We'd been to BJ's once before and had a 5 star experience, so decided to try it again yesterday, and I'm sorry to say that it was not a repeat performance. The first thing that put us off was the seating. The restaurant wasn't busy, as it was around 4 pm, and there was plenty of seating. I am temporarily and obviously handicapped, yet the host took us way to the back of the restaurant, up some stairs, and to an elevated booth - why, when seating was available at the front and others were seated there? Our booth's table hadn't been cleaned and the banquette on my husband's side had crumbs all over and a glop of wet ketchup. Our sodas came very promptly, and we ordered and it took perhaps 15 minutes for our food. My husband did like his burger, and it was cooked to order. The French fries, though, were dry and not hot, just barely warm. He also got a cup of coleslaw, which he took home. I had a house side salad, which was good, accompanied by a bowl of soup. The soup was tepid at best and had a skin already formed on the surface; it was also the wrong flavor. I had ordered chicken tortilla and got clam chowder. I asked for the right soup, and for it to be hot; after waiting for 7 minutes, it was delivered, but I once again received clam chowder! I like clam chowder, and as I didn't see the server, I just ate it, and it was good - and hot. But still. What struck us as being very unprofessional was a cluster of between 5 and 7 servers, all hanging around a table playing with their phones and talking and laughing loudly amongst themselves. That just didn't leave a good impression with us. And the coleslaw my husband took home? He decided to eat it after having it in the fridge at home a couple hours, and it had a rancid, sour, spoiled taste. Not going back to BJ's, for sure!! read more

Sat at the bar. Cleared aside the glasses, etc from previous diners. 7 minutes- not even a greeting or acknowledgment 9 minutes - came over. I order dinner and drink immediately. Someone sat next to me and he was handed a menu as a second bartender saw me sitting here as well. Still no clean up next to me. No napkin. No set-up. Second Marg served w/o salted rim. Food served to wrong person Got it. Then had to get attention of bartender for the silverware. Jambalaya was "warm" not hot. Very disappointing. It was lacking flavor and very pedestrian. As things slowed down around 7:20, one bartender did check in on me. Nice! Overall, it's been many, many months since I've been back because of the service. I thought it one step above Applebees. But it has not improved and Applebees is likely a better choice. To be fair, as previously stated, it may be a managerial issue of understaffing, as much as it is poor service. Had a late lunch June 4 and my wife and I each ordered their Pizookkie special. I had the smash-burger which featured two ample patties, tomato, pickles, lettuce, onions and a special sauce which came with a healthy amount of seasoned fries. My wife had the fried chicken and succotash with a side salad. After the meal we ordered a caramel and chocolate Pizookie which was included in the price. Everything was delicious although I almost didn't have room for the desert (wait...there's always room for desert). I washed it all down with their Grass Attack IPA and Marie had a wine spritzer. 3 of us stopped at BJ's for breakfast during a trip and overnight in the Dells. While the restaurant was busy we were seated right away. The place is nice with local paintings/pictures on the wall you can purchase, this gives it a home town feel! The service is slow, but our server was friendly. We just had to wait several minutes to get what we needed, for example the pancakes were brought to the table but we didn't have syrup, had to wait several minutes for her to come back with that. I ran out of orange juice and never got my second that I asked for. As far as the food, it was solid! We had the corned beef Hash, an omelette and pancakes. All the meals the 3 of us orders were tasty and plentiful! If you are in the Dells stop by, you will get a good meal! read more

