    Process meat aka real veal

I order a veal Parmesan spaghetti platter and asked prior to ordering if it was real veal the waitress stated she did not know but she would ask the cook. Surprise surprise what did i get process Pattie that's it for me three strikes you are out.

    Gus's feast

A trip to visit family in Mount Joy is NEVER complete without at least one trip to Gus's. I have tried breakfast more times than I can count and have also taken a "tour" of the menu from sandwiches, to classic dinners to seafood. During my latest visit, I ordered one of the specials, the pumpkin bread French toast. Oh my goodness - three large slices of homemade pumpkin bread, grilled and served with cinnamon cream cheese. It was delicious. I ate till I was stuffed and still brought home enough for breakfast the next day plus dessert that night. Just writing this is making me crave it. Speaking of breakfast, my parents usually always order "Gus's Feast". 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 pancakes, homefries AND toast - this much food at one sitting should be illegal! There are always enough leftovers for at least another meal. "Leftovers" seems to be a theme here - if you leave Gus's hungry, it's your own fault. It would be one thing if were just a lot of food on a plate but I have yet to find anything I haven't liked. I could go on and list each menu item that I have tried but I'm going to let you be the judge. I don't think you can go wrong!

    Greek salad with salmon

We visited during lunch and had great meals both days. I was pleased my coworker was excited to come back on day 2. Service both days was quick and very friendly and the food was excellent. Day 1 was stuffed cabbages which were wonderful -- sweet tomato sauce with slightly spicy filling. I wasn't thrilled to get gravy on the mashed potatoes buy I also didn't request it be left off. My coworker had the Greek salad with a huge piece of salmon. She is a foodie and said it was great. Today, I got a super club and she got something I called the Captains Platter; I'm not sure what was on it but she loved it and took half home. Two days of great meals, friendly service, and good coffee. Thanks, Gus's!

Looking to try someplace new and nearby, we decided to try Gus's, a long time local favorite. When we arrived it was after lunch and it was fairly empty, but by 3 pm there was a steady customer stream. There are several distinct dining areas. We were seated front by the window. We started off with some nicely brewed iced tea. The menu is extensive with Greek and American traditional fare - sandwiches, dinners, sides and appetizers. We went all over the menu considering the liver and onions, the croquettes, and salmon cakes, but settled on an egg and olive sandwich and a corned beef sandwich. I got mine with a cup of Italian wedding soup. We also chose rice pudding made in house. Everything was fresh and tasty. Price point was under $30 for both of us plus gratuity. I couldn't get many photos but this eatery is pretty well reviewed. I think anyone could find something tasty on this menu any time of the day.

Large seating area, very friendly and helpful staff, large selection on the menu. Kind of a Greek restaurant. Food was good, very reasonable and quickly served.

    Mexican Omelette
    Stephen L.

Gus's is a long time favorite of families and, frankly, older folks in the Mount Joy area. I ordered the Mexican Omelette, which was decent, but I feel like if I bought those ingredients from the grocery store and just threw them together to make the omelette, it would taste about the same (which is not a good thing for the restaurant). The chorizo sausage was tasty though and had a bit of a spicy kick. The omelette was a bit watery at the bottom and could use some more seasoning/flavor. I also got the Boston Cream Pie, which was good but standard. At least the prices were pretty cheap, as the omelette was $11 and the Boston Cream Pie was $4.29. There is a large interior seating area which is clean but very plain in terms of decor/atmosphere, though there is a classic rustic diner kind of feel. There is a huge parking lot out front which is convenient. The service speed was pretty quick. Overall, Gus's is not bad, but the food and environment are both quite bland so unless you are coming as a family tradition, you might be better off looking elsewhere.

