this is a hidden gem for sushi. I eat sushi at least 3x a week and August moon is my favorite local spot. Living in the burbs, unfortunately it just isn't practical to go downtown to Morimoto of may of the other solid sushi places, so I order from August moon on a weekly basis. The rolls are amazing, and I always order a couple spicy tuna crunch. The service is as good as any restaurant i have been to and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sushi!!! read more

This little sushi bar/restaurant has a Korean flair to it. It's seriously the best sushi within a 10 mi radius. Fresh, nice thick sushi on fresh rice, excellent home made kimchi and great miso. It's a little difficult to get to being in Norristown, but it has its own parking so don't be afraid to go try it! read more

Great sushi , and in Norristown of all places . The hair in the food ? Normally not a problem , just apologize and adjust the bill or bring out a replacement . "Oh no that fiber from napkin". Uh, no. August Moon has some of the best Japanese and Korean food I have ever had. They have great appetizers and freid ice cream for dessert. The best thing on their menu are the stone bowls, but there are other very good objects to choose from. The inside has Japanese and Korean sculptures all across the restaurant. read more

Since my family was away I decided I would take myself out to dinner. It was a Thursday night and I was craving sushi. I've passed August Moon a few times and while the neighborhood might not be so great I actually prefer it that way. Some of the best food I've enjoyed has been in some run down neighborhood. The first thing I noticed was how bright and cheery the place is and there was nice melodic music playing softly. The bar tender and waitress were very welcoming as soon as I stepped through the door. I decided to sit at the bar because it looked comfortable and since I was alone I didn't feel the need to take up a table. I ordered a beer and the California Rolls to start. I enjoyed the California Rolls so much I decided to try something else on the menu. I ordered the Alaskan Tuna Roll and it was also very good. After the great experience with the sushi rolls I felt like I needed to try even more. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she directed me to the Bibim Bap (Mixed Rice) section. After reviewing carefully I choose the Seafood Stone Bowl it had rice, tons of vegetables, shrimp, squid, a huge mussel, and an enormous scallop. The bowl came out sizzling hot and it smelled amazing. I poured on the chili sauce that was served on the side and I mixed it all up. The smell emanating was delightful and as I mixed the dish together all the colorful vegetables came to the top. I thought this dish was excellent; it had a nice taste but was on the greasy side. While I don't typically like greasy foods this was an exception I had to make. Food aside I found both the waitress and the bar tender to be gracious, courteous, friendly, and helpful. The bar tender even made me a nice ice tea called "Ice Tea Sejutini" it was and explosion of flavor in my mouth and very quenching. If you are an ice tea connoisseur, like me, you will enjoy this drink thoroughly. The food and the staff were great and I will let you judge for yourself if it is reasonable or unreasonably priced based on my meal. The break down of my bill was as follows: California Roll $5.00, Alaskan Tuna Roll $6.00, Seafood Stone Bowl $18.00 and a Sapporo beer $8.00 (yes my beer was way overpriced) bringing my total to $38.74. read more

I'm always disappointed to see so few people in this restaurant. I've been twice now, both times receiving excellent service. The sushi is great, and has even made my father stray away from regular tuna rolls. Next time I'll have to try more of the Korean food. I highly recommend. read more

Charming Korean / sushi restaurant. We've had the same server for every one of our visits and she's very sweet and a super hard worker. As far as I can tell, she's the only waitress 7 days a week and it's not uncommon to see her waiting tables in the front and making the drinks at the bar. Even though we haven't been in as much recently, she remembers our names and that our daughter likes a side of broccoli. :-) Sushi is very good and my husband likes the Korean food. I have stopped in August Moon a few times to get sushi. I am a huge sushi fan, but am relatively picky about what I will eat. I LOVE this restaurant because they have a wonderful selection of the foods I actually eat. My favorite is the Polar Bear roll, because I love White Tuna. Admittedly, I have never tried the more Korean fare. The wait staff is fine. I would not say they are super attentive, but they always seem pleasant enough. read more

We absolutely love this place. Yeah it's not cheap, but for the quality of food, you can't beat it. The Pa Chun and tempura appetizers are delicious. We tried the yakisoba tonight, really good, Korean flavor not Japanese. I don't get the sushi, but whenever I come and someone does, it looks good and they like it. So disappointed with the new August Moon. What happened to this place? The decor, the ambiance, everything... very uncharacteristic of an authentic Korean restaurant. Didn't try the Japanese side of the menu, but the Korean side---just awful. The meat tastes like it's been sitting in marinade for too long causing it to break down the texture--making it taste almost like fake meat (if that even makes any sense), the hot/spicy soups are watery and very bland, and the sides dishes are less than par. If you want real Korean food, stick with the restaurants in North Wales, Blue Bell, and the Northeast. read more

I really love this place! The service is fast and fabulous. We go here several times a year. The food is always delicious and fresh. The Bibim Bab is so good. We brought my parents and aunt and uncle to August Moon. They are picky eaters and don't usually explore cuisines other than Chinese and Italian but they really loved their meal! read more

Worst restaurant experience. Mediocre food, rude staff. My Korean friend ordered something Korean and said it was awful. I figured they can't screw up tempura, but I was wrong. The tempura was more like American breaded seafood, not the light and crispy tempura batter it should be. Plus they skimp on the expensive part of the meal, and add cheap stuff you didn't order to the plate. I ordered shrimp and vegetables tempura. There was 1 shrimp, 2 pieces of red pepper 1/4 inch thick, and 1 piece of zucchini. The rest of the plate was filled with breaded deep fried chicken nuggets ?? and a potato and pea croquette thing - neither of which I ordered - in other words, filler food. And the staff is a great example why you shouldn't let plebs run your business. We walked in at 1:50pm and asked if they would still serve us lunch - they said yes, and sat us. The door says they serve lunch 11:30-2:30. Well, the staff actually expects to leave at 2:30pm on the dot whether or not you have finished eating or drinking the food you paid for. We got our food at 2:15pm and at 2:20pm our waitress dropped off the bill and told us that they close at 2:30pm. She came back twice to tell us they were closed. When we were leaving I complained to the barman that the staff shouldn't expect to leave at 2:30pm on the dot. He said to me, "You can talk all you want, no one is listening to you." Wow. I would rather starve to death than ever go to August Moon again. read more