The host saw it and tried to brush food away with their hand, then proceeded to seat us with a lot of crumbs and food on the booth seats. The table next to us were also complaining about their dirty table also. The food took about 20 minutes. My salmon was good, however cold. Worst part was we ordered a strawberry lemonade and I am fairly certain there was alcohol in it, I was with someone who does not drink alcohol. Bathrooms needed attention. My experience started out not so good, as my friends and I went to the bar area for happy hour prior to our dinner reservation. The bartender informed us that we had to sit at the bar and not a table over there, so we moved to the bar. He told us he was busy making drinks for others. For over 10 minutes we waited and we weren't given menus. The bar wasn't even half full. A manager came over and took our order, made our drinks for us and was very friendly. We got another round made by the bartender which were not good at all. We weren't even going to say anything. But when we didn't drink them, the manager asked us about them. He re-made them for us and they were excellent. Our server's name was Kay. She was very nice. When one of our desserts was brought out and wasn't right, she immediately noticed and made it right. She anticipated our needs and was attentive. All of the food we ordered was served hot and no one had a complaint. We had Brussels sprouts, burgers, fries, wedge salad, and chicken bacon ranch Piadina. For the couple things that weren't up to par, the manager on duty from 3-6PM on Dec 26, along with our server named Kay, made it better. We moved to this area in May 2025. Since then, we have gone to this location a number of times for special occasions. Unfortunately, the staff has been cold and distant each time. We went again last night for my birthday. We had the same lackluster experience. I don't know if it's because we don't order appetizers or alcoholic drinks but it just seems like the staff doesn't care if we're there at all. Even before sitting down at the table, no one really greets you in a friendly manner or asks if you're there for anything special.. Last night, my daughter didn't even have a chance to specify how she wanted her hamburger. When she finally got to speak up, the waitress had said she had already sent it to the kitchen with the ordering device. We all ordered sodas and mine tasted so flat that I asked if it was diet when I normally get regular. I did ask the waitress to bring a different one, but it tasted the same but I didn't say anything. The food was good at least. The ribeye is always reliable. But for this being a special occasion place for us, we were pretty disappointed with the lack of friendly service. I might try Outback next time or go to Mayors, which is a local place in Waukesha. I went there recently with my brother and the service was fabulous, very friendly and outgoing and engaging. When people are working for tips, they should at least pretend that they are happy that you're there. read more

She was very nice but it was weird we got sat in an area with nobody working it. Food: the food was fine but for boneless wings and fries it'll cost you over $20. They ask if you want fries with your wings as if it's included but then they add the $6 fries to the $15 boneless wings. Over $20 for bland boneless wings and simple fries is absurd. My smash burger was an embarrassment. The bun was way bigger than the patties. The patties, combined, added up to maybe a 1/4 lb. I did ask for a plain cheeseburger. Food was absolutely delicious! Meatballs and spaghetti was out of this world. Cheeseburger was perfection.( when you don't need any condiments on a burger because of the juicy flavor that is 10 out of 10). Service was phenomenal. They were packed and it was 130 pm no less. Our server went above and beyond for us because the app gives a free dessert when you sign up but for some reason it showed a charge. So after some figuring out ect we got it for free like the app stated. Server was so accommodating and helped us out tremendously because of it. Not many servers do that. The place itself is cute. I visited this establishment for the first time the other day and let me just say that I was astonished. The service was amazing and my waiter was lovely. It was a little crowded and I felt like I was in the middle of the room, but the booth was very comfy. The bathroom was also one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen. I ordered the Brewhouse Bites Sampler with queso and it was delicious! I do not usually like chicken, but their Honey BBQ boneless chicken is now my new favorite. To end my time there, I ordered the Salted Caramel Pizookie. I was not expecting anything more than a cookie with ice cream, but to my surprise, I received a warm and gooey cookie with tasty ice cream. Been to BJ's multiple times before, this experience was the same wonderful experience as usual! The all American smash is always a good pick in the meal deal! We always choose the Salted caramel Pizookie for desert. Server was very nice and efficient, ambiance is a mix between a sports bar and a brewpub and the interior always looks nice. Stopped in for happy hour on a weeknight. They have a good selection of apps, drinks, etc for happy hour, as well as a sweet deal during the week for dinner/pizookie (cookie pizza) for $13. The server was a little confusing at first with which beers had which HH deal applied to them (some were $5, others were $1 off), but it worked out in the end. She was also helpful with letting us split the bill. We all got the $13 meal deal that night and tried a variety of pizookies without various entrees. I heard the fried chicken dish was good, the mini deep dish pizza with salad was great, and the burger with fries was just okay. All pizookies were tasty but the hot fudge brownie had a lot of pecans on it. Definitely recommend the triple chocolate. The bar area is huge and there's plenty of parking. I'm in the business for 30+ years, so I get it, but this was just bad. The bartenders were more worried with pre-closing three hours before they were scheduled to close than taking care of guests. The food, the service, the ambiance (TVs on regular CBS shows an hour after the NCAA games were over), lack of awareness, the apathy, etc... Last night, we went to BJ's for a birthday celebration with my husband and his mother. While we were told there would be a 15-30 minute wait, we asked if it would be okay to sit at the bar and order a drink while waiting. His mom wasn't there yet, so my husband and I sat down at the bar. About ten minutes went by, and both bartenders made multiple rounds -- skipping over us every time. I told my husband, "I guess no one is going to help us." Finally, the blonde bartender came over, dropped off drink menus, and when my husband said we were ready to order, she simply repeated, "This is the drink menu," and walked away. We continued to wait, watching other guests walk up and get served immediately. I politely said, "Ma'am," to get her attention, and she slowly turned around with a snobby, dismissive tone and said, "Yes?" I asked to speak to a manager, and she replied, "In regards to what?" I explained that we had been sitting there for over 15 minutes without service while others were being helped right away. She then said, "If you want a manager, you can get up, go up front, and ask to speak to one. I'm just too busy for that," and then shrugged her shoulders. I was stunned at how rude and unprofessional that interaction was. How dare you treat paying customers that way? This was only my second time visiting BJ's and it will be my last. The manager seemed intimidated and unwilling to address the issue. I'd highly recommend management review recent reviews -- because it's clear this bartender's behavior has been mentioned before. read more

