Mostly everything is well executed here. Their cheesecakes are smooth, velvety, and silky along with tasty as well. They've got the perfect combination of mix and flavor profiles for their cheesecake base that doesn't make their cheesecakes to thick or dense like a brick like the Cheesecake Girls cheesecakes. Don't get me wrong CG cakes are good but so dense that you could jack up a car with it and change your tires. Bearded Baker is lighter and fluffier than them. In addition I believe they have a more extensive selection than CG. The only problem with this place is their Chocolate Chip cookie. I don't know what happened with the batch they sold but the one I had tasted too EGGY like it wasn't mixed well or properly. Give em a go if you're in the area. read more

HUGE shoutout to The Bearded Baker crew It's a shame anyone in the US would write a hateful review without reaching out to these genuinely awesome, sweet, laid-back, understanding, and caring people. They would have absolutely made it right! I've never felt so good spending my money - their cakes are amazing, and they truly care about their craft and their customers. And to put a bad review on the pineapple cheesecake?! Oh my God, when I tell you that is the BEST cheesecake you will ever taste, I mean it! It's disheartening. This was the very first time that I have been in the East Market. It was very clean and there were lots of food booths to look at and consider. The Bearded Baker had a line waiting to order so that is the first place that I wanted to try. I ordered the Pineapple Upside Down cake with cheesecake filling. It was absolutely delicious! My husband and I shared it and it was plenty large enough for two people. The price was $12 so it was a bit pricey but reasonable for two people. I got the cherry! I would definitely come here again! I've heard of The Bearded Baker, so I decided to try them out; after all, if you know me, you know I have a sweet tooth, indeed. Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies. They looked soft and gooey, thus I thought that'd be a great taste test (crisp and crunchy, then they're an automatic no-go in my book). Glad to report the cookies are soft and gooey. Not bad at all. I love the sea salt chucks sprinkled on top. If I'm in the area, and in the mood for a sweet treat, I'd happily stop in here. I can't help but wonder what their orangesicle cheesecake tastes like. He shared with me that The Bearded Baker started with gourmet cheesecakes and is evolving to include other delicious treats including mini cheesecakes, cookies, and soon to be released cream cheese cinnamon rolls! OMG! If you love cheesecake and cute desserts this is the place for you! I got the keylime and banana cream mini cheesecakes! It was $8 for 2! There were so many different flavors to choose from it was so hard to not buy it all! Personally I didn't like the texture of the banana one but it still tasted delicious! Next time I think I wanna try the pistachio cheesecake slice they had! The slices are so big, you could definitely get 2-3 servings out of one slice! The staff were so kind! There is so many vendor in the East Market that I still need to explore. And this time I got some gourmet cheesecake from The Bearded Baker. In store, they will have rotational flavors available for purchase by slices. If you are up for a whole cheesecake, you can order through their website. I got the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cheesecake and it taste incredible. The strawberry based cheesecake with the chocolate cake layer in the middle and the chocolate crust. Service was good and very fast, we got a chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal cream pie with cheesecake buttermilk icing in the middle, it was great. The chocolate chip was soft and crunchy, thick with lots of chocolate and sea salt on top and the oatmeal cream pie was really good, not too sweet. Nice end of dinner addition to our meal. read more

Had the banana cream cookie and it was otherworldly delicious! If I could find the time I would go back and keep my fingers crossed that the bearded baker was making them again. Service was great, the attendant acknowledged me right away. The location is in the market so it's vibrant in the building. If the BB's other offerings are anything comparable to the cookie I had, I'll be back and recommend others do the same! read more

I managed to grab the few items that we would normally purchase from other Japanese bakeries. We tried the melon pain, choco melon pain, matcha melon pain, custard bun, Nutella kitty bun, and walnut cookies. The melon pain were discounted at 20% because they were ugly according to Belle's. All of the bread held up for our road trip back to Chicago and remained flavorful and soft. The walnut cookies has a very good bite and it is not overly sweet. They can be paired with a nice Jasmine tea for a delicate afternoon snack. Belle's had a full case of dessert a vast variety of cake. I was really tempted to try a piece but I held back because it was an odd hour and we were supposed to have dinner soon. I would definitely like to revisit at a different date and time and try several pieces of dessert.

Most recently, I came to pick up a cake for Father's Day and also stopped in to try a couple drinks and a matcha roll. The interior is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are very friendly. Come early if you want a bigger selection of bread and pastries! I came around 6 pm on a Saturday and most breads were sold out but there were still plenty of cakes left. I ordered the iced matcha latte and iced black sesame lattes (both with oat milk). After mixing, the matcha latte was a light shade of green and pretty much just tasted like milk which was kind of disappointing. The black sesame latte on the other hand, had a nice strong black sesame flavor. The mango and strawberry smoothies were super refreshing especially since it was hot outside. I actually saved the matcha roll for 2 days later and it still tasted really fresh and yummy.

I get to surprise my husband later and they are the perfect small size for sharing so this will last us a while - at least until our anniversary next month. :). Customer service rocked. Parking is available though just a few spots. Establishment was clean. You get to pick up a few bottles of drinks like H20 or soda, I saw. The counter is two parts: one with cheesecake options and the other with cookies/brownies. Easy in and easy out. I'm impressed. The real deal will be when my husband gets to try this fun stuff with me and yes, I signed up for a rewards program. How can you not? Huge boost in points for signing up and it's free. I have a feeling we'll be extra impressed tonight.
