It has been a roller coaster at this mall lately, but they are trying to improve it. Stores have been leaving, such as Books a Million and Bath & Body Works, but new stores have come such as Spirit Halloween. A few more are set to open, and some of the longer time staples such as R Card Place have moved into bigger and better spaces, which is promising. There are some great value stores in here, especially if you're shopping for shoes, sneakers, boots, etc. There are two really affordable shoe stores. GNC is in here. A video game repair place. A nail place. JC Penny's is still here. A great arcade. Miller Fitness gym and 7 Jam a really good new restaurant. The hours aren't great, and a food court would be very welcome, but they do host Santa here and have some craft fairs. It really is a solid mall. read more

This place is a time capsule. The decor must not have been updated since the late 80s. It really took me back. Bathrooms are gross. Large shoe store, JC Penny, Spencer gifts. I didn't see a food court. Decent amount of stores, though for a place that looks like it should be abandoned. Super sales. Everything was 50% off or more in all the stores. I thought maybe it was going out of business but some of my family that's local said it's always been here. Appears to be a Goth counter culture hang out. Either that or NIN was in town. read more

I'm giving the Auburn Mall one star, but don't let that fool you. I love this place...not for what it is now, but for what it used to be. Back in the day, this was where you went to hang out with friends, wander the halls, and kill time. The mall never had a food court, and the dining options were limited, but somehow that never stopped us. I remember doing my Christmas shopping here every year and visiting Santa as a kid. The decorations weren't anything special, but it was still part of the season. The Maine Mall was always a better option with more stores and choices, but it was almost an hour away, so Auburn Mall was what most of us used. The anchors were JCPenney, which somehow is still here, and Porteous, which eventually became a TD Bank office. Most of the smaller stores are long gone. A few businesses remain, but many empty storefronts are now used to display what looks like the mall owner's personal collection of motorcycles. It feels less like a mall and more like someone's very strange private museum. Walking through the mall today is like stepping into a time capsule. The interior still has that unmistakable 1990s vibe, from the floors to the lighting to the decor. It's like no one ever thought to update it, which is both charming and a little sad. The place feels frozen in time, stuck somewhere between the past and the present. The entrance still sports that unmistakably 1990s sign. It's so outdated it's basically retro now. If a movie studio wanted a location for a 90s mall scene, this would be perfect as is. The Auburn Mall isn't really a mall anymore. It's a nostalgia trip with quiet hallways and plenty of memories. One star for what it is today. A thousand stars for what it once was. read more

Back in the day I remember the Auburn Mall, full of customers and the shops were so busy. Today it's a different story. They still have a JCPenney's, a book store, a nail salon, a couple shoe stores, a used furniture store, two restaurants and I even saw a shop full of motorcycles! My favorite shop is Maurice's. The sad part is how many vacant shops still remain. Plenty of parking and the mall is neat and clean. read more

I've been coming to this mall since the early nineties (maybe even longer). Many of the store fronts still stand (R.I.P DEB) tho they are filled with other businesses or unused mall equipment. We entered in the afternoon to get some steps in (the freezing rain wasn't doing it for us outside). Upon entering there was a set of bathrooms, a gatorade machine ($1.75 each), and quarter candy machines galore. The businesses that were open had some mega sales going on, others looked vacant. The saddest vacant business I'd say is the candy counter (still standing tho completely empty) near the heart of the mall. The Dream Machine has been transformed into a huge arcade (they had a $5 pizza deal going on the day we were in), the J.C. Penny has a mini Sephora inside, and an old staple for me Papa Gino's - is now Pierette's serving up pastries, creton, pizza, soups and more. Bath & Body works appeared to be holding on strong with tons of traffic and so many sales (some up to 75% off). What was CVS, Deering Ice Cream, and a slew of other businesses is now an Orange Circuit Fitness. I caught a glimpse of some of the equipment tho didn't see anyone working out. The mall itself was clean, the islands of plants were well maintained, and it made for a great indoor walk. I'll definitely be back to get more steps in on another visit. read more

Nice that this place is getting more traction and events and stuff going on here lately! I wish for it to co tongue and not be mainly a storage rent a space center like it has been and is some haha still- my mom grew up having it be the place to hang out and malls need more love read more

