I moved to Reno 10 years ago from San Francisco. Finally, last year I found Socialite Salon and I could not be any happier! I see Nikkie there and she does an absolutely wonderful job on my hair. She does an amazing job with my cut and highlights! She is also very reasonably priced. She listens to what you want to do and makes suggestions based on hair type (she's not going to give you a haircut that doesn't match your hair). She is also conservative with the cut, which I love because you are not going to walk out of the salon with any regrets. I had a really, really hard time finding a salon that would cut my thick, wavy hair, which I wear straight most of the time. Most salons in Reno wanted to thin my hair, or cut super short layers giving me that "mushroom" look. Not Nikkie! She cuts and styles my hair beautifully and also gives the most amazing head and neck massage when she washes my hair. Also, I've been to some salons here that charge what it costs to cut and color hair in San Francisco, and you just can't do that in Reno. The salon is always, always friendly, clean and very welcoming. I love the little Plaza it is in. It's very quaint and pretty. Not some dirty strip mall. There are many drinks there waiting for you as well. They serve coffee, hot cocoa and have a tea selection that rivals Starbucks! It is kid friendly too. I bring my two girls there to get their haircut with Nikkie and they keep asking when they can go back! She gives great kids haircuts and will even wash and blow dry their hair. joined yelp just to write this review. was very displeased with my service. being pretty new to the area I called to make an appointment a little while ago and was recommended to Heather by the receptionist. Nice enough girl, but with the prices and location of the salon I was expecting someone with a little more class and/or style. I was looking to go lighter and told her I wanted a heavy weave...she seemed alright with that, yet as she went into the back to mix my color I could clearly hear her talking negatively about me to another employee. Her chair is the very last one before the back so I have to assume she knows people 4 feet away can hear her incredibly loud whisper? When she returned I was uncomfortable knowing that she clearly didnt like me; nor did she have confidence in the job she was doing. During the service she asked many repetitive questions, I have to assume she wasn't listening to me. And unfortunately I wasnt pleased the day of the service even after having to ask something to be done after I was styled. My color was dull and pretty muddy. I called for a redo and was met with some animosity. I hate to write such a negative review but with this salon being in such a great space, I was really looking forward to a great time. The music was boring, the interior was overdecorated with unattractive fake flowers and my stylist was the very definition of "Reno", far from a socialite. read more

Socialite Salon in my opinion is the best salon in Reno. The owner and stylist there work very hard to provide a relaxing, professional aptmosphere. The salon has the appearance of being upscale, but the feeling of being laid back and friendly. I am always greeted at the door and offered a beverage (who doesnt enjoy a glass of wine while being pampered!) I enjoy all of the staff there, they are super sweet and most of them have been with Socialite since its start. I personally see Nikkie Jackson and I love everything she has ever done with my hair. Nikkie loves what she does for a living and it shows in her work. She never wants anyone to walk out with something they dont absoluely love, and she will do what she can to make it right. I have recomended her to several ladies I know, and she was able to make them feel like they were brought back to life. A great cut and color is so uplifting, and that is the experience I get everytime I see Nikkie. Her skills are great and she continually keeps herself educated on new trends and techniques. She knows my hair and she knows what works and I think she is the best! read more

I remember the days when I would stare longingly at the pages of my favorite magazines and think, "if only a stylist in Reno could make my hair look like that..." on the recommendation of a friend, I visited Socialite for the first time about three years ago and explained to Julie, the owner (whom I had never met), that I wanted "that thing where your roots are darker and it slowly fades into a natural, lighter color." She immediately said, "Ombre. You want the ombre?" I didn't even know it had a name (remember...this was three years ago). Julie gave me the best color/cut I've ever had and I didn't have to travel further than a few miles from my own home to get it. I've been a regular of Socialite Salon ever since and have had great experiences with Julie and Danielle. The salon is clean, the staff is friendly and professional and the work of the stylists is truly top notch, big city, modern and just plain great. I LOVE Socialite! I'll be honest, I go to Socialite because Honorine is there. She's taken care of me for years and is the absolute best! She's got great vision in the art of hair and gives her clients the royal treatment. She listens to her clients will also protect them if necessary. I know this sounds sort of silly, but it's true! I'd seen Honorine long enough for her to know that I adore my long locks. When I went in, and on a whim said, "Let's chop it all off! I'm bored!" She said, "Why don't we try this instead -insert awesome suggestion here-" I would have been so upset if I had cut it off that day. Letting go of your hair is a big decision, and she kept me from making a decision I'd regret. She's tasteful, fun, gives a great scalp massage, and is the queen of bangs! Seriously, I can't sing her praises enough! As for the salon itself? Great ambience and friendly staff. They have delicious coffee and tea, beautiful lighting, comfortable seating, and great hair products. I couldn't be more happy with my years of being at this salon! read more

Believe it: I drive from San Francisco to have my hair beautified at Socialite Salon in Reno by the talented, fun, and highly professional owner, Julie. The salon is spotless with a friendly staff. They provide reminder calls prior to appointments (always nice in our busy lives), run on-time (I've never had to wait), and offer water, coffee, or even an "adult beverage." I look forward to my hair appointments for the positive environment and the miracles Julie performs! Let's face it, our hair is our crown and some of us aren't blessed with gorgeous natural locks. I first came to Julie for a fix of the wash out color I put in at home that never washed out. She was my hero so I decided at her suggestion to get a bit more daring an go with extensions. I was self conscious about having 'fake' hair, but no one knew! The color and cut blended them perfectly into my own hair. I was even mistaken for a model while on a trip to Hawaii and again on a recent trip to NYC. It is amazing what long gorgeous hair does for a girl! :-) read more

