I made a same day appointment for my dear friend Judith, visiting from Ghana in West Africa. She wanted to dye the roots of her already braided hair to match her current color. She brought some hair dye with her to the salon. "Junior" served us. He applied the dye just as Judith requested. We waited 45 minutes. Then Junior washed and rinsed her hair and gave her scalp a massage as she was leaning back in her chair. She was enthralled. Finally he towel dried her hair and applied oil to her scalp. Judith was very pleased. He had done exactly what she requested and done it well. Finally, as we went to pay, Junior followed us and said "no payment necessary. I wanted to try out that dye in any case." He insisted that we need not pay this time. He did a great job and he did it for free. We were both very touched and grateful. read more

The overall atmosphere is relaxing, comfortable, and roomy. The noise level is just fine. I have been coming to this location to get my hair cut and styled by Elie. He has always gotten a wonderful cut that is professional and fits me very well. His styling is also exactly what I want, neat and easy to maintain, although of course I can't really duplicate his wonderful style. With such a good cut though, it always looks very nice, even as it grows out. Just recently I was late for my appointment due to being blocked into my parking space at home and having to use public transit. However, staff was very kind, and Elie accommodated me by squeezing me in before his next appointment, and was able to give me the same excellent cut and styling despite the limited time he had. Staff was also understanding and did not charge me a late fee, which I appreciated very much. read more

We had a really poor experience. We called ahead knowing we'd be about 10 minutes late and even asked if we should reschedule. They assured us it was "no problem" and told us to come in. When we arrived, the location wasn't clearly marked, so we spent a few extra minutes trying to find it. At 10:11--just 11 minutes past our appointment time--we called again to find the location, only to be told they couldn't see us. What makes this even more frustrating is that despite booking over $185 in services, they had only allotted 30 minutes for our appointment. Why would a salon expect to deliver quality for that price in such a short time? For $185, you should expect time, care, and attention--not to be rushed through. There are many salons in Reston and Vienna that actually value both your time and your money. read more

This is a lovely salon, but I would not recommend getting a cut by Elie. I asked for a cut just below my collarbones (after having rather long hair) and i got something between a bob/lob which goes just past my chin. I'm devastated- and left the salon feeling so ugly. I thought we had agreed on a length and then he just kept cutting and before I knew it, my hair was inches shorter than I'd expected. I really wish there had been more communication on his end if he did not understand what I was looking for. The price of a cut here isn't cheap and I feel like I threw away a hundred dollars and look horrible. I'm so sad. read more

The salon has a really chic, modern feeling with great amenities. I've never sat in a more comfortable shampoo bowl/chair! You can order food right from your stylists station. The pizza was actually so good! Aldair did a perfect job with my hair cut. He listened to exactly what I wanted & made my vision come to life. I went back to see him for a keratin treatment & now my hair feels like silk! Ugh I couldn't be happier to have found this place!! I'll be back to see Aldair for my color in a couple of weeks. I had a great experience here. The booking process was super convenient on their website. I booked a haircut with Jason who took the time to trim my hair and dry cut it. My long layers look so much better now. He also used styling products effectively on my hair so I woke up this morning to fabulous hair that's still perfectly styled. The salon is located inside Vida Fitness in the brand new JW Marriott plaza. I like how bright, spacious, and modern the salon is. It's also pretty convenient that you can you order food/drinks from the bar and they'll bring it to your station. read more

