I can see how service can be a hit or miss. I can see how the customers can be sketchy or perfunctory or unusual. But I didn't see that on a Thursday night during the NBA Playoffs / Dodger game. Initially there were very few servers, so we had to go to the bar to get a bucket, however towards the end of the night, it started to fill up and more servers came, and we had a great time chatting it up, and got out drink orders with more flow. Ambiance? Dive bar. Like The epitome of a dive bar sans pool table. They've got the juke box playing hip hop and Banda/Corridos, big speakers so you've got to almost yell to have a conversation, was a little disappointed they weren't playing the sound from the game. Surprisingly? Great food. Tacos were good, the Aguachiles was very good, especially for the price! It's got some heat. so be prepared (ask for it not hot if you've got a low tolerance.) Great citrus punch, quite a lot of seafood. All in all It's a great dive bar, with some beautiful servers, however the parking situation is very, very bad with patrons just double parking. I had to park in the neighborhood a block down, and when I left there was a gentlemen passed out next to it. But I guess that's Southgate for you! I would stop in maybe, but its not somewhere I'd recommend to go again. read more

Augies Bar & Grill has been one of my favorite spots to watch sports while drinking a beer and grabbing a bite from Mariscos Los Laras (IG MariscosLosLaras). This restaurant is located inside Augies Bar & Grill, and their menu consists of mariscos and Mexican food, although they offer wings and fries. Today, I came with a friend to witness the Dodgers win and see Shohei Ohtani hit his 51st home run and steal his 51st base. The ambiance was calm for this Thursday afternoon, but the music Playlist was on point. The bartenders were beautiful as always and attentive to our needs. After a couple of cold Pacifico beers, my friend and I got hungry and decided to order some aguachiles verdes and two tacos governador. Our order took a little longer than expected (Approximately 20 minutes), but we understood because the owner had barely opened his restaurant when we ordered. The aguachiles came first because they were not hard to prepare and looked delicious. Unfortunately, I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of my plate midway through. The plate had a good amount of shrimp marinated in spicy lime sauce, slices of avocado, red onions, cucumber, and about 3 to 4 tostadas served inside a plastic bag. Overall, this plate is perfect to satisfy your appetite temporarily. About 10 minutes later, the tacos governador plate came out with a slice of lime and a sauce that is hard to describe, but it was really good. The taco was cheesy and had plenty of shrimp for the traditional tortilla. The type of salsa they serve it with complements the governador and is delicious. In conclusion, I will continue to come here because of their sports ambiance, cold beers, beautiful bartenders providing excellent customer service, and Mariscos Los Laras serving delicious food. read more

I'm going to review the food part of Auggies since that's all we go for. The food always hits. Their specialty is the ceviches and aguachiles. Every time we've come here we can easily join tables and have a decent sized group of people get serviced. They are very friendly and helpful. That being said it seems they are always short people in the kitchen cause the food can take a while to come out. So be patient and understanding with them. The bartenders are always nice and attentive. They have TV's and usually always have games going on. As well as a jukebox you can play music from. The space is pretty big inside and doesn't feel crowded. The parking is the opposite. It's small and shared so it can get tricky. Other than that no complaints. read more

We had time to spare in between 12 yr old boy basketball games & landed at Auggies. I do not understand the poor reviews for service as we had a great experience. It's your typical dive bar set up. They have lots of tv's where they were showing a variety of games. They don't have hard liquor but soju which they were selling like hot candy. They have the worse customer service. Tried to call them and it took them 30 minutes to answer the phone. When I arrived there were less then 10 people in there. I Appreciate the bouncers to get the belligerent fool off of me. I celebrated my birthday at Auggie's with friends. Its a spacious space with great energy and atmosphere. The waitresses are awesome as they they get your orders in quick and always attentive. My friends had a blast. There was a live dj there bumping away. It's always a good time to drink and chill with friends, especially for a birthday. Randomly walked Into this place, as it was close and took cards. Which is becoming a huge plus for me, as I don't always have cash on me. Was pretty slow, but the bartender was super nice. Very friendly, and great service. This place has a pool table, and a nice open layout. The beer selection was alright, too many ipas in my opinion, but I found one I liked, as the bartender let me try a few. Overall, seems like a great little dive bar. Auggie's Bar is a pretty chill place to grab beers with friends. The crowds/vibe can be hit or miss depending on the day you visit. For example, this visit was pretty quiet with just a few people in the bar having beers and playing pool. However, I've been other times where it's been a full house with a lively crowd and music blasting. No matter the day of my visits the beers have been nice and cold and though I love lively crowds, being served an ice cold draft beer that taste good assures I'm getting my moneys worth when it comes to quality. It's a great Sports Bar, catch all the games you want football, basketball, baseball (Dodgers Definitely Included), hockey, etc... Not only that you can catch the big fights here as well. The Bartenders are all beautiful and very attentive, usually dress provocatively. Babes and Beer is the gist and the beers sure are nice and cold good selection of beer. The pitchers are fairly small but it all works out. Not to mention this little bar has some good tasting bar food! The Wings, Nachos, Quesadillas, Sliders, and the build your own burgers (BYOB).
