We've been eager to try this restaurant for a while, and we're glad to finally get a chance to visit. It calls its food "modern Mediterranean," though I think "fusion" would work too because the dishes seem as much a blending of cultures as of time periods. For example pizza. I don't think I've ever seen pizza at a traditional Mediterranean restaurant, but you have a choice between at least 6 kinds here!! I chose the whipped ricotta pizza which was unbelievable, both fresh and leftover!! My wife felt the same way about her arugula and red beet salad. Their creativity spills over into the desserts too. In the photos you can see that we opted for the limoncello cake and the Mediterranean cheesecake. It's a great place to bring a date; classy, quiet and full of surprises. Very good food- I had the calamari, mushroom soup and the burger along with their special chips. The food definitely has an elevated presentation and tastes excellent. I thought the atmosphere could use some work though- the floor feels like a basement floor and bathrooms I felt have more like a grocery store bathroom vibe than for a place of this caliber though you can tell they tried with small touches but still feels hollow. I loved the ambient lighting around the bar. We sat downstairs in one of the large, comfortable booths, & could see the upstairs area looked nice as well. I really enjoyed the Super Tuscan wine. The Aura martini (which contains olive oil) seemed to be enjoyed by the others in my party. Stand out dishes were the Mediterranean Shrimp (app), Lamb Kabobs (app), and Branzino (entree). We were seated quickly, even without a reservation. This is a tapas type place. So we decided to split a couple small plates. I went for the Greek salad, Mediterranean shrimp and carpaccio. This was our date night choice Friday! It was our first time there and we were instantly impressed. The place is niiice! It wasn't too busy for a Friday night but we did go in a little late and were seated right away. My husband wanted to sit upstairs and we were accommodated no problem. The food was great! I can't say enough about this place. It was so cozy and elegant this evening. The service was top notch. I literally could not think of one area for improvement there. The food is by far the best on the West Shore, if not the whole Central PA area. The new fall menu started tonight and we took advantage of it! We tried the mushroom and butternut squash soups. Both are absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous. We also had the arugula pear salad which had figs on it. It was dressed lightly and was full of flavor. Lastly, we had the pizza with sausage and pepperoni. Needless to stay, we left there full. We enjoyed refreshing drinks from the bar menu also. Just when you think a place can't get better, it does. My wife and I had been to Aura once shortly after it originally opened. We enjoyed it. We went last night as an early birthday present to me. Skipping ahead. The host was friendly and welcoming. The waiters who checked on us when our waitress disappeared were wonderful. Our waitress (older, bright eyed, maybe Italian woman) was awful. I've never had a waiter speed by my table, drop off my cocktail and not even say "there you go." She might as well have tossed it to me. It was as if we offended her before we got there. 5 star food, 5 star atmosphere, and if we had any other staff member serving us...‍ long and short of it bad service can make or break a good meal. We didn't let her ruin our night! But... next time we'll just sit at the bar. read more

This was just a pretty poor experience. To start with some of the highs our server was amazing and the tuna tartare was delicious but the rest goes downhill quickly. The evening started quite poorly with parking being hard to find (yes, in both the front and back) and then once we were inside they also could not give us a table even though we had a reservation. The hostess told us that someone else was at our table and they would need to find us another. From there on out the food, except the tuna, was quite mediocre but then the pizza arrived... The Portuguese pizza was the worst pizza I have had in years. We had one slice and quickly realized that we needed a box. I literally wanted a box so I could share it with all of my coworkers the next day to see their reaction. It is not a great sign when your food gets used as a prank. read more

I chose a one star because you cannot choose a zero. The ambiances lovely but make sure you tell them you will not walk up those huge steep steps and sit upstairs. They told me they had local beer like Bud light Miller lite on tap and that was a lie. They have peroni and IPA. The service was so slow. We almost looked. Two people ordered says at over $20 a piece and they were not enough for two people. I ordered The house chicken stuffed with Brie and mushrooms and Parmesan risotto and asparagus. I think they killed a peep! It was so overcooked it was hard to chew. My friend actually told the waiter, whom we had to flag down after some time, that it was the worst pizza she ever had in her life. They said well. Would you like soup? She said yes and they brought this huge bowl with about 6 oz of soup in it. The other pizza was with crab and it wasn't microscopic but there were two little blobs on each piece. I would never ever go back there and my friend, who recommended it, said she would never go back again. Save your money. My little tiny chicken was $33. It was so overdone and chewy. Aura is a classy-casual place with high-end food, drinks, and service. It's the sort of place to take a prom date, or maybe that slightly more suit-oriented team from work. It is a bit spendy, but everything fits well with the price point. I happened to go without reservations and got right in for a late dinner midweek, but I recommend reservations if you're making plans. I'll definitely visit Aura again. read more

Chef from New York that travels down to my parents in Virginia and I just love when I stumble upon a gem. Food was fantastic we almost ended up at a pub nearby and glad my wife twisted my arm. Service was amazing our waiter Aaron was so personable - local college kid that was so nice and attentive. Lamb kebabs were perfect and succulent. Everything had tons of flavor. The iberico ham was off the charts. Price point was a little high probably for the neighborhood but you definitely get what you pay for and I think once people try this place once you'll be begging to be more. We had the pleasure of visiting Aura during its opening weekend! The ambiance was beautiful. The decor puts you in the mindset of getting away and being on a vacation. The service was excellent the host staff was friendly, the servers were attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and the owners were welcoming and took the time to visit guests thanking them for visiting Aura. The food was incredible. So different than anything I have ever experienced. The ingredients are high quality and you can really taste the difference. I enjoyed the New York strip, my portion was huge and served for 2 more meals, the steak melted in my mouth and the potatoes prepared with it were a delicious pesto potatoes. Sooo good! I had Panna cotta for dessert, it was light and sweet, the perfect treat to end my experience! read more

I don't really get the mediterranean vibes though, this is more what american people think mediterranean vibes are like. the calamari was very tender, the arancini was pretty good, and was not disappointed by the iberian pizza, but was kind of shocked at how little meat you get with the kabobs for $18. this is a more upscale restaurant but this isn't new york city nor is it authentic mediterranean food, so I don't really see any justification for the prices. it may be worth checking out for a special occasion but the value is just not there, and more authentic food exists in the area without these prices.
