Definitely disappointed in how this practice has been running. I have been a client for 10 years and I can understand why the staff keeps leaving. Recently, I had an experience that sealed the deal. If your dog is ever diagnosed with Coccidia, please make sure all of your dogs get treated, this is a highly contagious parasite to all dogs and all dogs in the family should be treated, regardless of a fecal test result. I asked questions and asked about treatment, but nothing changed, instead I got a call from the manager because the staff had hurt feelings because I provided some feedback about lacknl of response to my questions. My dog died because of their inaction and lack of compassion. My anger is boundless. I hold their cruel staff accountable for the depression that cripples me. I am Michael Pearson. I have been bringing my cat to Auburn Animal Center for 3 years now. But when I called because my cat, who is SO important to me,.has a severe ear infection and I'm told that they can't get me in until late August is to me unacceptable. When I asked what am I supposed to do I was told to bring him to the emergency clinic. The point that my vets office told me to bring my cat to the emergency clinic which has extraordinary extra costs to bring them there. I took her advice, because what else was I supposed to do. And so far I have brought my cat twice to the emergency clinic and have still yet to be seen. The 1st time I was in the car waiting for 4 hours. My cat had a severe anxiety attack and he started panting uncontrollably and I've never seen his chest breathe so fast in my entire life. I had to immediately take him home to calm him down. The next night I brought him and this time we waited 2 1/2 hours and was then told that I would have to try back again the next day because they were closing and couldn't see any more pets (besides what was already inside) So here we are a week later and my cat STILL hasn't been seen by anyone and has been traumatized twice. I have been doing what I can with over the counter medications and I have called every other vet within 3 towns. My cat is very uncomfortable and extremely anxious in cars and the6ly did help me out with anxiety meds for him for his road trip to another vet. They are a good vet but definitely need to try to open appointments for situations such as this. read more

So my dog has a mass and needs a biopsy & Lewiston emergency vet sent over the records three times! I called them two weeks ago and they said" the vet will contact you! Two weeks later haven't heard anything! Last night I wrote a review! First thing this morning they called me about the review never even asked about my dog! I wouldn't recommend anyone to them! I had an emergency with my dog Rugar; no one would see us right away due to Covid. I called the Auburn Animal Center and they took Rugar in the same day as an emergency. My dog saw Dr. Wehr. They were prompt, informative, and their fees were average or better. I will definitely be returning for Rugars routine care and and any other care he may need in the future. Dr. Kinney is hands-down one of the best veterinarians I've met. Besides being incredibly knowledgeable and empathetic to your pet's needs, he also takes into account your family's finances and makes recommendations accordingly. He has cared for the dogs, cats and exotic breeds of many people I know, has been quick and accurate in diagnosing Lyme disease and dogged in assessing difficult chronic health conditions. He's a great vet and a good person. I highly recommend him. read more

I have had multiple issues with this place. They are not very accommodating to people with children and animals. I have my hands full with a baby and a dog and they never offer to assist with helping with the dog. It is definitely not a place to go that is there to show their customer service skills. I mean during Covid they took the animal in the building and was there to help in every way possible to keep everyone safe and to make life easier for people with babies. They came up with ways to pay over the phone so you could stay in the car. But when I asked if I could do that or they could come out to me versus me waiting in a lobby with a screaming baby and a dog that can't sit still cuz of anxiety they were not accommodating at all. I don't suggest this place cuz to me they are about money and not families and their pets. I loved it when DR Kinney was there. But they have gone down hill since than. I will be switching offices. I want to give a zero rating but it isn't there. read more

