As a native New Yorker in Columbus, people have been telling me to go to Auddino's for years. Alas, I have this odd quirk where the harder something is recommended, the more likely I am to take my time getting there. It makes no sense, trust me. Anyway, my angel of a boyfriend brought me here for treats. We skipped in just before closing - as a bakery, they start early and close by 3. Immediately, the sights and scents take me back to a corner bakery on Long Island or in the city. I practically ran to the black & white cookies - a forever fave! We got cannolis and the B&W but I will definitely be back to try more things. The cookie was out of this world and just like from my favorite Manhattan corner deli. The cannolis are authentically old school, with the filling not super sweet for American tastes but rather attuned to an Italian palate. So fresh and good! Fantastic family owned and run business with absolutely amazing Italian desserts! Don't judge the book by the cover, kind of off the beaten trail near the fairgrounds that is worth the stop! Very old school bakery with display cases loaded with traditional Italian pastries along with some grocery items like sauce, oils, and pizza making ingredients. We got offered some fresh Italian cookies to taste and of course we got some, so buttery and soft on the middle but crisp outside perfect for coffee. Snagged an extra large house dough and some Italian pepperoni to make pizza for dinner too. The real star of the show was the lobster tail, crisp croissant style pastry loaded with a dense Italian cream and powder sugar. Best donuts in town! Auddinos is a columbus classic. They supply buns and bread to many local restaurants so if you live in town you've probably had their products even if you didn't know it. The front of the shop is open until 3pm and has an amazing little donut counter. Biscotti, cookies, donuts, lobster tail pastry, etc All delicious. Wish I would've taken pictures. I'm not much for sweet tooth. Just happen to have a craving today on my return Business trip. Thanks to my YP family. This was right off the interstate.. I stopped in and we should've brought a suitcase. I could've stayed there for days with the displays of the different treats. I picked up a number of items didn't ask for names ended up eating up. Bavarian cream filled chocolate roll that had to be the best I've ever had. I can't wait to eat the other others, including the biscotti that I picked up that are made there. Stopped in on a Saturday morning on the way to Hocking Hills and so glad we did! Staff was super friendly. The owners son helped us, the whole place had a very family feel to it. Literally just down the street from the expo center/fair grounds. Not hard to find at all. Parking is limited but when I came on a Saturday morning, there were a couple spots left in front. Some folks parked on the street too. Most people are coming in and out and not lingering. I was hoping to make meatball subs but grocery store submarine bread just isn't that great. So I googled to see what people recommended and this place popped up! I got some submarine rolls and something that looked like a Bialy with hot peppers on it. The bread was delicious! Service: Incredible. The family is so friendly and inviting. The little Italian mother moved to the US at 15 years old and started a family that eventually created this amazing business. I'd I could listen to her stories and eat their delicious pasties for hours. Ambiance/Atmosphere: The inside is small, but not cramped. The display case of amazing fresh made goods is so mesmerizing and on the back table you can purchase large packages of their different select baked goods if a few aren't gonna do it for you. Food: Pumpkin muffin was moist, flavorful, and a large size too. This is a top tier pumpkin items, all I could ask for is a little more pumpkin flavor. I personally enjoy a strong pumpkin flavor, but for most this would be right there with the best. Glazed croissant was delicious. Think a glazed donut, but made better in every way. The butter croissant layers with that nice sweet glaze. This is a delicious option and I can only imagine how good it would be dipped in a coffee or a glass of milk. Cannolis were good. With a choice between plain, almond, or chocolate chip these were large and packed with toppings. I personally like a more sweeter ricotta filling, but these were enjoyable nonetheless. If you enjoy a more subtle filling these are the perfect cannolis for you. Almond cookies were fantastic. 3 types to choose from red candy, green candy, and the most incredible almond pistachio cookie. Crispy outer layer with a soft, moist, delicate inside. You can't go wrong with any of the three, but the almond pistachio is dangerously good. Lobster tails were possible the best pastry I've ever eaten. My first and most definitely not my last. I'll make the drive just for these. I've had many pastries around the world and I'll confidently say that these will always be in my top 3. Crispy, butter croissant like shell filled with their house made family recipe whipped cream like filling. Every bite was a journey and the crunchy shell was an amazing pairing with that vanilla ice cream like filling. This was truly a master class pastry and you'd be crazy to skip. The lobster tails and the almond pistachio cookies will be on my radar again very soon. read more

