GEL SERVICE GONE WRONG. Service was good, until hours later. Very disappointed. Got gel done, I did bring in my own color, bottom and top coat brand new used once. They used my product on my fingers & toes. They used top and bottom coat of mine on my toes when using a different color and I was confused why they did that instead of their own. That wasn't the problem. Pricing didn't seem to add up when paying because I used my own product, really was just paying for service. That was all fine and no issue. Hours later, took a shower, got out and 5 fingers of polish fell off. This had to be a problem of prep. 5 FINGERS OF GEL FELL OFF, WITHIN 6 hours!!! My first time going to Aura. I believe my nail tech was Layla (at least that was the name on her equipment cart) and she was super nice and helpful. She was patient as I was trying to decide between two super similar colors, and when she brought the powder out, I said I wasn't super sure about it and she did a quick color test on a nail tip so I could see what it would look like which was really reassuring for me. I made my appointment online for dip, but since I was getting tips added, she recommended opting for acrylic instead so it'd look more natural/less bulky and I was convinced. She was quick but also detailed. I did notice the tiniest gap of color near my cuticles and some gaps on the side edge of my nails but honestly nothing super noticeable and if I cared enough I'd bring it up but I was fine with it. Went to this salon for the first time 6 weeks ago. It was clean and the folks seemed nice. We thought we would try it again, but after 4 days my nails started to crack. I went in to get two fixed and they did it for free. I got home and another one cracked. As someone who doesn't have time to keep going back and forth to a salon 3 x in one week, I waited until I had time to go back today and the lady wouldn't fix the nail for free and was wondering why I was upset that the service seemed to be crap!!! I travel the globe and get my nails done and have never had 4 nails crack in one week, clearly it was a bad base coat or top coat. After spending over $200 each time, will not be back and do not recommend it to others as the customer service is subpar. read more

I had previously stopped coming here after a bad experience with a nail tech who was rushing through my appointment so much that she was knocking things over, which other customers even noticed. I decided to give this salon another chance because it's close by and convenient, but unfortunately it backfired. I was there for 2 hours and 30 minutes for a basic manicure and pedicure. My nails were completely bare, no polish or shellac to remove, and only my toes had shellac. When I sat down it took 30 minutes just to get started, and they only began my pedicure. I politely asked if someone would be starting my manicure, and I was told it would be "about two minutes," but no one came until after my pedicure was close to being finished. I even saw someone who arrived after me get both services at the same time and leave before me. Overall, the wait time and lack of coordination were very frustrating. I've been coming to Aura for almost 2 years and i won't go anywhere else. Their service is un-matched and the staff here is so sweet and genuine. I get gel x and i always request Selina because she literally does my nails exactly like my inspo. She pays attention to the details and always will ask if i like certain things (shape, length, color) and if she's not available i've had other nail techs do my nails and everybody (except 1) did a perfectly good job as well. My pedicures are always great as well and they're very attentive (ask me about my drinks, details, polish etc.) Both front desk girls are super sweet when checking in & out! I went to Aura Nail salon recently and had a terrible experience that I want to share with others to hopefully prevent anyone else from wasting their money and having a bad experience here. I went here with my sister and we sat next to each other. We were both getting pedicures as well as manicures with builder gel. Immediately the 4 nail techs that were working on us were clearly talking about us. It was obvious they were talking badly about us and laughing, to the point that it made us very uncomfortable and it was extremely obvious. And look, I understand it's common for most of us to go to the salons and the nail techs will speak in their native language and that's fine but I can't be the only one who thinks it's rude to speak in a language around others when you know they don't understand what you're saying. If we are paying for a service, I'd rather my nail tech speak to me directly and try to have a nice conversation with me rather than only speaking to their coworkers in a language I can't understand and never trying to make conversation with me. Moving on, here is where I started to really get upset. The guy who did my builder gel manicure is named Beau. This guy was rude from the beginning. He was rushing the entire time and constantly looking around the salon and spent less time looking at my nails and focusing on what he was actually doing. I had to tell him several times the builder gel on my nails did not look right and he needed to fix it. He was putting huge blobs of builder gel on my nails and had I not said anything to him, he would have left it like that. Again, he was rushing, going so fast and just constantly looking around. He was extremely fidgety and about 15-20 minutes in I was very suspicious that he was under the influence of something. His behavior just did not seem normal. Any time I would ask him to fix the poor job he was doing on my nails, he would be frustrated. Again, he wasn't making conversation with me. Wasn't friendly. And certainly wasn't concerned about the quality of the job he was doing on my nails and definitely didn't care if I was having a good experience overall. All in all, I would avoid this salon, but I would avoid Beau doing your nails at all costs. Very unprofessional, disrespectful treatment by the 4 nail techs we had today, but Beau's behavior and whatever influence he was under was unacceptable. When I told the receptionist about my experience she gave me a 5% discount! 5% off on an over $110 bill, this was comical after the experience I'd just had. Going to the nail salon is supposed to feel relaxing and like treating yourself. Yet, this was the most stressful and uncomfortable nail salon experience I've had yet and I'll never give this salon another dime of my money. Aura Salon, do better. read more

