They used my product on my fingers & toes. They used top and bottom coat of mine on my toes when using a different color and I was confused why they did that instead of their own. Went to this salon for the first time 6 weeks ago. It was clean and the folks seemed nice. We thought we would try it again, but after 4 days my nails started to crack. My nails were completely bare, no polish or shellac to remove, and only my toes had shellac. When I sat down it took 30 minutes just to get started, and they only began my pedicure. I went to Aura Nail salon recently and had a terrible experience that I want to share with others to hopefully prevent anyone else from wasting their money and having a bad experience here. I went here with my sister and we sat next to each other. We were both getting pedicures as well as manicures with builder gel. It was obvious they were talking badly about us and laughing, to the point that it made us very uncomfortable and it was extremely obvious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And look, I understand it's common for most of us to go to the salons and the nail techs will speak in their native language and that's fine but I can't be the only one who thinks it's rude to speak in a language around others when you know they don't understand what you're saying. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If we are paying for a service, I'd rather my nail tech speak to me directly and try to have a nice conversation with me rather than only speaking to their coworkers in a language I can't understand and never trying to make conversation with me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Moving on, here is where I started to really get upset. The guy who did my builder gel manicure is named Beau. This guy was rude from the beginning. He was rushing the entire time and constantly looking around the salon and spent less time looking at my nails and focusing on what he was actually doing. I had to tell him several times the builder gel on my nails did not look right and he needed to fix it. He was putting huge blobs of builder gel on my nails and had I not said anything to him, he would have left it like that. Again, he was rushing, going so fast and just constantly looking around. He was extremely fidgety and about 15-20 minutes in I was very suspicious that he was under the influence of something. His behavior just did not seem normal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Any time I would ask him to fix the poor job he was doing on my nails, he would be frustrated. Again, he wasn't making conversation with me. Wasn't friendly. And certainly wasn't concerned about the quality of the job he was doing on my nails and definitely didn't care if I was having a good experience overall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All in all, I would avoid this salon, but I would avoid Beau doing your nails at all costs. Very unprofessional, disrespectful treatment by the 4 nail techs we had today, but Beau's behavior and whatever influence he was under was unacceptable. When I told the receptionist about my experience she gave me a 5% discount! 5% off on an over $110 bill, this was comical after the experience I'd just had. I am very disappointed with my recent visit. I paid $132 expecting a relaxing pedicure and manicure experience, but instead felt completely rushed. I actually came in after other women who were getting pedicures, yet I left before them -- meaning my service was cut short. The "shellac pedicure" I paid for did not feel like the full service at all. I only received a light rub and scrub, while I watched other clients around me get the full pedicure treatment that I thought I was paying for. I needed a regular polish change so I called Aura since I was in the Heights and they were able to take me in. There was plenty of parking out front so I was able to get in with no issues. Check in was smooth and I grabbed a polish that I wanted. However, upon closer look, I noticed the polish was watered down with acetone, which means it'll chip quicker. Luckily I brought my own polish. She did my nails well, or so I thought but after I got in the car, I noticed bubbles in my nails. I was so pissed because I had another appointment AND I'm traveling so I can't even go back to have it fixed. They have a huge selection of OPI polish, which in my opinion is the best brand. They have shellac to match the exact color of regular polish too... maybe the shellac brand is OPI also? It landed on my tshirt and grossed me out. I asked for another tech, they don't like this. - I have seen a nail tech pick her nose and do a pedicure for a customer sitting next to me, the customer said nothing, they like this. - I wouldn't go back there if they paid me - they should be investigated for ethical, labor, and sanitary practices. I tried this place for the first time for a shellac manicure and was very excited as they have a fantastic selection of nail polish colors. However, my experience was downhill from the minute I sat down. The nail tech roughly filed off my previous gel polish down through to my actual nail as he clearly did not want to wait for the acetone to do its job and skipped that part altogether. It hurt so bad I had to tell him to stop at multiple points. Obviously afterward my nails were then too soft and I was forced to cut them super short as a short almond was out of the question. I even showed him how my nails could now be bent in half. (I was told this is because they are my natural nails. Well aware gel is not great for your nails but also well aware there is a correct way to take off the gel to avoid this). [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I went to pay and told the front desk about my experience the response was "sorry about that. That'll be $45."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Note to the salon: 1) teach your techs the proper way to remove old polish and 2) don't have your front desk ask how a customer's experience was if you don't plan on having anything to say or do in response. read more