Great new brewhouse to replace the TGI Fridays on Bluemound Rd. The restaurant opened about a week ago and was very busy for 5pm on a Monday. I was greeted and sat promptly and the server stopped by immediately to take my order. They had almost too many servers and one person who seemed to be there just to monitor the floor and direct servers only. The food came out fairly fast, slight delay possibly from the thicker crust pizza and how busy they were. The pizza was excellent and flavorful. Mondays are the night to go for their half off pizza deal! I was impressed by their kids menu which gave more options than usual for the main entree and side choice. Bonus points for having smaller portioned desserts for kids! They also give a free kids starter which is a pack of goldfish and small fruit cup which every parent will love as it keeps the kids busy til their food arrives. We got a free pizookie for dessert by signing up for the rewards program. It was a perfect size to share and the right level of sweetness. The beer menu was huge and so I got a flight to try several at once. I enjoyed them all, but the Berry Cider stood out as most unique despite a low 3% ABV. I also appreciated their N/A options called refreshers which I'd also say should be listed as mocktails for when people google search for them. Overall I think the pros are: Daily specials Large drink menu Rewards program Kid friendly The cons: The main entrance faces Bluemound Rd, despite there being only a small handful of close parking spaces. Note you can enter from the patio area, but it's not very obvious and kind of a busy walking spot for servers. read more

