I've been to Aunt Berta's Berlin location a number of times, and have used them for catering twice. Never disappointed! Everything is always delicious! The food is delicious. Is it the best I've ever had? No (well, the turkey wings are). Have I enjoyed everything I've ever ordered? Yes. It says a lot that nothing is bad and every dish is delicious. This restaurant is right up the street from me. First let me start by saying Ms Berta is a sweetheart! Whenever she's sitting out front while you're ordering, she so sweet and makes sure your order is just right and always thanks you for stopping by! I usually get the mix and match or the fried fish platter, always with Mac and cheese, yams and it comes with cornbread. I always get macaroni salad and banana pudding along with it. Yes I know it's a lot of food but it's so good! I must admit sometimes they don't use baked mac and cheese, it tastes kind of powdery but on those days I see that kind, I I usually don't order lol. Awesome ribs, they were tender fall off the bone with great flavor. The pork chop was moist and memorable. I had the mac and cheese and my husband had the collards both were above average but it could be we were stuffed from the ribs and chop. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. read more

The food was excellent! The service was great, the staff was friendly and wanted to make our experience pleasant. Aunt Berta's is a hidden gem! It was a little heard to find (on the westbound side of the WHP across from the Dunkin Donuts and Family Dollar), and not a fancy place, but they have really tasty food with large portions priced reasonably. For $8.99 + tax they have a mix and match with two meats, two sides and cornbread. I had a fall off the bone tender turkey wing and two big meaty juicy ribs with collard greens (you must try!!) and mac and cheese. I also had an order of chicken wing which were delicious. Aunt Berta's wing sauce is sweet and spicy. They have a good selection of food too. The salisbury steak (I'm usually not a fan) looked really good and I plan to try it on my next visit. I just LOVE this place Berta's kitchen is the best around I use restaurant to cater all of my parties and there wasn't a time that my guests have been disappointed. I was disappointed today when we stopped after work to pick up dinner. we ordered two rib bone platters. there was no sauce on the ribs, I did not get my side and the other order had foil over the potatoes and veg with the ribs on top. the weigh of the ribs had the potato and gravy sticking to the foil. I will say before today never had any issues. Wish I had my sides. read more

Food was decent. Ive had better soul food homemade though. Peach cobbler pretty good too. However, i will just note, i found out from someone who was a former worker here, to NOT eat here afterwards. Absolutely incredible food!! Excellent customer service, very helpful & welcoming staff. The area is kept clean, along with a very quiet dining area to enjoy your meals. I'm almost in tears as I write this review as many years ago we had Aunt Berta's every Sunday and it was always the best. A few weeks ago I got into a debate with someone that said Aunt Berta's is nasty. Of course we hadn't eaten there in years as we had tried to start eating healthy. Getting to the point, earlier today I happened to be passing by. I promptly stopped in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot across the street. A long story short the mac and cheese sucked, the chicken was dry and the smallest breast of chicken you have ever seen and to top it off my wife said the peach cobbler which used to be her favorite was yucky!!! I only did pickup and called my order in ahead of time. Got the chicken/rib combo. The chicken had good flavor and cooked perfectly. The ribs were meaty and great taste. Had the collared greens (yum) and the candied yams. All in all great food and no problem with service. In the cooler months might want to sit in the restaurant but too hot lately. read more

OMG.....a must try...well worth the travel...the food was DE-LIOUS....traveled fron PA just to give it a try... home cooked meal...way home!!! My husband and I stopped in recently for the first time. First impression: the people who work here are so friendly! Love that! My husband got the ribs and fried chicken and said they were both really good. I tried some of the macaroni and cheese (which was so good) and the sweet potatoes (good, but not fantastic) that came with his meal. The portions were a nice size and pricing reasonable. Straight to the point. The dining area and tables were dirty, the food servers did not have gloves on, it took 20 minutes to get food that was already cooked. My turkey wings were good but a little burnt, the sweet potatoes were not sweet they tasted bitter, my mac and cheese was horrible. My friend fried fish was delicious the okra and corn was good but the potatoe salad taste old. This was my first time and you can be sure that this is my last time. Shame I live in NJ but got to go all the way to Philly for some good ole soul food!!! read more

Took my grandmother here for a late lunch a few days ago. I was raised in the south so I like to think I know what to look for in a good soul food place . We walked in and went to the counter to order. Everything was prepared and waiting to be severed upon ordering. My grandmother had the Salisbury steak/mashed potatoes/greens. I had the fried chicken/Mac and cheese/greens/black eyed peas. My grandmother loved the steak she said it was tender and well seasoned. She said the greens were the best she had since leaving Georgia 20 plus years ago. I agree, greens were the best thing there by far . My fried chicken was good, little rubbery but that goes without saying since it wasn't cooked to order which I prefer for fried chicken. Black eyed peas were also really good. Only real "downside" to the meal was the dried up crumbly cornbread. When u eat soul food u need a good cornbread/biscuit to go along with it. This wasn't it. That being said , we WILL be going back ... Very soon .. It's a must try if ur in the area . Ppl are very friendly and it's a family run joint .. All the more reason to support it.. read more

Went to Aunt Berta's Kitchen today for the first time. Was very disappointed in the food. Some of our chicken wings had a bad taste and smell. The mac and cheese was over cooked and to soft ,hardly any cheese. Sweet potatoes had to much lemon flavor and were not sweet. We will never go back there again. Well first off let me say that the cajun turkey wings are to die for and the collard greens are the best. With that out of the way, on to the bad. I ordered my family's Thanksgiving Day dinner. When I arrived Thanksgiving morning to pick up my order, everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off looking for people's orders. They could not find their copy of my order, luckily I had mine. There was no knd of system or organization, nothing. After about 40 minutes and two different people checking my order, I took the box with my food and left. When I got home and we were ready to eat I discovered they gave me regular stuffing instead of the cornbread stuffing I ordered (my family and I hate stuffing made with regular bread), I was supposed to have 24 turkey wings and was given 20, the sweet potato pie looked like a kid made it (the filling had spilled over the sides and it just looked so messy, no one wanted to eat it). So now I have this big pan of stuffing that will likely be thrown out and bad memories of this Thanksgiving dinner. I will probably order the turkey wings and collard greens again next year, but I will be sure to check everything myself before I leave and I will pick my order up the day before Thanksgiving.
