Service was reasonably timed and all of our food was really good. Neither of us finished our entire meal and we were happy to leave with some bites for later! Yummy options for breakfast lovers and haters alike.

We pass by every weekend and the line is always out the door! The food portions were a lot smaller than I'm used to. I left filling satisfied. The food had great flavor. The sausage omelette had lotsssss of cheese. The sausage was crispy and the egg was perfectly cooked. Although I had to ask 3 times to get jelly the staff is all over the place and we had to constantly ask for refills. They have lots of seating inside and outside. Inside they have a bar area that gives off old diner vibe!

    * Great service * Casual ambiance * Tasty food Local Chula Vista favorite that's been around for years, offering great prices, solid breakfast options, and fresh coffee that's constantly refilled. The service is very attentive my cup never even made it halfway before someone checked in to see if I wanted more. The food hits the spot. I had the huevos rancheros (my favorite!) and added sour cream, which made it even better for my taste . My husband ordered the trio omelette and a side of banana pancakes. I would've preferred the cheese on the omelette to be more fully melted, but it was still good overall. The pancakes aren't banana-flavored; they're regular pancakes topped with bananas which my husband expected to be banana-flavored--but they were still great. Worth the wait. Parking can be a bit tricky, but street parking works if you're patient. Depending on the day and time, you can expect a wait, but it's definitely worth it. Overall, a must-try if you're in Chula Vista. Classic local spot with good food, great service, and fair prices. Definitely coming back.

Ok, for a breakfast diner this is a must. It stands to reason that they have been in since 1959. The parking lot is small with additional parking across the street. The restaurant is busy another great sign. Came in and sat at the counter. It took a few minutes for the waitresses because the place is busy. Gave me time to look over the menu. So many options. Ended up with huevos con chorizo. It was superb. Homemade, with beans and corn tortillas. Also ordered the chipotle omelet with hash browns and pancakes. Everything about it was delicious. The pancakes, well they are not ordinary, but extraordinary. The fresh butter, and real syrup. That was enough for a four star review, which is very good of you follow me. The omelet and salsa, delicious. I found a new favorite place.

Really good breakfast spot here always busy and good fresh food and freshly brewed coffee every time. The wait time was quick and they are quick to place your order considering they are busy food came out reasonably quick. There are lots of locals/regulars that frequent here and great yummy food in a casual ambiance.

Second time around with more friends and the food delivered again. I had the trio omelette. The service was great, and like always the venue was full of people. As far as ambiance the classic artwork stands out and the classic brown seating gives breakfast vibes!

We are a party of 4 and have been waiting for almost over an hour for our food. All the parties of even 6 who have been seated AFTER us have received their food and even finished :/. Worse service ever. Saw the waiter even refill coffee's but ours. We had taken our order to go after waiting so long....all I cared for was the pancakes. We got charged for pancakes...DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE THEM.

Aunt Emma's Pancakes is a comfortable, dependable breakfast destination in Chula Vista. It shines when you're in the mood for pancakes, a hearty breakfast, and a straightforward diner experience. If you can avoid the rush (or don't mind waiting a bit), it's a solid choice. Would recommend it for a relaxed morning out, especially with friends or family. Short stack of buttermilk pancakes: A staple here, ideal if you want the classic experience. Crepes (strawberry, apple, cajeta): For something a bit different, they mention crepes topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Omelette + pancakes combo: Great if you want savory + sweet; omelettes get good mentions. Coffee: Many reviewers highlight that their coffee is reliably hot and well-refilled.

In town for work and my uber driver suggested I come here for breakfast - it did not disappoint! I was nervous because the line looked really long, but I was able to sit at the bar as soon as I walked in. Ordered the Breakfast Burrito and a side order of Buttermilk Pancakes. Very generous portions and I left very satisfied

I visited Aunt Emma's Pancakes in Chula Vista, CA on Saturday, 1/25/25, around 11:30 AM. Upon entering the restaurant, it appeared to be very busy. However, there wasn't a wait and I was able to get seated immediately. In terms of food, I ordered the Chilaquiles with Steak. The dish had an underwhelming flavor. I used Cholula Hot Sauce to enhance the taste. It was not entirely terrible but not as good as anticipated. The customer service was friendly and pleasant. The server constantly came to the table and showed great attentiveness. Parking was challenging. The parking lot was filled up and I had to park up the street. Overall, the restaurant was decent. If I stop here again, I would order another dish from the menu and come when it's less busy.