Why oh why did it take me so long to visit Auddino's?! Firstly, it's a very tidy little bakery with a humble storefront. They're very busy with large orders constantly going out the door and it makes sense: this is a legitimately amazing bakery! We went in very late morning on a Saturday without much of a plan. If you want the best selection, you have to go early. A lot was sold out when we came, but that was ok. Ended up choosing a lobster tail, a cream horn, and an almond cannoli (altogether about $15). I had to try everything when I got home, of course! First was the cream horn and the pastry was so delicate and the cream so light yet velvety. I said it was like eating a crunchy cloud. Next was the almond cannoli - I was especially excited because almond is one of my favorites and I'd never had an almond cannoli. It's easily my new favorite cannoli: crunchy shell, the almonds left such a nice flavor, but the cream was perfect because it wasn't cloyingly sweet. It's as perfect as a cannoli gets, in my opinion. Now for the shining star of the day: the lobster tail. Oh my word, where do I even start?! This is singly one of the best things I've ever eaten. The pastry is spectacular. The lamination on the layers? Insane. Crunchy perfection. But the cream. Oh my godddd the cream. How heavy the pastry itself was should have tipped me off, but it is filled up to the max with the most glorious sweet cream I've ever had (and I eat, y'all. Trust me!) How the cream doesn't make the delicate pastry soggy is like magic, honestly. I can't wait to go back. They have fresh pizza dough too and have pizza kits available ($12 for cheese and $15 for pepperoni). Such a good price! I want to try everything now. I can't wait to try everything now! Update: We did not enjoy the tiramisu. It wasn't creamy at all and was pretty dense, felt sorta dry if that makes sense, it was lacking something ... wasn't very sweet was actually slightly bitter. Pistachio cookies are incredible - best cookie I've ever had. Customer service was top notch. Loved the Italian rainbow cookies. $12 for a take a bake pizza is a great price too but didn't get one. My only complaint is that the Sfogliatella was quite stale. read more

The two older men must have been fighting on the day that we were there. Both were, uhm, "less than hospitable" to the customers. Felt like the Seinfeld soup episodes. We got to the checkout, guy says "I'll be right back", goes into the back of the store, and never returned. After about five minutes (yes, five) the second guy comes walking out of the back, scowling, and rings us up without saying a word. Wow, wow, wow! This is the best bakery I've been to in Columbus. I tried 3 different pastries, and I'll definitely be back to try more. I've been eating their bread my whole life I love this place. I am at a point where I can no longer climb the stairs to the store.

Where to begin.. we visited an architectural salvage store next door (which is AMAZING) and stopped in the bakery. Bread, pastries, coffee, were amazing. Purchased a large sample of treats to take to a gathering and folks raved over the Lobster Tails (cream filled pastry that you have to see to believe), fritters, and turnovers. I also bought several loves of bread including sour kraut, which I had never seen. It has the most amazing texture and taste. You wouldn't know it had kraut unless you were told. Amazing donuts and glazed croissants. Best Bavarian Cream filled stick EVER! Found out they make their own filling from scratch. If I could buy a gallon of it I would. Also they made an amazing German Stollen, is a fruit bread of nuts, spices, and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar or icing sugar and containing marzipan. It is a traditional German Christmas bread. I found this odd that an Italian bakery would have this until I was told the owner learned how to bake in Germany before he came to The USA. read more

I was in search of a bakery still making Apple Fritters since many of the bakeries I've recently visited have stopped making them. After a brief Yelp search of Best Bakeries near me, Auddino's Italian Bakery came up in the search. After checking out the reviews, I decided to check it out. This bakery is on a side road with a private parking lot. While the place isn't much to look at, it screens authentic Italian bakery. You can see the family history and Italian Pride in the photos hanging on the walls. I got some Apple fritters and a sour cream cake donut stick. They are so delicious so it was worth the visit!! The reason I didn't give this place higher than three stars was due to the limited variety and the unfriendliness of the lady who was helping me. I was the only person in the bakery and yet she seemed bothered to have to help me. I told her it was my first time visiting the bakery and rather than engage with me she puffed and walked away. I absolutely adore Auddino's! Every time I go in the staff is extremely friendly and service is very speedy. The vibe is very homey; feels like the mom and pop shop it claims to be. I love supporting family owned businesses but this has been my worst experience yet. I grew up in an Italian American family. I spent many trips visiting family in NYC and my favorite desserts are black and white cookies, rainbow cookies and cannoli. I did go right before they were closing, but the black and white cookie was the most disgusting thing a bakery ever served me. It was also 5 bucks?!? It was hard as a rock. The cookie base itself was really hard and crumbly and the icing was overset. It tasted stale as if it had been baked days ago, similar to what I'd imagine cardboard would taste like.That's disgusting that they would still sell a product this old. The cannoli were also a disappointment. I got a plain one and one with almonds. The shell was so soft, which is an indicator of a cannoli that is not fresh and the cream was more custard than the delicious rich and creamy ricotta/marscapone filling in used to. This is not a traditional cannoli. I cannot believe this is the best Columbus had to offer. I didn't even bother with the rainbow cookies because they looked pre-packaged and not something homemade. Lastly to make matters worse, the lady behind the counter looked openly annoyed with me and didn't help me until a couple minutes after I said hello to make her realize I was there. It says it closes at 3 and I was there at 2:15, so it's not like I walked in a couple minutes before closing. I'm sorry for ranting, but based on this experience alone I do not plan on going back unless someone can convince me. read more

