I used yelp to find this plumber yesterday. Dave answered his phone and said he would be over either before noon or late in the afternoon. Since he didn't come before noon I figured he'd be over later. Once 3:30 came and went I started calling and texting. Dave answered his phone on my third try at 4:55. He told me his job ran long and he would come to my house today. We agreed on a 1 :00 to 1:30 window today. He did not show up. He did not call. I gave five stars only because there were not six. Dave and crew came over after being referred by another plumber who couldn't tackle the difficult job. For years we suffered with 7 basement window wells that would back up during periods of heavy rains. The house is 68 years old and was custom-built by the original owners who neglected to map the drain lines. Dave and crew were able to discover that the drain lines terminated at a retaining wall installed by a subsequent owner, preventing the line from draining. After heavy-duty snaking and camera inspection the drains ran clear! No more basement flooding. Dave's prices were competitive and consistent with the difficult job done. Thank you Dave. read more

I was very impressed with Dave for the following reasons: 1. Availability - Called him late on a Saturday afternoon and he called back the next morning to say he could come by and look at the problem. He was there by 11 after working on another job before mine. 2. Skills - This guy KNOWS what he's doing. I had really serious sewer problems and he methodically worked through diagnosing and then fixing all of the issues. 3. Technology - Dave has invested in the equipment he needs to EFFECTIVELY and EFFICIENTLY handle sewer problems. 4. Attitude - Let's face it, working on sewer problems isn't the most glamorous job, but Dave took care of business with a smile on his face and a very pleasant demeanor. I had called thinking all I had was a clogged toilet. I took him under the house and showed him the drain pipe for the toilet in question. In 5 seconds he tapped the pipe and said "you're full" meaning the sewer was completely backed up into the house. He then located the outside cleanout and determined that it was actually flowing so slow that the sewage was seeping out of the cleanout and into my garden (yikes). He then snaked down into the sewer and found a funky connection into the main sewer and roots upon roots clogging the pipes. Next he put a hydrojet into the pipe and blasted most of the roots out so he could run his camera down the pipe and actually see what was going on. He called me over the look as he pushed the camera down the pipe. He showed me every issue with the system. When he determined there were still more roots that needed to be cleared out, he put the 'root ranger' nozzle on the hose and blasted down the sewer with that device, which completely cleaned out the pipe. Afterward, he put the camera down again and showed me. It was completely clear and the water was flowing perfectly! After clearing everything out, he recommended putting root killer into the pipe to delay the recurrence of the roots, which I had him do. He even has a detection system that enables him to push the camera down the pipe and, when he locates a problem, he can use a metal-detector-like unit to determine exactly where and how far down the problem is under the ground. I feel extremely lucky to have Dave cross my path last week. We had sewage backing up into our home and gurgly pipes. After some investigation the pump in our lift station had stopped working (I didn't even know I had a lift station or what one even was!). I called a septic company and scheduled them to come suck out the sewage that had backed up. I then called Auburn Pipe to arrange them to look at my pump. They too were gracious, but overbooked for the day, so they recommended Dave @ Auburn Plumbing and that is when the magic happened. Dave took the time to ask me a ton of questions up front, he actually came by my house ahead of the septic company to check out the situation because he felt possibly I didn't need the septic cleaning and wanted to save me some money if he could. He confirmed that yes I needed it and he coordinated his arrival time around it. He showed up with all the right tools and parts. He was incredibly genuine, kind and funny. He was patient as well. He let me stand there and watch the entire process and ask him a million questions. I felt like an inquisitive 6 year old, but he didn't seem to mind. I truly felt he had my pocketbook in mind and was doing what was best for me, not trying to make money off my crappy misfortune (pun intended). This is a genuine man who is very good at what he does. His phone was ringing off the hook when he finished my job. He was extraordinarily gracious to each person he spoke to trying to troubleshoot over the phone and making arrangements to take care of their needs. I cannot recommend this man or his company enough to anyone having plumbing issues in the greater Auburn area. He is a true gem and I am lucky he was able to come help me with my issue. read more

Great crew; nice and professional! We've had them at least twice, for emergencies (one on Christmas Day!) and other work, and they've always come through for us. Reasonable rates (much lower than some others), fast service. I will certainly use them again. Well, if you read this you will find that I recommend that you use Dave and Auburn Plumbing if you need a plumber. Kind of funny since I have never used his services. I played a music gig way up in the foothills. I stupidly left some equipment there. It would have been about a 3 hour round trip for me to get my stuff. In desperation I started calling random businesses in that area to see if anyone was coming my way. I happened to reach Dave. Just out of kindness, he offered to go out of his way, grab my stuff, and take it to a place that would be easy for me to get to. When I called to thank him afterward I could just tell by talking to him that he is a guy that genuinely does his best. You have to put a lot of trust in a plumber. Their work is hidden inside walls and under houses where no normal person ever goes. You need to trust that, when your plumber is crawling around under there and is very uncomfortable, that he cares enough about his work and his reputation and his customer that he does the best job that he is capable of. You need a guy with the integrity to do the job right no matter what. There are probably other good guys in the Auburn area. But I know Dave is one and I know how rare that really is. So yeah, I suggest you use Auburn Plumbing if you need a plumber. If he would treat me this way, a guy that will never be his customer, how will he treat you? read more

I had a shower that only sprayed cold water. I thought the problem might be adjustment of the shower valve. After looking at it, I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I called Dave of Auburn Plumbing (because of the good reviews on Yelp). I asked him if I could explain the problem and maybe he could point the way if the solution was easy so that I wouldn't actually have to call out a plumber. Dave went above and beyond that. After my description of the valve and the problem he ask a couple of quick questions then identified the valve as a Moen Posi-Temp. He said that they can fail and I only needed to replace the cartridge which I could get locally. He had me send a photo of the valve with the cover off so that he could verify which cartridge it was and tell me how to disassemble and reassemble it. I got the valve cartridge and followed Dave's excellent instructions. The shower works perfectly. I asked Dave if I could pay for his time and he declined. Dave even called me back in the evening to ask how it went! read more

Thank goodness for this company. I came home one Friday night and had a sewage smell in the bottom floor of our house. I called Dave (twice for emergency per his instructions) and he returned my call immediately. He tried to help me on the phone by having me check a few things. He diagnosed what the problem was, agreed it was urgent, and came first thing Saturday morning to fix it.
