Small pizza. Very tasty and not greasy. Major hit!
    Lindsey D.

Every pizza joint has it's signature. Soly's doesn't rely on it's cheese or grease factor to make it delicious. I purchased a pizza for my parent's who is not an eager beaver for pies. They've demolished it. Saying the crust is something special, flavour was beautiful and one of the better pies they've enjoy. To my astonishment when I checked back which pizza I purchased. It was the "meat lover". Try it!

    Great for people watching
    Christopher J.

Perusing the streets in a new city with my 10 year old daughter who wanted pizza, I decided on Soly's Pizza because the guy working the counter (Soly?) seemed inviting. We decided on the $18.50 special; a bunch of slices and 2 sodas. Not sure what all the slices were, but some were 'the usual picks' pepperoni, cheese, etc. I think the others included vegan, Hawaiian, etc... it didn't matter. We were hangry and looking for a variety! ...and they were good! Nice sized slices with the right weight. He warmed them up when asked...the bathroom was both unisex, small but modern and clean. 2 tv's played sports overhead. And we had a great view for people watching from sit-up tables by the window. The best part was the chance meeting of a relative that just happened to walk by...in all the thousands of people in Vancouver! What were the odds? Overall...good pizza, prices, location and customer service. I'd recommend it and visit again!

The stomboli was fresh and the dough just the right mix of crunchy and soft. Yum! Recommended.

Went in for random slices, I got a deep dish slice, was the best deep dish I ever had! I'm 48 and quarter Italian.

Definitely the best pizza in Vancouver. It's family run and they are always inventing new pies to try. I keep coming back!!

Ambiance & setting: A+ Service: excellent…read more Food: amazing We ordered: 1. Beef tartare ($28) 2. Brussel sprouts ($18) 3. Truffle mushroom pizza ($28) 4. Fried chicken ($24) surprisingly really good, and probably one of the best fried chicken I've ever had. It sounds basic, but the honey glazed flavor was amazing. 5. Lobster spaghetti ($65) 6. Wagyu steak ($65) 7. Lemon tart ($16) 8. Pot de crème ($14) Everything was worth getting, but I'd probably skip the tartare next time. Overall, great food at a cute dinner spot with beautiful high ceilings, candlelight's, and a nice bar.

It's a two-story space off of Hastings with a bar downstairs that has table seating and a somewhat quieter upstairs dining area where the kitchen is. I prefer the upstairs area, but both are fine. Don't be misled by the fact that reservations for the bar don't mean that you have to sit at the bar. It could mean anywhere in the downstairs area. The menu is a combination of surprisingly upscale food and straightforward dishes such as pizza, but the pizza is just not ordinary pizza, even though it's reasonably priced. In fact, it's one of the best pizzas in Vancouver. The appetizers are varied and extraordinary. We had the hamachi, which let the fish shine through, and the kanpachi, which was a complex preparation that we particularly enjoyed. Another surprise was the cauliflower hummus, which was much more layered and intricate than you might expect. Service was excellent, and there is a thoughtful wine list plus an enormous selection of liquors such as whiskies and even Amaro. In fact, they have tasting flights of different whiskies and Amaro, which I always particularly appreciate.

Stopped by Nook on Denman Street for a casual Italian comfort food dinner…read more The Food The kitchen turns out straightforward, well-executed classics. We shared a pizza and the Rigatoni Boscaiola. The pizza crust had great leopard-spotting and a chewy, blistered edge, with the tomato sauce tasting bright and fresh rather than sugary. The rigatoni was cooked properly al dente, catching plenty of that savory, creamy mushroom-and-sausage sauce. It's thoroughly satisfying, though like many rich pasta dishes, the sauce leans on the heavier, saltier side toward the last few bites. We finished with a slice of their house tiramisu, which was airy, nicely soaked with espresso, and not overly sweet. The Service Lively, attentive, and down-to-earth. The staff handled the dinner rush smoothly, we were greeted warmly, menus were dropped right away, and wine recommendations were casual and honest. Even with a queue forming near the door, we never felt aggressively pushed out, though the pacing of the plates is definitely brisk. The Ambiance Snug, energetic, and very much a classic West End neighborhood joint. It's a tight room with warm lighting, rustic wood accents, and a bustling open kitchen/bar area that fills the space with good cooking aromas. Because tables are packed closely together, the noise level climbs quickly once the room fills up, so it feels more vibrant and buzz-y than quiet and intimate.

Woefully sub-average. It is best I can describe this place…read more Entered the place on a Monday afternoon whilst three East Indian men chillaxing in the dining area. They quickly jumped at my presence and returned to their stations as if they're caught slacking off. First idea was to order a deep dish but a few moments later upon entry I decided otherwise. I opted for 2 slices and a pop. Meatloaf and cheese. The sever didn't bother to warm them. They were dry and like old pizzas. Taste is okay/sub/average considering the price but very unlikely I will return.

I didn't have very high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the pizzas here. They offer a variety of veggie and meat pizzas that can be made with regular crust or deep dish style. We ordered a small deep dish margharita ($19.99) and a medium deep dish butter chicken ($23.99) pizza. Both weren't true deep dish pizzas, but the crust was nice and thick. I'd recommend the pizzas here to anyone who likes a breadier crust. My only minor complaint is that the pizzas didn't have enough sauce to complement the thick crust. The pizzas kept well for leftovers too. They tasted just as good the next day heated up in our toaster oven.
