I really liked the look and feel of Audacious Aleworks. It's a bright and vibrant space with a lot of seating and light coming through the front wall of windows. I headed to the bar area to place an order for a flight. I chose 4 beers and sat at the bar to drink them. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of most of the 4, particularly the sour which had a smokey finish - let me just say, sour and smokey aren't a viable flavor combo. Yuck. That said, service was excellent and the vibe was right - wish the beers were more to my liking though...and cheaper. read more

Good spot for a cold beer in Falls Church, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really cool inside! It's in a strip mall with the Bakeshop, which is how I stumbled across it. Friendly local brewery that offers a wide variety of beers on tap. Everything is labeled by category (signs on top of the wall) so no guessing what's what and they offer flights if you can't decide what to try. They have a true wide variety, not just mostly IPAs and even have wine (not sure that they make that) if you're with a non-beer drinker. This friendly laid back place that also offers food (I haven't tried that yet) and free popcorn that I can confirm is tasty. They have trivia and other events here so check their schedule before you head over. This place isn't huge but they do a great job using the space they have. Sometimes you find random great spots in little strip malls off the main road. Audacious very much was one of these. Skip the parking lot which is ridiculously narrow and park on the street. The staff working was fantastic- you order at the bar and they bring the food to the table. They offer a tasting flight of four beers which is great since there are a lot of options to choose from. The Baron Dunkelweizen and the Black Forest Stout were both excellent, but there were also several others I would go back to try. Every drink comes with free popcorn which is always a plus, and the buffalo chicken dip and frickles were a great light lunch. We would absolutely come back here again. read more

Great local taproom that makes its own beers onsite. Their selection rotates based on availability with about a dozen and a half option on tap at any time. They also have a selection of brews they can onsite for take away. I'm not hip but that's how I'd describe the place's vibe. Any place that plays "Me First and the Gimme Gimmes" and similar music is worth a visit. I tried the Admiration oatmeal stout, Grabthar's Hammer imperial lager, and Dragon's Head Belgian ale. All are recommended, especially the dark options. They have a move-style popcorn maker and give it away free. Solid spot with good beer variety, especially if you are a stout lover. The space is a bit small but they have two long bar areas to sit at and a few outdoor tables when the weather is nice. We tried a flight and a small pour of the Irish stout they had at the time. We also ordered their grilled cheeses, which they had a nice variety of. First time trying this local brewery and it was truly audacious. The interior was nice and funky and had a good amount of space. The beer was pretty good, as there was a wide variety of selections. My beers were pretty tasty, but I honestly don't remember the names haha. In terms of food, I tried their popcorn and Rialto, which was a grilled cheese sandwich with turkey, pesto, mozzarella, provolone, and white cheddar. The sandwich was good and came with cool ranch Doritos, but the popcorn was salty with not much butter. Also, the service was a little slow and the food took a while to come out. Asian hate in their bathroom? A sealed sewage drain pipe with a large "China" label in the center of the bathroom. What the Hell? Don't take Chinese friends to this brewery. THE BIG: Lowkey great brewery in Falls Church. Area seems like it is building up and I hope for an expansion. The brewery is small with it's potential! THE BLACK AND WHITE: The first time I came here, I had no idea what to expect. None of Virginia's breweries have wow'ed me since moving back from Seattle. Here are some of my favorite beers: Back Porch IPA - A juicy, citrusy, IPA perfect for a warm sunny day on your porch or a picnic with friends. Leprechaun's Luck - Only around March/St. Patty's day, but WOW. This is a light stout with a hint of mint. It tastes like drinking a thin mint without being overly sweet or heavy. Tangerine Milkshake IPA - Juicy, creamy, full of citrusy flavor. A lactose beer that will keep asking you to drink more. Tropical Hard Seltzer - Light, fruity, and very refreshing For food, you can't go wrong with the grilled cheeses. I had the Rialto and it was incredible. If you're a local brew pub aficionado or just a beer fan, definitely worth a try. I was only here for their trivia night with family. Will I return? Probably. If you're a good person like me, I'd recommend getting some food from the afghani restaurant next door or ordering something to be delivered which is something I wish I knew that I could do when I was there. Don't get me wrong, they have brats, popcorn, soft pretzels, and a couple other things on their menu but if you want something substantial you'd have to get that from somewhere else. The bar staff and servers were all very friendly and provided superb service which was a feat because the bar was a revolving door of customers the whole night. This would be a great place to go on a casual date or even just to hang out with friends. The beer is just ok. They had plenty of variety, maybe around 18 on tap, I tried five IPA samples, the staff was nice enough to let me try them even when I couldn't get a table due to capacity. If you like guava, get the Tropical Milkshake IPA, it would be great on a 90 degree day. On a cloudy 55 degree afternoon, it was alright. I was also offered a bowl of room temperature popcorn, which was ok, but not that good. Finally, their restrooms are downright inappropriate. A couple of friends and I were in the neighborhood and decided to stop by Audacious. The outdoor seating area is the perfect place to enjoy a beer, and the service was fast and friendly! We tried a lager, Hefeweizen, and an IPA. I personally loved the Hefeweizen but was underwhelmed by the IPA. Overall it felt like they're the kind of place you want to keep coming back to as they try out new brews to find your fave. If I lived nearby this would definitely be my spot. read more

A friend and I recently visited and they have amazing accurate flavors. My two favorite were the Mango IPA and the Oktoberfest. They brew local so sometimes run out, but best way to taste is with a flight. The other two I had on my flight were the Nut Brown Ale and the Lightsaber stout sour, which was an interesting flavor of sweet and sours. If you like sours, I think you'll like that beer. For me, I like the IPAs and the Mango IPA had a distinguishable and sweet flavor of mango and compliment the bitterness of most IPAs. The flight came out to about 12/13 dollars without tip.