Went for the first time to this beautiful brand new salon located in Vida Fitness and I was thrilled. The customer service was great at the desk, and Jason (my stylist) was a pro. We had a great conversation and made me look like a movie star by the end! He fixed my layers and gave my hair a modern look and feel. The salon is so new they are still putting the finishing touches on it, but the esthetic is so beautiful, classy and clean. I hope all the stylists are as good as Jason, because it's worth trying for the first time if you're looking for a great experience. Rated 1 star because 0 isn't an option. I don't think I have enough words to express how upset I am, and what a disappointment this place was, but I'll give it a shot. First and foremost, this place was difficult to find. Google maps takes you to a building that doesn't exist yet and there is no signage indicating where the salon is. I only found it because I went into the gym to ask for directions, and realized it's in there. Second, I had to wait 20 minutes past my appointment time, after arriving 15 minutes early. Normally not an issue, but for a place that wants you to be 10 minutes early and charges extra if you're late, you'd think they'd be more interested in being punctual. Third, and most importantly, THEY DID NOT CUT MY HAIR. Once I was actually able to get seen, Elie tells me to hang up my jacket, and once I show him what I wanted, he says "I don't know how to cut hair that way, and we close at five, so you can reschedule with someone else or go elsewhere." I wasn't asking for anything crazy - just a tomboy sort of cut. I just left. If they're willing to hire someone like Elie, I wouldn't want anyone else there to do the job anyway. Essentially I paid $5 in parking fees for nothing but wasted time. I'm disgusted, and would recommend going ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

Elie did a great job with my hair! It's been a while that a new stylist can get it perfect in just one visit. Elie took the time to blend my balayage and colors perfectly! I'm beyond happy with the color and cut. My wedding is in the next few months so it was critical I find the right stylist to bring my vision to life. Elie did it flawlessly! A few things to note on the location- it is NEW! Plan for plenty of time to park and maneuver the construction, find the parking garage and then use the elevator to get up stairs. The salon is nice, clean and has a great playlist too! Very relaxing space and experience. read more

Jason is fantastic! I found him through the Bang website earlier this year, i wanted an expert stylist, who knows his way around a pixie cut. I'm happy with my hair each time and at every stage between cuts. I am able to go 7 weeks before my next cut. I highly recommend Jason and bang salon. Booked a blow out for an event on Saturday. Got there a few minutes early, could see 3 stylists working but nobody acknowledged me. Eventually the receptionist showed and "checked me in". Shortly after the stylist approached me to say that she was running late and should have called me to let me know prior to my arrival. Ok, how long behind? 20 minutes. I decided to wait it out (and let my date know to pick me up a little later). Well, that 20 turned into 35 without update. I asked the receptionist to get a new estimate on start time and was told another 10 minutes. Nope. At the end of the day I understand that it's just hair but it's the disrespect of my time that is completely unprofessional. I chose to walk out at that point as I had to scramble to get back home and re-shower to do my hair. The only option I was given was by the receptionist who asked if I'd like to reschedule. The new Bang Salon in Reston is a beautiful state-of-the- art building offering a relaxing environment. The waiting area offers a simple and tasteful area to relax as well as a bar area offering beverages and snacks. The reception staff is pleasant and helpful, processing your check-in upon arrival. Jason Polascak, my hair dresser, consistently provides color services and hair cuts unparalleled to others. It is for this reason I travel 4+ hours for color and cuts. Having been a client for 20 years, I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. His technical expertise is well balanced with his social skills. It is apparent that he is passionate about what he does. My only problem with recommending Jason is that when people realize his talents, his Schedule once again will become very tight. However, that's a chance I'm willing to take as he more than deserves the recognition. read more

The attention and attitude of the employees is good (that's why this review is getting 2 starts), but the cut I received was one of the worst I have ever received. I explicitly told Elie that I did not want him to cut too much off the top, he completely ignored me and cut too much. It is not the first time this has happened to me so it did not affect me much but the way he cut the sides I can only describe as laziness, he put a razor blade between the comb and started cutting as if it were a machine, I would have preferred him to use a machine, the result was a disaster and he left me with a hole in my left ear which I did not notice until I washed my hair. In addition, he looked and acted as if he was in a hurry to attend some else, causing the mistake I mentioned first and a style that I wasn't looking for. read more

Bang's newest salon in a developing area of Reston is just what we needed! The salon itself is beautiful, modern, and chic. It sits within Vida Fitness and has its own parking garage to make it easily accessible. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Additionally, a fully stocked bar, snacks, and food are available to clients during their treatments (convenient since we're often there for hours at a time!). Jason, will undoubtedly give you the best haircut and color that you've EVER had! He is by far the most skilled and thorough professional that I have encountered (and believe me, I have tried MANY).