Took my mom there for a quick late lunch after shopping on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was warm, friendly, made a few suggestions and had our beverages there very quickly while we decided on lunch. My mom & I both had the small salads while we waited for our pizza. They were both better than I expected for a side salad. I really like the tavern pizza, my mom didn't care for it too much but I think that was just a matter of the flavor she didn't care for with the sauce. Overall, everything was very good. I wish I remembered the waitresses name, she made the experience worthwhile, made sure our beverages were always filled when we needed and check back at appropriate times to check if we needed anything & how we enjoyed the food. Met a friend who recently retired and thought this would be a nice central location for a mid afternoon, catch-up on a Thursday. The logistics of the parking lot are a nightmare. It was not designed well for a restaurant at all. The host was friendly and showed me to a table within a few minutes which was great. My friend came in a few minutes later so the wait times are very short which is great. The restaurant was busy so the limited wait was a pleasant experience. The waitress took quite along time to take the initial order which was disappointing. I only wanted a drink and was surprised the server didn't recommend anything to persuade me to at least "try" an appetizer after saying "is there anything you recommend". My friend order soup and was told the one she wanted would take 40 minutes. She ordered a different one which although she ate it said it was "okay" at best. The service was the problem during this visit as the server seemed to be focused elsewhere. So that is the reason for the low rating. The location is problematic, and not easy to navigate the parking lot. The restaurant itself, to include the restrooms was immaculate which is a HUGE PLUS. I didn't try the food so this review is based on service. Taking this visit into account I'm not sure if I would go again seeing as there are other options with better locations however I wouldn't rule it out completely read more

Service average, food awful. 4 of us dined on Friday evening. Within 10 min of ordering our server returned to tell one of us that his pizza was no longer available ! Another order was chicken parm with pasta. The food was delivered looked like a burned beyond recognition chicken breast. Black, burned, and hard because it was over cooked. I tried to cut into the chicken but no...... it was hard as a rock. flagged down the server and said it was unacceptable. She had this bewildered look like ..what's wrong with it. I sent it back. My entree returned to me long long after everyone else had finished eating. When YOU ruin my meal it should be priority ONE to remake it. Instead I went to the bottom of the line and waited. 25 min. The server wasn't experienced or if she was she wasn't good. When the bill was delivered she said she took off $13.00 because I sent back my meal. WHAT???? I've tried this restaurant a couple times and I'm just not satisfied. Today I came in and there was nobody in the restaurant and I had to wait for somebody to come wait on me. Then I ordered iced tea and there's very little ice in it so it's warm. The sugar packets must have gotten wet at some point because you can't get the sugar out of them. The place is really spacious BUT I was not happy getting cold food after waiting an hour, the server was nice but something was going on in that kitchen that needed order. Nevertheless, after waiting another hour to get a fresh sandwich, most everyone in my party was already done. Our female Quality Manager didn't receive her burger for about 1.5 hours. This was a terrible choice but I didn't make it and they need manager and chef that won't allow their customers to wait that long to present something they probably wouldn't eat. read more

1st time visiting and it started off ruff. I am disabled and walk with a cane, they tried seating us in a booth, the option was to wait (but they couldn't figure out how long it would be). So I tried, but the booth was so tight I was unable to sit down and I took matters into my own hands and moved us to an open table. The manager came over, but there was no way she was going to move us. Now on to the food, I think I prefer a Red Robin burger. Came with a group of 17 women for our book club on Thursday night. The restaurant is large and we were seated immediately at two tables next to each other. I was surprised how busy they were for a Thursday night so kudos to them. I ordered from their $13 special list which I thought was the best deal. I had a house salad with balsamic vinegrette dressing and a personal vegetarian pan pizza. I finished the salad and one piece of the pizza because I wanted to save room for the dessert that was included. I ordered the Pizookie Salted Caramel dessert. Warm caramel cookie with sweet almond toffee | crunchy pretzel bites | white + Ghirardelli ® dark chocolate chips | rich vanilla bean ice cream | caramel sauce . Since it had ice cream I knew I wasn't going to be able to take it home. I never order dessert at a restaurant so it was a fun treat and was so yummy!! We were greeted immediately when we arrived. BJ's has a sports bar feel. They were not very busy, yet the noise level was fairly high. Our server was nice and suggested soke of the menu highlights. The potstickers were pan fried and were burned , so the one side was crunchy. The flavor I think was good. We had a thin crust pizza. The crust was crispy at the edges and soft inside. The surf and turf stack was delicious. My friend also enjoyed her tri tip and ribs. We finished with the dessert sampler. Who doesn't love a warm cookie with ice cream?? Again, the preparation was off, as the edges were burned and middle uncooked. Our server was not quick to return with refills. I took a day to think about my review.
