The one downside is they have a pretty intense backlog of work so be prepared to wait awhile for their top flight customer service and technical expertise. If you need used components - they have a good collection of receivers, speakers and Cd transports/changer. The prices for their cassette decks seem very high, but the rest of the items are comparable. Esp. good prices on amps/integrated amps of all power ratings. read more

Took in a 12 yo amp that didn't work and had been in my closet for four years. They took the lid off and took it outside to blow all the dirt out of it. Then the repairs, cap's needed replacing and many of the solder joints were cracked or broken. Needless to say they had to do a lot of work to repair it. They held to the price quoted! I brought in my turntable for a tone arm wire repair, and I must say, the willingness, kindness, and efficiency of the gentleman who helped me not only repair the wire, but get a new cartridge on my turntable as well was remarkable! For $30 he fixed up my turntable, and got a noticeably better cartridge on the tone arm for me, the one I tried and failed to get on there myself. Did it all in less than 15 minutes. I'm a customer that's been coming here for years. I love checking in once and a while just to see what's new. An old Technics Elcaset, a couple of Yamaha tuners and a pair of Sony Kabuki speakers that blew doors out back in the day. The wife is very happy too. They even test them out on the spot and offer a 30 day warranty, which is insane considering the items in this store is used. I've come by here a few times to check out audio equipment. The prices are...interesting, especially when you compare them to what you can online. Granted, you have to keep in mind that a lot of what you're paying for here are typically vintage refurbished items with a warranty (especially if it's turntables you're after, as I was), and so if it runs a bit more expensive, it's in part because you're paying for the item as well as the repairs that went into it. However, they have a ton of variety in terms of equipment. I'm, for example, a complete nerd about turntables. I found a lot of rare and beautiful 'tables here. As far as repairs services go, they're pretty good and when they say something will be ready by a certain date, they mean it. From what I've seen, the price of their repairs cap at a certain price depending on what it is you need fixed (which in other words means they have a flat repair rate for whatever it is needs fixing because it's not like they're actually going to charge you less than their fixed rate). Depending on what exactly is wrong with what you're bringing in (a complicated electrical error vs probably just needing routine maintenance), you might wind up losing out in the end. Do your research, ask questions! They're more than willing to answer them and they treat your items with the utmost care. read more

While the turn around was a little over a month, the quality of service both to the amp and customer service was on point and made up for the wait time. I blew my MC2205 not too long ago and was told by Mcintosh that there is an authorized service center located in town. This is no ordinary run of the mill shop. They deal mostly with vintage to high-end audio repair and are very knowledgeable in helping me understand the technical aspects of my amp. Looking for a place that will repair your vintage electronics that cost you an arm and a leg two decades go? This is the place. Like every other dummy like me I went to Frys electronics first and asked them. They recommended another audio repair business that turned out doesn't work on amplifiers. Hey Now! a business that repairs audio but doesn't work on amplifiers? Will wonders never cease. Anybody else getting upset at how clueless Frys continues to get? I know I am. Lucky for me I had several more errands to run that day. My next stop was Hub Cap Annie located in the same Strip Mall as Audio Xpert. I got to talking with an employee of MGM Grand Engineering department and he highly recommended these guys. MGM apparently brings all their high end audio repairs here. Being desperate I asked myself - Why Not? These guys are busy so don't get upset when they inform you the waiting line for getting repairs is a month (30 days) out. "Quality" takes time, "Mediocrity" can be found most anywhere these days. Initially quoted $150 for the repair and after only three weeks it turned out to be a minor repair which only cost me $50. Brought my amplifier home and my neighbors are upset once again. Mostly jealous I have better tunes at my house than they do. Need I tell you more? I highly recommend this business. read more

WHAT A GREAT FIND!!!!! I brought my turntable in that I've owned since the 80's thinking it needed a new needle. Tony did a "Bench test" where he hooked up my Turntable and played it for me. Even set the anti skate and balanced the arm weight. He did not rip me off!! he told me "There is nothing wrong with the Turntable" and he was right.
