Thanks to Lesley for finally giving me the layered look I have been trying to get for over a year. My hair is very thin and fine so it's either layers or a ponytail. Both of the stylists I tried last year did feathery wispy layers and I looked like I had not had a professional cut in years. It looked frizzy no matter what type of product I used. I have gone to hair lounge twice. The first experience was good Rachelle charged me 120 for blonde highlights and a haircut. Yesterday she charged me 170 and didn't even tell me the price went up until I went to pay. What I got was not at all What I asked for, but I really couldn't tell until I got home. She completely stripped the brown I had in my hair with making me completely blonde on the sides, but the brown and blonde are in the back,and cut my hair uneven !! I'm so upset..... Never have Rachelle touch your hair. I am calling tomorrow and talking to the manager about hopefully receiving a refund, because as you can clearly see I have to go to someone else to fix her mistake. I found Sarra on Yelp a few years ago and have never looked back! I always come in with ridiculous Pinterest balayage hair ideas and she delivers every time. She's super honest (in a nice way) and will tell me if these cuts or colors will make me look like a fool. She doesn't need a ton of direction and I always trust her judgment. She's also not awkward and easy to talk to, which frankly you need in a hairstylist because, hello, a work of art can take hours. Everyone else who works in the salon is very friendly and all the cuts and colors that go by always look great. The prices are so reasonable, especially for trendy Midtown. Plus there's tons of parking. What more could you want? read more

I moved to Reno/Sparks about a year and a half ago and since I have been searching high and low for a hair stylist who was great with Platinum blonde. I even went as far as going to South Shore and still had no luck, until, I saw a girl walking down my street with the hair I wanted. She told me that she sees Heather Phillips at the Hair Lounge. Heather is AMAZING! From the first time I talked to her I knew she was the one. She was confident and understood exactly what I wanted from the get go. For anyone who has bleached hair you will understand that it can easily turn out dry and damaged but my hair always comes out healthy and shiny with Heather. She really knows what she is doing and I would put my utmost trust in her with my hair. I don't usually let a stylist cut my hair on my first appointment but with Heather I didn't even second guess it and of course my cut turned out fabulous as well. I've gone to Lesley 3-4 times now and am always impressed with my hair. I've been getting a balayage from her and she does a great job, she takes her time to make sure it looks great once it's done. I didn't do anything too drastic to my cut but she gives me a trim and I'm always happy with the length. The very first time she did my hair I didn't love the color that it turned out, nothing she did wrong just lighter than I am used to/wanted, so she had me come back that same week and darkened it for me no problem! My normal hairstylist was unavailable, so I booked with Heather B. for a partial/highlights. She was able to book me last minute for a graduation I will be attending this weekend - this is huge as sometimes you need an emergency weave! My first impression of the salon was WOW that's a lot of parking! Second was how clean and modern it was. Super cool dark grey and white tones, modern clean furniture. NO hair blowing around on the floor or on the furniture. Very comfortable wash sinks. Great mellow vibe. Heather is super sweet and so easy to talk to and she did such an amazing job on my color, my friends are already asking for her number just from the pictures I sent them. Her partial was very generous and she had me in and out of there in perfect time...not too quick and not 3.5 hours later. What I was charged was very fair. Correct me if I'm wrong here, Yelpers, but the calling the service provider first before posting a bad review is not how review sites like Yelp work. They work by providing honest reviews of businesses and service providers so that consumers can make informed decisions about where they spend their money. Many smart service providers, when given a poor review, see that as an opportunity to become better businesses by resolving the issue -- not by personally attacking the customer providing the honest review. Second, if a service provider is unable to handle a certain level of workload due to ongoing health issues, I would advise that service provider to avoid taking on on new clients and then flaking on them consistently. read more

This review is for not only the staff at Hair Lounge but also my daughter's stylist Heather. I don't really have the words to express my happiness right now, typing with tears in my eyes, but I'm gonna try. My daughter is a beautiful transgender woman, and still a teenager, and as such, I am a fiercely protective mama bear when it comes to making her beauty appointments and other type appointments to make sure that my baby will be treated with the utmost respect and kindness, especially since I cannot be with her for these appointments because I am 8 hours away in Las Vegas. From the very first phone call to make her appointment I knew we were going to be ok. Complete reassurance on the phone that my daughter was very welcome there and would be treated very well. Her appointment was today, and not only was she thrilled with the outcome, she really appreciated the kindness and sweetness of Heather and the staff. Heather had some pressure on her because Prom is tomorrow and my wedding is in 2 weeks! But she held up under pressure and did great! Sarra has been doing my hair for years and she is the best! I have really thick hair, and it's a struggle to find someone who understands how to cut it the way I like. She also does a fantastic job at coloring my hair, and makes sure to really listen before beginning.