"It's like Chipotle, but Mediterranean food!" This is how friends and family described Cava to me…read morewhen it first opened, and it's the reason why I'm such a late convert -- Chipotles are usually dirty and their food is in the news too often associated with making people sick. Cava is nothing like that. I got a chance to try the food for a work lunch event and enjoyed the food so much that I've introduced it to my husband and daughter as one of our more health quick dinner options. I've tried a variety of proteins and topping options in the BYO bowl and have been really pleased with the food quality and variety--I love all the traditional sauces (harissa, tzatziki), and the hubs loves the crazy feta. For dressing options, I highly recommend the lemon herb tahini and tahini Caesar. The online ordering is so simple and everything is completely customizable -- the hubs and kid can nix onions from their bowls and I can add all the onion options to mine. Everyone's happy! There are reserved to-go parking spaces right at the front entrance, so it's convenient to park there, run in to the pick up rack and grab my order. In and out in less than 5 min. If you eat-in, there plenty of room and seating inside and they even have a little outdoor area out back during the warm weather months. The staff work quick, so the order line generally moves well, but you occasionally have someone who is new to the concept asking a lot of questions about options, so that takes a little more time. For the most part the staff are patient in helping people who are struggling with the menu. The one miss? The desserts. We ordered the chocolate chip brownie once to share and were surprised by how small it was-- a little bigger than an AirPod case and an inch thick. Two bites, which for one person is enough, but not really a shareable. And for the price? For a pre-packaged brownie, essentially? Not worth it. Skip the sweet stuff and stick with the bowls.

Tatiana herself greeted us and sat us at a perfect table in the corner where we could look out at the restaurant. The food matched the first impression - presentation was superb! We started with the appetizer of chicken meatballs - 6 delicious bites to share. Flavor was on spot and the white sauce sweet yet savory. Next cam our dinners. Each served with soup (Ukranian borscht), lovely mixed salad, and homemade dinner rolls - to die for! We started with the Ukranian Ice Tea - and first for me. And now a staple! It had a hint of fruit tones, not too sweet, very cold, and refreshing! I had 2 glasses. We ordered the Ukranian Stew which comes with Ukrainian rice (another fabulous staple - I will add this as an additional side dish to any ongoing visits we make, it's that good). The sauce on the stew was perfectly seasoned as well - with a hint of cardamom and perhaps cinnamon? It was a perfect blend of savory with hint of sweetness to compliment the chicken, chicken sausage, beef tips, vegetables, and more that made up the stew. The sauce was worthy of a spoon to ensure every morsel was consumed - with bread to wipe the bowl clean! The portion sizes are generous as well. The second entre was the Colosseum Tortellini Combo with chicken, chicken sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese tortellini all tossed in a Asiago Alfredo Marinera sauce. A other enjoyable dish. While we did not have dessert, the selections looked equally scrumptious! We will try the pumpkin cheesecake when we return. This is a family run business. Ash is the Chef, Tatiana runs the front if the house. They have a second floor dinkng space that can seat up to 50! Great spot for special event or party. Even Tatiana's mother participates with her dessert baking. Both Ash & Tatian were delightful. It was like being invited to a friend's home for a feast! Highly recommend trying. I know we will return to try numerous other items on the menu.

I started off with their spinach pie. It was what I would describe as a roll studded with sauteed spinach and onions and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. When asking the waitress, I asked if it would be similar to spanakopita, she said it was, but the heavy doughy bread was not really what I had hoped for or expected. Was it good, yes. Would I order it again, no. For my main I went with the Lamb Kebab in Pita. Grilled lamb, lettuce, tomato, parsley, onions, and a light hummus spread. The lamb was a little chewy but the flavors of the fresh vegetables and the seasoned lamb blended well together. I am not always the biggest fan of hummus and find that it tends to be too gritty for my texture pallet. However, this spread was mixed with a creamy sauce of some kind that really brought out the flavor without that grittiness that you sometimes find in hummus. The food came out fast, from the time we sat down till we finished our food it was just under an hour. So overall a good experience. When it came time to pay, we never received an itemized bill, we were just given a total. Later on, doing the math, we found that for the two bills at our table, both were considerably different than the prices listed on the menu, even after adding on the standard 6% tax. Based on the differences, we can only assume that the prices listed on the menu and website are no longer the actual price of the meal. Or, both our bills just happened to be messed up. We can't really say. But that alone for me changed this from a 5 star experience to a 3. The Grill is listed as a 5.2 currently on my Beli, and again, for me I do not like transparency on pricing or total charges but the food itself and the ambiance is a really nice experience.
