My mother was on the Board of the ASPCA back in they day so I always had a love for animals growing up. Never knew I had to cut my cats nails. Never had to when I growing up and all of my cats were fine. Brought my cat here and they accused me of animal abuse and said they would adopt the cat from me. I was beyond insulted and stopped bringing my cats here. I brought them to another Vet and was told I didn't nothing wrong. Your cats should be able to keep their nails short by scratching posts etc, which I have, but sometimes it doesn't help. The new Vet made me feel at ease. My mother (sometimes she brought him to appt) and I were also accused of putting my Pug in a hot car because of the anxiety he would get going to the Vet each time. I always cool off the car before putting them in and know to never leave a dog or any animal in a hot car during a warm day. I get that you have to be aware of some Vet owners but we had been coming to this place for years. With all our cats and dogs. I'm glad I left and found Lisbon Road. They are fantastic!!

I was incredibly composed considering my dog was dying in my arms. She had zero compassion and seemed annoyed to be at work and was short and snarky with me while asking me ridiculous questions that could have waited for when I arrived. NOT the type of person that should be in an emergency setting between her rudeness and lack of urgency and empathy. Once my dog died they rushed us out of there and discouraged us from getting testing of cause of death done. I think they were lazy and didn't want to bother with it so quickly talked us out of it/wouldn't tell us how much it would cost. Made us decide without giving us time to think about it. We were talked out of it and now I wish we did it. Shouldn't be discouraging people and rushing them into those kinds of decisions. The vet wouldn't even come in to talk to us to tell us what happened even tho he was right behind the door and had no other patients there and we specifically requested a minute of his time cus he was with dog at death. No excuse for that

I brought my pup in at 3 am because of crying most of the night. He does have a known UTI with struvite crystals and a urine pH of 9. At first she wanted to do an x ray and ultrasound to look for stones. Uhh. Ultrasound would've seen both. No need for the xray. I nicely suggested starting with the ultrasound. ANYTIME I tried at all to advocate for my pup, I got attitude and talked to as if I knew absolutely nothing. I also asked if she could prescribe something to lower the urinary pH, as that would be a double approach to help resolve the infection. She threw her hands up, claimed that my asking questions and seeking clarification was "abusive" and "she's not taking that at 3 am" It's basic infection cycle. Interrupt the cycle at as many points as you can, get quicker resolve. If you need emergent care, steer clear of this place. Go right to Portland. Like she suggested we should've. First time here, and absolutely will NEVER be back nor recommend ANYONE else. Imagine claiming someone's being abusive because they don't want to answer questions as to their thought process in the care of your animal. Absolutely insane

I sent the rx to Chewy and they refused it saying that vet no longer worked there. Chewy said they just needed his current vet to call them to confirm the rx or fax a new one. She refused and said we had to come in personally to get the new rx (wanted us to buy it there $$$$$$). They didn't care if my dog recieved his proper medication, just wanted the money. Then my dog needed to have bloodwork done and is a gentle giant, not a mean bone in his body, and she said he would have to come back and wanted me to give him a total of 18 pills, yes 18. to basically knock him out. I refused to give him all 18 and only gave him what his former vet there always prescribed, which was 4 Trazadone at night and 4 that morning. When we took him to his appt. they refused to give him the shot he needed or even try to get his blood because we didn't give him all 18 pills! They expect you to pay 18.00 extra per visit supposedly toward the vet techs education. If we are all paying that much toward their education then maybe they need to go back to school to learn how to quickly and efficiently draw blood from a big ole teddy bear dog that wouldn't hurt a flea. So, I drugged my dog for nothing and now he is home dry heaving coming down off the Trazadone I gave him! The receptionist needs to learn how to smile and greet patients as well.

Our dog was diagnosed with cancer and declined rapidly, which was heartbreaking for us. Dr. Radding and her staff assisted with us with medicines to extend our dog's life and make him more comfortable. When the time came to make the toughest of decisions and send our dog to heaven the level of care he received was more than we could have ever ask for. Dr Radding made what is a terrible experience as calm and gentle as possible. She clearly cares for both the animal and the owner's needs. They worked us through IVDD with conservative treatment including accupuncture for our mini-Dachshund. They cried with us when we had to put our pets down. They were an amazing team. Now, I get scolded for choosing an appointment on their booking website even though it is showing open because "those are reserved for emergencies" and don't get a call back for hours while they "get permission" if I can bring my 14 year old dog in for a rabies vaccine and senior wellness check. Oh, she's been a patient for 14 years, her whole life. This is NOT Freeport Vet anymore. When I sent an email with details and suggestions and solid reasons why we were choosing to part ways, I got back a response signed, "Carevet of Freeport", not a call from the vet, not even a name...It is shameful and sad to see the changes in this business because that's what it is, just a business. You don't build a long term business on brushing off 25 year long clients and just letting them go.