I want to start by stating I have always had very positive experience with Dr. Kinney. However, the last two phone calls to this office have been answered by employees that really didn't care about Socrates, my senior puppy, who was in heart failure. The first time I called was when Socrates was coughing and throat started to swell. I was told to "keep an eye" on him and bring him to Strawberry Ave Emergency Clinic. Luckily, I did and the Dr. was able to drain 110 ml of blood from his pericardium and buy time. Socrates stabilized over the weekend and now shows signs of possibility stage 2 heart failure, something easy enough to manage with heart medicine and furosemide. After spending the weekend researching his condition and treatment options, I called at 8:02 sharp to schedule a checkup with Dr. Kinney and explore these options. The woman that answered was not willing to schedule an appointment, AGAIN. I stated I was interested in heart medicine and giving him more time to LIVE. She told me I was to follow up with a specialist, she then began to read the discharge instructions to me and I stopped her rather pedantic tone in which she so smugly started reading it back to me. I said I can read and asked her to clarify her statement, I said so you're telling me if I want my dog to see his veterinarian and start medication you're not going to schedule an appointment?? She said Dr. Kinney wasn't in the office today, I said I didn't care. She again started telling me I was instructed to go to a specialist, I very firmly told her I WILL be scheduling an appointment his Vet and she interrupted me to tell me I could schedule an appointment when I was nicer to her.... I then told her I would be reviewing the office and she told me she was the MANAGER, so basically, she can do this and prevent pet parents from scheduling appointments if we offend her thin skin. I would suggest Dr. Kinney re-educate her on just what does and doesn't constitute as NEGLECT AND UNUSUAL CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. Secondly, whatever ego struggles going on in this office have zero to do with the personal beliefs and choices pet parents have to make for the longevity of a ailing pet. Their job should be well separated from a pt's right to live and die in dignity. As it is, Socrates suffered longer than he needed to because of the veterinarian advice these employees give over the phone. They're not Vets, their poor advice already almost killed Soc. Now, his need for medicine, to possibly give him a few extra months is in jeopardy because of the Managers ego problem and she expects me to apologize to her in order to schedule a CHECKUP! That's just Sadistic. I literally cannot even give him heart health food without a Rx from his Vet... After scheduling him an appointment with another Vet for Monday & being told straight out that Socrates needs his medicine for the remainder of his life, until it's time to say goodbye, I called the State Animal Abuse hotline and was told to absolutely take this directly to the board of licensing and file a complaint. Unfortunately for Dr Kinney, he employs this woman (and whom ever I spoke to last week that gave me medical advice for Socrates over the phone without a license) and the complaint will have to be filed against him. I regret this very much but because of the severity of the situation and unethical cruelty to Socrates' vital care, I'll be following up with the complaint after this is posted on yelp. There is no justifiable reason to deny Socrates his medicine over tone politics and my right to facilitate his care as I would my biological children. Shameful. read more

Don't waste your time even calling this place unless you want to catch attitude for the ironically named joy. The receptionist's parents clearly had a sense of humor naming her joy. Called twice while looking for a vet for my cats. Spoke with the same nasty woman both times. How can I catch attitude because I inquired about some details as far as services for my cats?? Guess you guys don't want new patients. But from the looks of the other reviews, you don't want your current ones either. If you guys actually read your reviews than you would know how bad your customer service is and remove that nightmare from answering phones. Lost my business and I'm sure several others. Some of the staff at Auburn Animal Center need to receive lessons in customer service! A month ago, I made an appointment with this clinic to have our dog neutered this week. After driving 12 hours to arrive for the appointment, I was told that the clinic did not have our dog on their schedule and that they were overbooked for surgeries that day. I was told that normally the second vet would be able to "take the overload" but that he had decided to go on vacation. On Saturday, the office staff said they would try other clinics in the area to see if they had a surgical opening and that I would receive a phone call Monday "either way" about a possible arrangement. Since I was out and had not received a call by mid-afternoon, I stopped by the office to inquire about the status. There were different people working the front desk from when I had been in the office on Saturday discussing the problem. As I did not know if this girl knew the background of the problem, I tried to explain that apparently the appointment had somehow been "lost" or failed to be finalized in their system and I had been expecting a phone call about the next step. I was told the tech who was to call me had been busy all day. I pointed out anyone could have made the call. I was told that the whole issue was my problem, not theirs. Yet, they were the ones who had lost the appointment. Therefore, all of my animals and I will never use this vet! read more

Auburn animal center is owned by a greedy, disrespectful company called vetcor. My dog got neutered by Dr. Kinney and ended up needing to go to the emergency clinic because his scrotum was filling with blood and dripping blood on the floors. The emergency clinic had to do another surgery to fix the slipped ligature. I got a different vets opinion from a different company not owned by vetcor, as well as the emergency clinic and BOTH vets say it was a surgical mistake. All we asked was that they pay for the emergency fee which was $933, They could keep the $200 we paid to fix him. They said word for word "shit happens, we're being reasonable in even trying to cover half of the $1,200 you've spent" . I asked how I'm responsible for paying for the extra bill and she then continued on about Kinney's reputation as though that means something to somebody who's dog could have died over this. They're trying to say none of the vets did anything wrong and that the tie somehow slipped on its own magically. It's completely unreasonable and selfish! I even told her it was ruining our credit but she was completely unsympathetic and is standing by a vet who hurt my dog and making ME pay for it! I will NEVER EVER go to them again, or any vet that is owned by them because clearly they're unprofessional and have vets who are too arrogant to own up to their mistakes. read more