I remember how exciting it was to get a mall in our little Auburn town. Of course I was a teenager and The Dream Machine was the most happening place! Times sure have changed. Stores come and go so quickly now. It's sad to see everyone shopping online. The Auburn Mall still has some fight in her. She has plenty of parking, and a new little French restaurant inside. It's in the heart of Auburn, easy to get to. I don't know why stores can't stay open. Maybe the high rent? The only reason I'm giving 3 stars because stores are always leaving. read more

Definitely feels like a blast from the past, however I don't particularly dislike that. I know thats not their "theme" but kind of like what they ended up with overtime of not remodeling. But I think if they wanted to save the place they should roll with it, instead of having different time periods here and there maybe pick to a specific one like the 70s and turn it into a real deliberate blast from the past, the place definitely has potential and i'm sad to see how much of a ghost town its become, I don't think it should be given up on. But as far as shopping goes, there aren't many stores, I suppose it would be a nice place to take your kids to blow some time but shopping wise there are better options read more

The mall feels depressing; half of the store spaces are vacant. The stores that still stand are somewhat fun to browse in, however, it might be a better idea to stay home and shop online. You'll have more luck finding what you're looking for, and you won't waste a trip to a dead mall. read more

Old mall that is trying to make it. It has actually gotten better in the past few years. There is still a JC Penny's with a Sephora in it. Other than that, the main anchor is a TD Bank call center. It also has a Papa Gino's pizza restaurant, Books A Million, Olympia Sports, Bath and Body Works, a couple discount shoe stores and some other small businesses. It is very dark and dated inside, needs to be brighter and happier inside. There is also a slot car racing place, but it was closed at 4 pm on a Thursday. All the vacant spaces have Harley Davidson racing motorcycles in them, which is wierd. There were a few people in the mall when we were there, which is good. read more

I don't really care what anyone says negative about this place. Yes, it is literally like walking into the past and that is why I love it! I never have to look for a place to park and I never have to fight the crowds or wait for someone to help me find what I need. This is literally a stress-free zone. This place is so outdated. There are more closed stores than there are open. It has so much potential, sad to see such a literal waste of space. It's a very depressing atmosphere as there are more employees working in What few stores are left than actual shoppers. It's like a bad twilight zone. This place gives me the creeps and reminds me of a post zombie apocalyptic world. There's literally nothing inside besides jcpenny, papa Gino's, thatchers and a jewelry store. I haven't been here in a few years but wow, very depressing. Upon entry you'll notice a lack of activity. There are a few scavengers but mainly at Spencer's gifts. As you walk through the mall you start seeing all the stores that have closed and stores that will most likely be closing. I remember when this mall was a thriving place to hangout, but is now a reflection of a dwindling economy. read more

Tiny. Also doesn't open until 10. They have multiple shoe stores, jcpenney, a few game stores, a Claire's, and not much else. Nothing fancy here, but a fine place to get some sneakers. You'll have to go to Augusta to get anything special. Plenty of gum vending machines. read more

This place STINKS. What kind of mall doesn't have bathrooms? They eliminated the one bathroom they had in there.

This mall is very low class by today's standards and the owners have been struggling for years just to keep it open. The TD Bank call center is one of the anchors, occupying space once occupied by Porteous & later Steve & Barry's. TD Bank, with the high rent they pay for their space, is probably one of the only factors that even keep this mall afloat. More than 50% of the store spaces are currently vacant & most of the decent stores that once occupied space in the mall have closed, including Gap, FYE, Wilson's Leather, amongst others. JC Penney is the only other anchor & their days may be numbered. Deb Shops & Radio Shack will soon be closing their locations in this mall. The mall itself has been for sale for at least 10 years by its owners & as a result hasn't seen a facelift or renovation since the 80's, so it has a very 80's look to it inside & out. Many of the vacant shop spaces are occupied by collectibles, such as motorcycles, owned by one of the owners of the mall. My giving this venue 2 stars is very generous. read more

Is a very small mall but local small businesses trying to make a go. Had a Santa and a family fun center, slot car race track and a video game store with tv's in the back that you can rent. Great place to bring the kids to kill a afternoon. read more
