I had the best customer service experience here! I bleached my son's hair at home and didn't get it light enough (it looked brassy). I had tried multiple places online and could not get anyone with time to fix it without an appointment. I called Aura and Jennifer answered the phone. She made me feel so welcome and she was so friendly. She told me to come in and Carol would help me! Carol did a fantastic job at getting my son a beautiful bright platinum and Jennifer took time to even out his hair cut! I'm new to the area so finding a new hairdresser can be a little scary. My review: had an an extreme emergency from a 'nightmare at sola salon' in the Sparks area. The hairdresser completely messed up her colors and made me a brunette instead of a blonde that I am. What! In the world!?? I was devastated and I called Aura salon the next morning for a consultation. I felt so fortunate.to get an appt. at 10:00 a.m. on such short notice. Robert examined my hair and said my hair was wayyy too ashy. Robert told me not to worry he knew exactly how to fix my hair and he was going to be careful and only do a 10 volume. So I would not further damage my hair. Robert worked his Magic!! In 90 minutes I was back to blonde! I can't thank Robert enough! He is an excellent hairdresser. I left or a salon feeling like a million bucks. Thank you Robert! And I must say even though I had a bad experience at a different salon at least it brought me to meet Robert!! I had to write this review and I hope if anybody reads this and is looking for a new hairdresser l please let me save you time from a bad cut or color right now and call Robert at Aura salon. Mo is the best!! She was able to shape and style my super short cut so I left with my head held high. Despite the cold weather, I wouldn't even put my beanie back on when I left. She is serious about Covid-protocol, which made me feel safe and secure in these troubling times. She also has the most beautiful energy which made me feel right at home in her chair. I will be returning even during Covid as all the stylist's stations are distanced and the entire space is clean. Plenty of parking and a pretty central location completely seals the deal. I have been getting my hair done at Aura for years. Jen does such an awesome job. I am lazy and only go every couple of months, and she does my hair so that it lasts that long without ever looking bad. My husband, on the other hand, is more high maintenance and goes every 7-10 days. At this point, my whole family gets our hair done here. My kids love that they always have snacks, and my son loves his head massage when they wash his hair. On the rare instance, in a pinch, when I've had to take my son to a neighborhood chain, he is always highly disappointed. He is an 11 year old hair salon "snob." My mom has Carol do her hair and it always looks so great. She says it's so hard to find someone who can cut her curly hair well, but Carol has it down! The whole staff is always so friendly. For the past 22 years (since moving to Reno), I have gone from stylist to stylist always asking for the same request "Can you please style and shape my hair and color to match me? my face??" Although each of the 6 I have had as stylists over the years, have said "Sure!" But my hair just got shorter with the same cut and not much of a color difference. They would ask me what I wanted for color, and I was always at a loss. All were excellent stylists and I loved them all. Then one day I met Robert and he said to me "Come see me. A new cut and a new color would do you wonders." SAY NO MORE. For anyone to say that to me with my hair pulled up in a clip I thought "Amen!! My (humble) prayers have been answered" Finally, someone who gets me! So I went to Robert and my whole persona has changed. Alana is the best aesthetician I've experienced when it comes to leg and bikini waxing! I've gone to other Aveda Salons in Reno like the Tangerine Salon at Summit and L'essence, and she outperforms the services I received at the other places BY FAR! A friend of mine who works at MAC in Meadowood Mall recommended her to me, and I decided to get my first Brazilian from her today because I heard such great things. Not only was it quick and barely hurt (she does it UBER quickly using only two strips of hard wax for each side), she's very experienced (worked for Aveda for over 5 years), is a diligent perfectionist (making sure to get every single stray and fine hair), and is a super sweet, funny, great conversationalist (which makes the time fly and puts you COMPLETELY at-ease even when you are totally spreading your legs at her like you're giving birth! I totally felt like I was chatting with a friend like normal LOL). She is also very knowledgable, and I trust that her other services will be just as excellent as her waxing. I'm excited to go back to her to get eye-lash extensions as she's advertising $125 for a full set right now. I already made my next appointment to get waxed again next month. I highly recommend Alana, and will probably make an appointment pretty soon for a facial as well (she got the "Best of Reno Magazine" 2011 for her facials)! read more
