This vet is absolutely wonderful. They are very gentle with my two pugs, even my little boy who gets so freaked out over nail trims.

We have a large (100+ pounds) 2 year old rescue pup who is great at home, but struggles with…read moreoverarousal around new people and other dogs. After our local training place closed we were looking for other options and committed to positive reinforcement training. Unfortunately a lot of trainers use aversives, especially with large strong dogs. We were so excited to find Julia, and after our meet & greet we were confident she was a good choice. Julia did a 2 week board & train with our dog while we were traveling, mainly focusing on leash skills and practicing calm behavior around exciting things. We noticed an immediate improvement, but have also been continuing to work on the training at home after our follow up. I'm happy to report that we are continuing to see improvement using Julia's methods.

As an IAABC-ADT and Family Dog Mediator, I’m committed to ongoing education and science-based methods, so you always receive thoughtful, up-to-date guidance tailored to your individual dog. 12/10 reccomend the groomer ROB. ANXIOUS Staffy / Pitty…read morefriendly He's the only one my dog will let cut her nails. It's so funny because I've tried multiple different vets, and she won't let anyone touch her... they've even tried gabapentin and trazodone because she was so "anxious". Rob at sumner vet doesn't require any meds, and they allow me to pay after the service is completed incase Dremel doesn't work or she throws a tantrum and doesn't let him do it at all. I always call ahead to see his schedule for the week, they do walk in nail trims 10-4pm.

I am deeply disappointed with the emergency management at Sumner Veterinary Hospital. I brought my…read moremale cat in on Saturday morning for a severe FLUTD/FIC crisis. A few hours later, my cat deteriorated and began straining continuously in his litter box for over 90 minutes. I called the hospital, and they rightfully told me to bring him back in immediately to check for a life-threatening urinary blockage. I arrived at 5:30 pm. A technician did a quick check in the back and confirmed his bladder was soft (not blocked), which I am thankful for. Then told me that the vet wanted to do a full exam before they discharged us and would be in shortly. However, we were then placed in a waiting room and completely forgotten about. I went to the front desk after 5 hours of waiting and was told we should have been seen hours ago but were "next in line." Two hours later--bringing the total wait time to nearly 7 hours--a doctor STILL had not stepped into the room to perform the exam. Keeping a highly stressed FIC cat trapped in a clinic room for 7 hours is actively detrimental to their recovery, as stress triggers bladder spasms. We ultimately had to walk out at around 12:30AM without ever seeing a veterinarian. To tell a distraught pet owner facing a possibly life-or-death scenario that they are next in line, and then abandon them for two hours, is completely unacceptable. I will be taking my cat's records to a different family vet who respects their patients' time and well-being.

This was my big dog's first time at a groomer, so I'm sure he wasn't easy to manage. I had no intention of returning, but they later messaged me to say my dogs are no longer welcome -- which I think speaks for itself. Honestly, their pettiness deserves 1-2 stars, but I promised 3 (even though they were pushing for 5), I'll leave it at 3. I've since found another groomer who is more experienced with large dogs. Original review: We've been bringing our small dog here for a long time and always had good experiences. Recently, however, we brought in both our small and large dog. After the appointment, both developed razor burns and red dots -- the larger one badly enough to need a vet visit. I paid $200 (175 + 25 tip) for the visit, and I was disappointed that even their sanitary trim wasn't done right. When I let the groomer know, the only response was "Ok," which initially felt dismissive.
