From the moment we walked in the door we knew this place was special. Set in a charming two story historic house we entered from the back where an outdoor deck with seating was present and walked into an inviting dining room that had about 8+ tables - the atmosphere peaceful, intimate, warm, and inviting. Tatiana herself greeted us and sat us at a perfect table in the corner where we could look out at the restaurant. The food matched the first impression - presentation was superb! We started with the appetizer of chicken meatballs - 6 delicious bites to share. Flavor was on spot and the white sauce sweet yet savory. Next cam our dinners. Each served with soup (Ukranian borscht), lovely mixed salad, and homemade dinner rolls - to die for! We started with the Ukranian Ice Tea - and first for me. And now a staple! It had a hint of fruit tones, not too sweet, very cold, and refreshing! I had 2 glasses. We ordered the Ukranian Stew which comes with Ukrainian rice (another fabulous staple - I will add this as an additional side dish to any ongoing visits we make, it's that good). The sauce on the stew was perfectly seasoned as well - with a hint of cardamom and perhaps cinnamon? It was a perfect blend of savory with hint of sweetness to compliment the chicken, chicken sausage, beef tips, vegetables, and more that made up the stew. The sauce was worthy of a spoon to ensure every morsel was consumed - with bread to wipe the bowl clean! The portion sizes are generous as well. The second entre was the Colosseum Tortellini Combo with chicken, chicken sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese tortellini all tossed in a Asiago Alfredo Marinera sauce. A other enjoyable dish. While we did not have dessert, the selections looked equally scrumptious! We will try the pumpkin cheesecake when we return. This is a family run business. Ash is the Chef, Tatiana runs the front if the house. They have a second floor dinkng space that can seat up to 50! Great spot for special event or party. Even Tatiana's mother participates with her dessert baking. Both Ash & Tatian were delightful. It was like being invited to a friend's home for a feast! Highly recommend trying. The food was incredible. I am very picky and prefer to only eat grass fed beef. I was happy this restaurant does serve grass fed beef! The steak was cooked rare, placed on top of a white sauce tortellini, and some kind of balsamic glaze. The presentation was beautiful! Entrees are served with borsch to start and that was delicious too. The service was great. She was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. After our dinners were finished, our server presented a beautiful platter of different cheesecakes. Yes please! I got the apple cheesecake and it was amazing. Not too sweet and very creamy. Single night stay and this place had great reviews and was close by... so why not I'll start by saying all my reviews are based on a 1-5 global scale... 5 being the most fabulous you could imagine. Based on this, the food was a very good 4. Setting seems to be a converted 2 story house, nicely appointed and clean. Looks like it might be a husband/wife team. WORST dining experience that i have had in 30 years. Chef/hostess/server/owner (same person) was extremely rude and not very hospitable. While food was good, do not expect it to be made according to menu description (for example, my dish was either missing the Romesco sauce - or it was extremely light and barely noticeable). We were the only table at the time (2:30 p.m.) and the owner made it very obvious that he was going out of his way to serve us lunch as he did not want us to impact his dinner crowd. When we asked for bread, owner told us that bread was offered for lunch and was available for dinner ONLY - and that bread was an additional charge. Problem is i ordered off the dinner menu and paying additional would not have been a problem. This was the first time in decades where bottled water at a supposedly a fine dining restaurant is bottled water from Costco's. Since my meal was missing the Romesco sauce (which i was looking forward to), we will NOT be back. Again, WORST experience EVER!! read more

I ordered the Almond Crusted Sea Bass ($53) - small plate of food. Everything had a plastic after taste, like it was a prepackaged meal that was thawed out. The quinoa was hard and flavorless. My husband ordered the Ukrainian Stew ($43). That dish was better than the sea bass. Good flavor and better portioned but not a lot of food for the price. From the moment we entered this family owned restaurant I knew we were in for something special, and I was not disappointed. We tried the chicken sausage appetizer, and the Ukrainian meatballs to start with. Both were excellent and unique. We had the Ukrainian Filet and the Stew for our main courses, and both were amazing. The sear on my steak was perfect. The food was so good we had to try their homemade desserts, and the mango cheesecake was superb. I think the iced cream was also homemade, and quite delicious. We dined at Tatiana's as a party of four. We were seated on the first floor near the fireplace. The interior is warm & inviting. Tatiana was our server and she was informative, kind and very accommodating to our group. I love that it's an upscale restaurant but, as byob, we were able to bring wines of our choosing. My husband and I started with the Maryland blue crab & mushrooms. It was a generous portion of crab and the Asiago sauce was rich and flavorful. All dinners came with a bowl of soup, which was warm, earthy and comforting. I was going to order the salmon romesco from the regular menu, but Tatiana let me know about a special that evening that was similar. The special had rice instead of quinoa and an addition of crab cake and grilled shrimp. Naturally, I went for the one with more seafood and I'm glad I did. It had a lot of nice flavors--kind of a little middle eastern flavor hidden in there--and it was a great value. The crab cake was small and a little too salty. The shrimp was literally one grilled shrimp placed atop the salmon. Overall, still a solid dish and cooked well. I appreciated that she gave prices on each "special" so you knew what you were getting into pricewise. I got the Ukranian fruit iced tea and was pleasantly surprised by the delicate floral notes and bright fruit flavors. Both couples shared a dessert each and we all enjoyed our choices. The chef/owner, Ash, came to our table a few times and asked how we liked the dishes. It is always a treat to be able to bestow praise in-person to the chef. read more

Got in fairly late. No one was at front for a bit, but then waitress came out. Ordered borscht, crab and mushroom appetizer, and filet mignon bourguignon. I hadn't had borscht in a while, this was very good. The appetizer was good as well. The bourguignon came out right off the stove, it was hot and I let it cool down a little. My main entrée was a Ukrainian mixed meat stew (beef, chicken) in a braised gravy sauce. It was delicious. Finally, I ended the meal with marscipone lemon berry cheescake with light nut topping that was just fantastic. The place. Tatiana's is perfectly set in an old brick two story house. The decor is perfect. The tables are set comfortably. The rooms are nicely appointed. Even the bathrooms are comfortably elegant. I wish I had not been alone to enjoy my time at this wonderful eatery. The staff. The only thing that outshined the food and setting was the absolutely perfect staff. From the moment I arrived, the staff was attentive and kind. They seated me immediately at a perfect table for one. Before I had time to think about waiting, they brought me a custom iced tea. The waitress attended to me without hesitation. The soup and roll came out quick, and then the chef appeared to explain the menu and suggest choices. Came across Tatiana's when looking for a restaurant open on Christmas. Called to make sure they had openings and was pleasantly surprised that they had no problem squeezing us in. The staff were super friendly and quick to explain their dishes. The seating area is quiet and intimate. We went with the Ukrainian stroganoff which was full of 3 different types of meats (chicken, beef and sausage). The proportion size was just perfect. The meat was tender and flavorful. We also had the signature chicken which is absolutely delicious. The crab meat and shrimp played very well with the coconut crusted chicken. I wasn't sure what to expect from Mediterranean and Ukrainian. My food was beautiful to look at but it was confusing. The flavors just didn't go together and I wasn't sure if I was eating Mediterranean or Ukrainian. Also, my dish was heavy on protein and very light on vegetables. I missed the veggies. I would maybe try again and order something that is definitely one or the other as far as cuisines. It was a good portion for the money. I just wish I enjoyed it more.