I chose Aunt Emma's as a part of a week long celebration of the 25 th anniversary of our first date and the 23rd wedding anniversary honoring the memory of my late wife Gay, who died 15 years ago. I'm sure you're more interest in hearing about the food and service than my love life or lack thereof. I'll start with the service, I was greeted and seated promptly. Araceli was my server. I felt that given the fact they were fairly busy the service was good and attentive My coffee cup was empty a couple of times, understandably so given the circumstances. When someone asked how my food was I felt it was scripted and she didn't really want an answer. I felt dismissed as she walked away without hearingy comments. This was due in part to how busy they were. I tried not to take it personally. Still I felt if they didn't want the answer don't ask questions. I started my meal with a $3.99 cup of coffee while I looked over the menu. I liked the coffee they served, which made it easier to pay $3.99 for. I was hungry for biscuits and gravy but forgot that I didn't like their recipe for gravy. It wasn't bad, but too thin for my personal taste. No reflection on the cook, he or she was just following Aunt Emma's recipe. It is good, if you like thin gravy. The biscuits were good. Had the gravy been thicker, I would have wanted more gravy on my biscuits. I ordered eggs over easy and got closer to medium. I will fault the cook on that. My hash browns were delishious but not cooked to order. I wanted them crispy on both sides, that didn't happen. My bacon was the star of the meal Two tasty crispy, and not over cooked slices of good quality bacon, which I enjoyed a lot It is my hope that they pay attention to details on my special requests on my next visit. There are lots of choices on the menu, and I'll make a mental note to avoid the gravy. I did appreciate the Senior Discount which covered the taxes. And I appreciated the clean restroom. I also appreciated the fact that the meal came out quickly and that they have a I think they called it Birthday Club in which they'll send me emails about deals. The French Vanilla creamer was a pleasant surprise to my unsuspecting taste buds and brain. As I've aged I feel a senior menu with smaller portions and priced according would be nice. As an example for the biscuits and gravy, one biscuit instead of two an half the serving of Hashbrowns would be enough. They may have a senior menu but I could haveb missed it. They also have out door dining.

Sunnyside eggs were completely raw. Pancakes showed up with no syrup. Overall, all quality was terrible. This is my first and absolute last time ordering from this place. If you want to know exactly what I'm talking about check the pictures.

First time visiting this location in a while. We happened to walk in during a busy day but it got busier after we ordered our food. We were seated right away and didn't have to wait much to both order our food and receive it. Every single staff person we encountered was really nice and in good spirits. We ordered: green chilaquiles, triple omelette and blueberry pancakes. We were pleasantly surprised with how everything tasted. They do have music playing but you might not hear it on a busy lunch hour.

I'm a huge fan of trying new pancakes and Family House delivered. The pancakes are fluffy, and the sizes are perfect. My pancakes came with my country scramble which was equally delicious. I just had to upgrade a bit from buttermilk to buckwheat. The meal was very filling, it kept me satisfied all the way to dinner almost. The Family House of Pancakes is very busy and has a lot of patrons. It's a community hub and rightfully so. Staff are attentive and polite, we were checked on regularly despite the sheer amount of visitors. My family took my Grandpa out to eat here and we were still able to hold a conversation, it wasn't overly loud. I felt super comfortable. FHOP has booths and tables across the restaurant. Walking is tight as everything seems close to eachother. A bar/counter is also available for smaller parties. We waited 15 mins to be seated, there's a speaker in front of the restaurant to alert you when you're called. The wait felt like a breeze.

One visit, they forgot my sausages entirely. Another time, they gave my full order away to someone else with the same name. And this last time, they couldn't even follow simple directions on the order. This isn't just frustrating, it's the kind of repeated carelessness that drives customers away for good. People aren't paying their money to play guessing games with their food or deal with constant mistakes. If this is the level of service they're going to keep providing, they're going to lose more than just one customer. I'm done with this place, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone expecting basic competence.

I was torn between the tortuga ninja and the breakfast mexipino. Decided to go with the mexipino sandwich and the ube pancake. Ube pancake - served on a pizza plate. Wow factor lol. The pancake was good, however i felt it could have used a macapuno syrup or something coconutty to complement the ube. The drizzle they put on it was good and i asked for extra and it boosted the flavor. This can probably feed 4-5 people depending on how hungry you are. Mexipino sandwich - this was good enough to split. I loved the savory and sweetness and saltiness. All the flavors complimented one another and i did a happy food dance. Calamansi mint drink - it was just ok for me. Reminds me of the calamansi drink from the pouches and they just added mint. It was too sweet for me so i probably wouldn't order again.