If your looking for a great hair stylist Shannon is your girl! I have been going to Shannon for about 6 months and she is amazing! My hair has NEVER looked so good! I loved her work so much, I had her come down to San Diego for my wedding. My wedding was vintage theme and she was able to achieve the look not only on me but my three bridesmaids!!! Shannon also styles hair for our local basketball team dancers The Bighorns, and she recently did hair in a local fashion show. She also styles hair for our local news anchors. I know you wont be disappointed if you give her a try! I have recommended her to several of my friends and co-workers and they all keep coming back! Its probably the killer head message that really keeps them coming back!! My overall experience with the salon has been great! Everyone is friendly! I have been going to Holly there since I moved back into town. Having lived in a large city like Las Vegas, I've had multiple experiences with upscale salons; unfortunately, most were terrible. It was such a breath of fresh air to come to a high end, classy and most important PROFESSIONAL salon like Socialite. The people are very polite and FUN! Everyone says hello to you and makes you feel very comfortable. Their wait area, which usually is never long (the longest I've waited for my appt was 5 min and that's bc I was early)! While you wait, you can enjoy coffee, tea, water and also a glass of red or white wine. I like to schedule my appts on Mondays bc after a long day in the office, it's so nice to go get your hair done in a salon that is so comfortable and truly makes you feel pampered. Highly recommend it!!!! Also, I have longer hair and for what I have paid almost $200 for in Las Vegas, I pay half that here. Prices are great and quality of work is equal or better!!!! read more

Nikkie Jackson-Socialite Salon I have lived in Reno/Truckee area for most of my life. I found Nikkie at Socialite on a recommendation from a good friend after my hairstylist moved away from the area. I am so lucky to have found Nikkie. I look forward to my time at Socialite Salon, and getting my hair done by Nikkie. She is the most professional, sweetest hairstylist I have ever been to. She listens to what I would like done, and puts her own twist/know how to each session. I get a lot of fantastic compliments on my cut/color, and always feel amazing when I leave the salon. Socialite is a great salon, in general, and Nikkie is always on time, never rushed, and a great all around person. Socialite Salon is amazing. The atmosphere is completely professional, yet laid back, the staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the services are literally guaranteed to satisfy. I see Nikkie Jackson because she is very talented, professional, and when it comes to hair (cutting and coloring) she is an expert. She has been trained by Bumble and Bumble in New York and she always knows what would work well with my specific hair type. I have long blond hair, and she gives me the perfect color every time. She also gave me a great haircut for long hair, so I was able to keep my length and stay trendy. Nikkie is excellent and I would recommend her to anyone in the Reno area who is looking for a great haircut and/or color! I love love this salon! The atmosphere is so relaxing and it has great lighting. I've been coming here for about 6 months. I've tried other salons in the area and I've found that the energy at Socialite Salon is uplifting and wonderful. My stylist, Stephanie is really professional and friendly. She makes me feel comfortable and talks me through different styles I consider trying. Currently, she's working with me in my decision to go to my natural silver. For me, it was a scary thought but, Stephanie made the starting of the process less frightening. She carefully explained step by step the way she'll proceed in transitioning my hair away from coloring and ease into my natural color. I can't say enough about Stephanie and Socialite Salon. I have gone to Galy 3 times and I love her! She's such a sweetheart, and listens to everything I want and always achieves it! I'm a cosmetologist myself so it took me a while to find someone who I could trust with my hair, but she is beyond amazing! Her color skills are awesome and she's super great at cutting ...I must say I've never had a scalp massage as pleasant as the ones she gives, sooo relaxing! Socialite is a really pretty and relaxing salon, the location is great, near a ton of other shops and restaurants. It's definitely nice to be in a smaller, intimate salon and not a busy shop. Ive been going to socialite salon for years now. Their customer service and friendly faces make my visit enjoyable and memorable everytime I get my hair cut. My hairstylist who I see is named Nikkie Jackson. She has a very professional yet humorous attitude towards her work. You can tell by the way she presents herself that she is very proud in the work she does and a customer to her isn't just another client but a walking talking representative of the hard work she puts forth into her job. I have been going to Nikkie Jackson to get my hair cut and colored for almost 6 years or so. She is so great and knows me and my hair so well now. She is so nice and so great to talk to on our long appointments every 6 weeks. She's always got really great advice on what to do with my hair if I feel like a change. I highly recommend her!! She's a PRO!!! :) The salon itself is a nice little get away from my 2 year old, for just a couple hours. It changed since I first started going there, and I love it. I moved to Sparks in Oct 2011. I was desperate to find a stylist. After a few disappointing encounters, I went online. I found Socialite Salon. I loved that they showed pictures of the stylist and a short profile on them. I called and made an appt with Julie, the owner. I was telling a friend of mine about this and found out Julie was her hairstylist. I was thrilled. Julie is awesome and the salon is so cute and the staff so friendly. It is in a great location. After I moved to Reno 7 years ago, a former co-worker of mine recommended Socialite Salon to me. I started seeing Victoria and was very happy with all of my visits. After she moved away, I began seeing Honorine and have never left there unhappy. I am always greeted when I walk in the door and have been satisfied with every cut, color or style I have received. Honorine takes her time and talks with me and I never feel rushed to get out of her chair. She has even been very accommodating with squeezing me into her schedule. Julie has done both my hair and my hubbys and we both love her, she actually listens to what you want and is so cheerful while she is doing it.....I love a great conversation, so sitting in her chair is an absolute joy!!! This is an awesome salon, everyone is extremely nice and the experience is wonderful. Love the service and the great hair cuts. Great for me and my daughter, we love this place. We have not had any complaints with any of our visits, always have a great time. Danielle is amazing and really makes the hair experience great, always love every cut she does on both of us.
