This is a terrible place. I witnessed two female workers smoking something in the back room. No food was available either. AWFUL service

Amazing food and very nice staff. Honestly, I do not…read moreunerstand the negative reviews. I am from Germany (immigrated in 2011) and this is definitely a "taste of home". The place looks and feels very homey, like a small restaurant would look like in Germany. Sure, if you are expecting a Pretzel with Beer Cheese dip (No true German would EVER!!!) it might not be the place for you.... BUT: The Schnitzels are nice and thin and breaded just right, exactly how they are SUPPOSED to be. The authentic German Curry Ketchup was SO GOOD, I will go back and buy a whole bottle! The home made Spaetzle with the Jaeger Sauce were AMAZING, and my friend had a Curry-Wurst, that looked exactly what it would look like in Berlin, Germany, eaten as street food (cut up into pieces, yes, that's how it is eaten in Germany!) We will for sure be back! Keep up the good work!

We finally get to place our order and while we waited noticed the table behind us getting plate after plate of the wrong food. We order and waited another 15 minutes for drinks. Our food finally starts coming out one dish at a time and it's not even correct. We were waiting for the last dish to arrive and our server took it to the wrong table, collected it from the wrong table and tried serving it to us after it was touched by someone else! So, terrible service. To top it off the food just sucks. Tiny portions that are overpriced. Not authentic German, not even close. The schnitzel were absolutely tiny and paper thin, you could barely even notice it was meat. For $15 you get two puny schnitzels and a tiny bowl of potato salad. During our time there at least 5 tables came in, sat and left not even getting drinks.

The food and drink were just as evocative. I had the pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy and pomme frites. My grandson ordered the currywurst (fried sausage in a delicious curry-tomato sauce). My wife went vegetarian with rotkraus (roasted red cabbage) and kartoffelsalat (warm German potato salad). All of the food was outstanding. I paired my meal with a liter stein of true German Dunkel. We will definitely be returning!!

Thanks as always to Yelp for finding OGBH - because this place is AWESOME! We wanted to sit at the bar, but the bar was busy, so we grabbed a table in the other room and the bartender came to us about 4 minutes later and said there were 2 spots at the bar! So, we moved to the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the next 3 hours - we might still be there, if it wasn't for the Brewers game we had tickets to! We enjoyed several different beers on tap, talked with the bartenders - specifically Mitch and Sarah and of course the other people at the bar. We enjoyed the OGBH Brat - for sure the best brat I have ever had. The bun is perfectly warm and toasty, the brat is delicious and full of flavor and of course, it's snappy! We even tried the bavarian pretzel with the yummy cheese! I love this place - I don't have to search for anywhere else to go now that I have found this gem!

Not a lot for price. German sampler: All very good but the Germans potato salad was mushy. Basically mashed potatoes. Not good. Bland too. Salad: we were all very excited for the hot bacon salad as that's most of our favorites. The ingredients were amazing, but the dressing in itself was very bland. Definitely needs more flavor. Desserts were amazing. Pretzel appetizer was amazing with excellent mustard. Cheese sauce was not good. Our table agreed it tasted cheap. Service: our waitress was very attentive and social. We adjusted our order a few times as the menu itself is a bit confusing. Lots of photos scattered of things (drinks) that are easily missed for newcomers. Ambiance: Definitely felt like the restaurant had history. Tables were too tight and my purse was actually hitting the table behind us and I got bumped twice by a waitress as the tables are way too close. Not comfortable for a party of 8. We even moved once. A bit stuffy too. Needed more air flow.

We were able to get a table inside, although there was ample seating outside at their beer garden. It looked like there would be live music later in the evening. The inside is very nice and historic. They have an extensive menu, including a long drink menu with plenty of N/A options. I decided to get the fish fry because I heard it was popular. The bread that usually comes with fish fry came out first, which I actually preferred. It was delicious. I unfortunately cannot say the same for the fish. They give you four small pieces, almost like fish sticks. The outside coating was crunchy, but the breading was very thick. I was also not a fan of the spices they used on the fish. The taste was just off. The fries were okay. The service was good. Our server was attentive and friendly. The cost of the fish fry when I was here was $20. I personally think that is a little overpriced for the quality of food you get. I would consider coming back to order something else.

Sausage plate great! French onion soup... super ! Table service excellent..... On this particular visit the bar was a letdown. And that's where most customers start their evening....... That sets the tone. Maybe an off night, there were newer employees behind the bar. My brandy old fashion sweet was not even close. No muddle, bad mix.... It was terrible. A friend of mine took a sip and winced.... This is a staple cocktail in Wisconsin. Do it right or dont do it. I quietly returned the drink and asked for a whiskey on the rocks... I made no scene... then was charged for the whiskey as well!!! About 8 people were seated at the bar.... Brewers were playing..... end of game, extra innings. We asked if the tv could be turned on.....no volume necesssary, but was told management didn't want people to think this was a sports bar so we were politely told NO! .... It's a 100 yro German bar ..... we weren't trying to change its culture.... We've been going there for decades.... And in the past games had been televised. I'm thinking the tv was broke.... and that was the excuse? Why is the Tv even in the bar.... Someone also ordered a cab wine... none! ? Seriously? Unfortunately the bar was a big letdown.... I hope they pay attention and improve their bar game. I'll be back in October and probably will skip Kegels for the first time in a very long time.... I'm sure they'll survive.... But I'll be dining elsewhere..... However, the food as I said was very good....

The first thing that put us off was the seating. The restaurant wasn't busy, as it was around 4 pm, and there was plenty of seating. I am temporarily and obviously handicapped, yet the host took us way to the back of the restaurant, up some stairs, and to an elevated booth - why, when seating was available at the front and others were seated there? Our booth's table hadn't been cleaned and the banquette on my husband's side had crumbs all over and a glop of wet ketchup. Our sodas came very promptly, and we ordered and it took perhaps 15 minutes for our food. My husband did like his burger, and it was cooked to order. The French fries, though, were dry and not hot, just barely warm. He also got a cup of coleslaw, which he took home. I had a house side salad, which was good, accompanied by a bowl of soup. The soup was tepid at best and had a skin already formed on the surface; it was also the wrong flavor. I had ordered chicken tortilla and got clam chowder. I asked for the right soup, and for it to be hot; after waiting for 7 minutes, it was delivered, but I once again received clam chowder! I like clam chowder, and as I didn't see the server, I just ate it, and it was good - and hot. But still. What struck us as being very unprofessional was a cluster of between 5 and 7 servers, all hanging around a table playing with their phones and talking and laughing loudly amongst themselves. That just didn't leave a good impression with us. And the coleslaw my husband took home? He decided to eat it after having it in the fridge at home a couple hours, and it had a rancid, sour, spoiled taste. Not going back to BJ's, for sure!!

I wanted it to be fun, and something our guests would thoroughly enjoy. Being a big soft pretzel fan myself, I thought Auntie Anne's would be perfect! Soft pretzels fit the Milwaukee vibe of our wedding, and who doesn't love them (especially after a long night of drinking and dancing)?! I contacted Auntie Anne's to see if a large late night delivery was possible, and ended up speaking with Cherie. She is amazing! Cherie was so helpful in making my vision for this come true. She was easy to get in touch with, whether it was on the phone, texts, or emailing. She helped me decide on how many pretzels to order, and the variety of flavors. She personally delivered the food to our wedding and did a fantastic job. Everyone was so excited and enjoyed the salty food at the end of the night. If you're considering a late night snack, do it! You won't regret having Auntie Anne's at your wedding. People will keep talking about it after too!
