aware of how crowded it's getting.