Excited to try a new nail salon near garden Oaks, I came here in a positive mood - only to leave in the most disheartening and anxious state. From the snappy woman doing my refill to the uninterested tech doing my pedicure, it was super unpleasant. I got a midscale pedicure and the tech was not in the mood for a massage and she just awkwardly moved my legs around while looking around, coversating with other techs. Seems like they only ask a certain profile of customers for drinks as well. A minor but relevant detail. I asked for a moderate design and was initially turned down harshly. Obviously the staff is over worked or not being taken care of because no one's attitude seemed professional or gracious. For what our nails cost these days, I feel like basic etiquette and decent flow of conversation to confirm what the customer wants is the bare minimum. I am very disappointed with my recent visit. I paid $132 expecting a relaxing pedicure and manicure experience, but instead felt completely rushed. I actually came in after other women who were getting pedicures, yet I left before them -- meaning my service was cut short. The "shellac pedicure" I paid for did not feel like the full service at all. I only received a light rub and scrub, while I watched other clients around me get the full pedicure treatment that I thought I was paying for. It honestly felt like my service was done just to move me along quickly. On top of that, I mentioned to both nail techs that I didn't like my nail color. Instead of helping me fix it, I was told to either come back in two weeks, or if I came back the next day, I would have to pay full price again. For the cost of this visit, I expected better customer service and at least some willingness to make it right. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I do not feel like I got what I paid for. I needed a regular polish change so I called Aura since I was in the Heights and they were able to take me in. There was plenty of parking out front so I was able to get in with no issues. Check in was smooth and I grabbed a polish that I wanted. However, upon closer look, I noticed the polish was watered down with acetone, which means it'll chip quicker. Luckily I brought my own polish. She did my nails well, or so I thought but after I got in the car, I noticed bubbles in my nails. I was so pissed because I had another appointment AND I'm traveling so I can't even go back to have it fixed. I really liked how clean the salon was, the friendly staff and the overall ambiance but my nails are bumpy. read more

My pedicure started off great. I mentioned my ankle was sprained and she was so careful with it. It wasn't until my manicure began. She seemed very irritated since she started and was super rough trying to remove the shellac. I really should have spoken up to see if she was in a rush bc it felt that way. She ended up cutting me and I was just over it. She really didn't seem to worried until I started to bleed. So I decided not to paint my nails and be done after the manicure since the bleeding wouldn't stop. Which was not great at all. During check out I mentioned to the young lady that I just got the manicure and mentioned bc I was bleeding. She notified the manager and she gave me the " soooo what do you want me to do look" . I came in on a busy Sunday afternoon with no appointment and only had to wait about 10 minutes. I got a deluxe pedicure and shellac polish change. They have a huge selection of OPI polish, which in my opinion is the best brand. They have shellac to match the exact color of regular polish too... maybe the shellac brand is OPI also? I was offered a drink while waiting and offered another one during my services. The pedicure was very relaxing and well done. The polish change was done well also. They care only about making money and are very greedy. -They don't like people who speak up! -They don't care if you were in physical pain because your nails were over filed and buffed. - if sides are missing color, nail polish is peeling, dip is dark on one nail and light on another, they call this: picky -Their people are overworked and undervalued, this causes them to have unsanitary practices and mistakes. - I have seen jagged dirty nails, one of which I was stabbed by on the first visit by Jaden, and when I mentioned it to him he cut his nail in front of me. It landed on my tshirt and grossed me out. I asked for another tech, they don't like this. - I have seen a nail tech pick her nose and do a pedicure for a customer sitting next to me, the customer said nothing, they like this. - I wouldn't go back there if they paid me - they should be investigated for ethical, labor, and sanitary practices. I tried this place for the first time for a shellac manicure and was very excited as they have a fantastic selection of nail polish colors. However, my experience was downhill from the minute I sat down. The nail tech roughly filed off my previous gel polish down through to my actual nail as he clearly did not want to wait for the acetone to do its job and skipped that part altogether. It hurt so bad I had to tell him to stop at multiple points. Obviously afterward my nails were then too soft and I was forced to cut them super short as a short almond was out of the question. I even showed him how my nails could now be bent in half. (I was told this is because they are my natural nails. Well aware gel is not great for your nails but also well aware there is a correct way to take off the gel to avoid this). When I went to pay and told the front desk about my experience the response was "sorry about that. That'll be $45." Note to the salon: 1) teach your techs the proper way to remove old polish and 2) don't have your front desk ask how a customer's experience was if you don't plan on having anything to say or do in response. read more
