This morning on way home from Florida Vacay, we stopped in Mt Airy to have breakfast at Aunt Bea's Diner. Saige ordered pancakes with bacon and Orange juice. I had biscuits and gravy with sweet tea.. Deacon also had pancakes with sausage and Mt Dew Zero. Not sure what Kayla and her daddy ordered, unfortunately they has to sit at different table. The food was not that good. The food was awful, my burger was way, way overcooked, my brother ordered the bar-b-que - couldn't eat it. My sister-in-law ordered minicorn dogs and had about 6 of them. The cost was $30. In addition, it was so loud in there you could't talk. Plus there was an employee behid the counter sneezing their head off. I suggest you find somewere else. read more

My wife and I ordered the ground steak sandwich. When we unwrapped them, the ground beef was pink. It was waaay undercooked. Took it to the counter and mentioned the sign posted regarding undercooked meat. The response... "don't suppose you want another one?" Got our money refunded and at no time did anyone behind the counter attempt to say "sorry for the bad experience" or "sorry, what else can we get you?" We used to go here often but, not now. Drive thru order taker was having difficulty understanding the person at the menu board. I watched a member of the kitchen staff portioning fries with his bare hand despite tongs being RIGHT THERE. hi, we went to aunt Beas on 12.02.24 and we got a BLT and 2 chicken tender trays. To start off we waited 20-25 minutes for our food when the BLT was already done. We asked for EXTRA mayo on the BLT and we got none at all. the chicken tenders looked weird and tasted weird, there was slimy stuff in our tenders. I would personally not come there again...I could say many more bad things about this place! read more

Stopped here with my granddaughter around lunch. Place was busy but service was fast. I ordered the small BBQ platter with cole slaw and baked beans and my granddaughter ordered chicken fingers, fries and some cheesy tater tots. Food arrived and portions were more than ample. Glad I ordered the small and not the large and granddaughters chicken fingers were huge. Almost everything had great flavor but I couldn't eat it all. The only big disappointment were the cheesy tater tots. They had no flavor what so ever let alone cheese. All in all a good meal and I would recommend it except for the tater tots. read more

I'm at the drive thru at aunt beas in mt airy and they employee addressed me by saying "what did you say!!" Which is very rude after I say in line for over 30 minutes!!! When I got to the window she basically thru my change back to me. I wanted to address the issue but obviously they're fixing my food. I been going here for years even before it burned down and never have I got this kind of customer service. On my receipt her name was Leslie, she's very rude and do not need to be working with customers with that attitude or she needs training on how to address customer. read more

I was drawn to this place because of the name and my, my, my...was I disappointed. First off, I was completely shocked to see This is just a fast food joint. Then, for a place with "bbq" right in the name, their bbq was not even good. It seemed like it had been sitting around a few days and dried up and lost most of its flavor. And The hush puppies seemed like they came out of a grocery store freezer section but at least they were cooked properly. and finally the peach cobbler was the worst! It was some canned peaches mixed in with some flavorless, undercooked doughy mess. This was my first and only time coming here. Shame on you guys for exploiting Aunt Bea's name like that. read more

I wouldn't say this is the best barbecue I've ever had, but it's tolerable. The vinegary bottle of sauce that's at every table is definitely not my cup of tea, but there are 2 kinds of BBQ sauce available at the counter. I love southern style coke slaw, and theirs was done exactly right. There were hush puppies, slaw and French fries on every plate. We got a small BBQ plate and the catfish tenders. Both were fine, although the largest piece of my catfish was slightly undercooked and there was no tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for the fish. It was a fun experience-especially the people-watching. I had been getting breakfast at Aunt Bea's in Mt. Airy monthly for years as I traveled from the Midwest to North Carolina. I felt there was a downward tread the past few visits but my latest really cemented it. I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage patties and toast. What did I get? Most notably I got simply bread. Aug 15, 2021 had evening meal here. Country style steak was plentiful, but had way too much salt making it inedible. Mashed potatoes cold and hard. A waste of money. Husband had stew beef. I should've used my better judgment and went somewhere else, but I chose to come here because a friend of mine said this place was awesome!!! Boy was she wrong. I didn't think it was possible to find a place that is worse than Little Richards. When you walk in, it kinda reminds you of Speedy Chef. You have to order at the counter and the menu is on a board above. I ordered a LARGE bbq plate with mac n cheese, green beans, and hush puppies. My husband ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with fries, and my son a bologna sandwich with fries. All of this for $25. The price wouldn't have been so bad had the portions been bigger. The large plate was pitiful. I had like 2 bites of mac n cheese, the green beans were meh, and 5 whole hush puppies. At least at Little Richards, you get unlimited hush puppies and a decent side portion. The bbq was okay. My husband's burger was smaller than a cookout burger, which is really sad considering it was almost $7 for the burger alone (adding almost $2 more for a pathetic side of fries and another almost $2 for a drink making it a whopping $11 total). I definitely will never be back here ever. There is no way in hell I'll ever waste my money eating their food again. I would've been better off going to Cookout. We went into the place and the menu was a confused mix of "barbecue", salads and sandwiches and burgers. Two of our party did not hear their number called. Five minutes after the rest of got our food they finally went up to the counter. The food was sitting off to one side and they had forgotten about it. The salads were pre made with almost no chicken nuggets. The bbq sandwich was not smoked and the sauce was vile. The chicken fingers were small, looked pitiful, and were fried in the same grease as fried fish and were nasty. They even messed up a grilled cheese sandwich which was limp, not crisp, barely hot, and slathered in mayonnaise. The place was clean at least. Good country breakfast spot. Know what this is before you go and you won't be disappointed. This is a simple country kitchen where you order at the counter, have a seat and come back up when your food is ready. We had breakfast here before going to Hanging Rock State Park, and we were quite pleased with it - because we knew what kind of place we were going! If you like the basics in breakfast and aren't looking for crab cakes and a white tablecloth, then you're going to enjoy Aunt Bea's. Simple, tasty, prepared well to our orders. Don't be afraid to ask for things the way you like it - i.e. hard scrambled instead of soft eggs, well done bacon, etc. Not everything was a good down-home job - the hush puppies were disappointing. A BBQ joint needs to do better on those. Otherwise we were all pleased with what we had - it was satisfying and generous without going overboard, and the counter/register staff were helpful and courteous. Yuck would be the best description. Ordered a bacon cheese burger with a side of the peach cobbler. My friend ordered one of their dinner plates. When we received the order, I got a SMOOSHED unappealing patty with soggy bacon. Gross. Lettuce and tomato were not fresh. I hate brown lettuce. First time I came to Aunt Beas in years and staff members greeted me with extreme rudeness and aggressiveness in particular James Branson had a horrible attitude towards me and my family while taking our order. I stepped into the bathroom and was immediately welcomed with urine in the floor and a horrible stench coming from the stalls and when I went into the stall the toilets were absolutely disgusting and not clean. To top it all off someone in the drive through played the song "GD Anthem" by Rooga over the intercom making this experience even worse because of the extreme profanity.
