Horrible customer service. Went with a group of 4 and the dude behind the counter gave my sister horrible attitude for no reason when we were already waiting patiently for 5 minutes without a word. Idk if he was just having a bad day but he was acting like us trying to rent snorkel gear was an inconvenience to him which is crazy when we're paying you money. Every time that we go to Maui, which is twice a year, we rent all our gear, chairs, umbrella, ice chest, snorkel equipment, from Auntie Snorkel. We book on line a month prior to our arrival, and stop by the Lahaina shop to pick up the gear after leaving the airport, on our way To Napili Bay where we stay. The staff there is the best, period. The products were great, what you'd expect from a snorkel rental. The actual storefront is extremely clean and well organized. But what really made this place 5 stars were the people who worked here. All the staff were extremely knowledgeable about snorkeling, where to snorkel on the island, even checked current conditions for different places we were thinking of going, we're so helpful about sizing the flippers for us, etc. and we're just so friendly. I accidentally booked at the wrong location and so I was texting them about it and it felt like texting a friend. They were so gracious and reassuring and validating. We rented two beach chairs and two umbrellas from Auntie Snorkel. The beach chairs and the umbrellas were Tommy Bahama brand, which is important because the umbrellas stand up against the Maui winds. The owner offered to give us an ice chest or boogie board at no extra charge which was very generous! Mark was very easy to work with, he contacted us upon our arrival to make sure we were picking up the items we had reserved. Easy drop off right before we went to the airport - we just left the items in front of the store and texted the shop. Scott, aka Scotty with a body, was great. Coming straight in from the airport before our hotel in Kaanapali Beach made this location super easy. They had lots of gear and beach rentals. They also have some weekly deals and buy 2 get 1 free which we used for a free beach umbrella. Scotty was friendly and welcoming while he explained how to use the snorkeling equipment and GoPro. In and out in minutes. The snorkel gear worked flawlessly and came in handy to be able to swim at any beach of our choice. Resorts charge much more and are usually limited to the local beach spot. Everything was sanitized and in near new condition. This location was easy pickup and drop off with a big parking lot. Groceries are available in the same lot or across the street. Found Auntie Snorkel on Yelp and chose them because of the great reviews and flexibility with pickup/dropoff between Kihei and Lahaina and they did not disappoint! Online booking was simple and straightforward and it continued upon arrival. Loads of sizes to choose from and all the equipment looked well cared for. It served us very well on our various snorkeling adventures! I was really pleased with the service though: staff was attentive to our needs and also checked in if we wanted a map - at first we thought, no, we have Sat Nav and know where to go. But then - thankfully! - we had a second thought that it would be great to hear advice and they were so helpful! Advised us exactly where to go and on which days and times to go to each place based on weather patterns and how that would impact our experience. As a result, we visited places we didn't know about and also avoided times of day that would have made things less fun (aka cold or murky); we had highly enjoyable experiences in West and South Maui just taking our gear and snorkeling out from beaches. Rent from this place, just do it! It's a family-owned business. We met the owner and he was so friendly and genuine, knowledgeable and helpful. Their online order system is so easy. They had promotions running for discounts. It was straightforward and easy and very fairly priced. They had our gear ready for us when we arrived, and let us inspect everything before we left the store. They have a great inventory of products for sale in store if there's anything additional you need for your adventures on the island. We made a big mistake with returning our equipment and the owner went ABOVE-AND-BEYOND, I mean it, to help us out. He didn't even charge us for after hours or charge us any fees. One main reason we went with them and not others is because of their great locations. They allow you to rent from one location and return to another. I had placed the order online which made things very confusing for the counter person to help; the chairs were all very dirty; the boogie boards were so tired and beat up that we opted out of renting one; I was overcharged but there was no discussing this with the counter person when I checked out. Burton! Thank you he made our experience of Maui the best. The only thing I would change is coming to him the first day we got here. Burton rented our group of 7 snorkels life jackets some wetsuits and a boogie board. He took his time and chatted with us and showed us their screen with how the water is for snorkeling in various areas. He gave us our favorite spots to snorkel and the best place for my son to ride his boogie board. I was nervous because the beach is called slaughterhouse but my son seriously boogie boarded for 8 hours straight! Burton made our trip memorable and we loved all his recommendations.