This place is the absolute best! As someone who grew up in Northern New Jersey, I was always used to fantastic pastries and bread. Moved away from NJ 20 years ago and never realized how horrific the food was in other parts of the country, until I came across Auddinos. They get it. I've wanted to stop in here for quite some time. I finally made it and was not disappointed. The service was so great and friendly. I chose 6 donuts to bring home and of course a loaf of sliced Italian bread. I cannot wait to try the bread it has the perfect "squish" to it with a tougher crust it seems just like it should. The donuts were hard to pick with the options. We've tried 2 of the 6 and I am not disappointed. The texture is great and you can tell they are fresh. The 2 not pictured twisted glaze and long john eclair were so good and not overwhelmingly sweet. I cannot wait to go back and get some Italian cookies. I've passed this a few times, but assumed it was just the home of the bakery (not a retail shop.) I've had their products all over town, of course, at various restaurants. When I saw they had a bustling retail operation, and that Gwen loved their sour cream donuts, I had to go. It's not far out of my way, and it's just off the highway near the fairgrounds, easily accessible from anywhere in town. It's a little, pretty typical family bakery out front, exactly what you'd expect from those. Bread, rolls, donuts, cookies, etc. A few dry goods like jam and tomato sauce. I got their last two sour cream donuts, and some pizzelles. The pizzelles were pretty standard, which is to say, good. The donuts were great. And I had them at the end of the day, when they were almost out, so I'm sure they're better fresh. But, I am not a morning person. You do you, and if you can, go early and get these plus try some of their others- many looked enticing. read more

Holy cow, the BEST DAMN sour cream donut I'VE EVER HAD. The sturdy glaze on the outside kept the donut so moist and soft on the inside; I know this seems odd to say about a donut, but trust me, that was hands-down the best in central Ohio! I could wholeheartedly taste the sour cream - much, much more so than any other donut shop I've tried. I will definitely be back for another of these donuts, they're that freaking delicious! And their Apple Fritters? Um, yeah, so these suckers EXCEED any other apple fritters I've had, and by quite a margin. This fritter had the most physical pieces of apple I've ever come across. My personal criteria for "apple fritters" needs to have lots of pieces of the fruit stuffed in; if there's not much (or none) present, then you're officially nixed off my list. So, yeah, Auddino's has claimed a worthy spot to behold. Auddino's has a good selection of donuts to pick from. Do they have as many different varieties as, say, Amy's Donuts? No. But what they do offer seems they've perfected to a T and don't need to overextend themselves. Their bakery donuts are true top quality, and in the end, that's what matters, imo (I'm assuming I can also say this about their pastries/cookies, even though I did not try those). Yeah, if you could care less about the cake part of donuts, and only want a healthy amount of sugar toppings on top, then Auddino's is not your cup of tea. However, if your looking for a quality, phenomenal old-world classic donut, I most assuredly would recommend Auddino's. I did manage to snag the LAST individual-size Tiramisu on my last visit (Christmas Eve 2020), and I googled that down foe my afternoon treat. It was so dang close to being pperfect, but for some reason... it was fantastic, don't get me wrong: lots of tiramisu cream; soft, soaked ladyfinger-esque cookies; a great dusting of cocoa powder on top. I'm not sure if I would like it more if it had a bit more espresso tastes, or what. But, I will still keep Auddino's on my radar if I'm in the mood for my number 1 dessert choice! Just wanna say, on my first stop in, the two gentleman running the show were very nice. They were sons of the owners - this family run bakery has been in the family since opening in 1968! I found this bakery by accident. It was only a ten minute walk from my hotel. I confess, I did buy more than was necessary but wanted to sample the goodies. There were multiple types of doughnuts and buns along with several flavors of biscotti. I saw fresh baked bread available for purchase but did not buy any.
