This review is way overdue but when I first moved to this area (over 20 yrs ago), I had a hard time finding a good hairdresser. I have a lot of thick Asian hair which is not always the easiest to cut. The 1st hairdresser that could do my hair (at a different salon) wasn't the easiest to understand with her accent but I stuck with her since she did a good job. She has since moved to California but due to good reviews I found for Melodie at Miamore online, I have been going to her ever since for the past few years. Not only does Melodie do a great job cutting, coloring and styling my hair, she has the most pleasant personality and demeanor that makes me feel like I'm catching up with a dear friend. I cannot recommend her or this salon enough. They are sweet and actually very fast too. It's nice that I don't have to spend hours at the salon. I always know I have a great hairdresser when I fully trust their recommendations and know that they'll do a good job. The pic I've attached is actually taken two days past my appt. Post COVID I stepped back into a salon to get my hair done again. I had been going to this salon to see Yen for years and it was like coming home again. What a wonderful reunion. I didn't give Yen a lot to work with, I had a horrid toner on my hair and she needed to get my hair back from ground zero and try and do what I really wanted. She needed to add some depth to it and make it bright and healthy again. There were some technical things like a money piece and highlights, lowlights all with beige blonde and other tones that work with skin color. I called to make an appointment the day of, and was able to get an appointment no problem which was so convenient. The entire appointment including: hair washing, blow drying, and hair curling, took 1 hour flat, yet it did not feel rushed at all. The salon is nothing too fancy (located in a strip mall), but the chairs where you get your hair washed were so comfortable (unlike most places). Also the price was so reasonable ($50 for wash, cut, and dry). Most salons are charging up to $80 for a women's hair cut, god forbid you have "long hair." Additionally, some places charge extra for a blow dry which I find absurd, so I will definitely be coming here from now on! Furthermore, they except tips on credit cards... thank YOU. I hate having to carry cash for tips. It seems so minor, but it's such an inconvenience. Lastly, and most importantly, I loved my haircut. My stylist did a good job duplicating the hair cut I showed her instead of going rogue like some stylists tend to do. First visit to this salon! I found them by making a posting on the community group page. A few were recommended, but also due to COVID, this was one of the few places that did a blow dry (the others didn't even discount for not blow drying!) I was referred to see Melodie or Melanie. When I tried to make the reservation, I was told one is on maternity leave and the other has a waitlist. I was directed to Jen. I called when I got into the parking lot and all safety measures were taken. My mask got caught in the middle of her working, so she gave me a new one of theirs. Jen was great. We talked the entire time. I have an almost 2 year old and she has a 4 year old. We talked about our families, work, kids, everything. She was so easy and fun to talk to. She gave me all her recommendations after I gave her an idea of what I was looking for. She asked me if I wanted a hair cut and I said I just wanted it cleaned up. She even verified the amount before she did anything because some people get nervous when they see the hair on the floor. I appreciated it very much. This was the fastest color process that I've ever had. And I told her that. It took me 2 hours total for her to figure out my color, apply it, wash, and blow dry. Amazing. I was told that this was a "new policy" taking place. I was going to Miamore for a couple years straight, never missed any of MY appointments, never late, AND always tipped very well. I called to make an appointment, per the usual, I was told about this policy and I was so confused and shocked because of my loyalty to Miamore for years. I had a friend call the business and was shocked to find out that this "new policy" was only applied to my sister and I because they did not ask my friend for payment prior to her service. I've had Melodie and Lisa cut my hair. Loved talking with both of them. They are also great at taking minimal instruction (I never know what to do with my hair, I just want it cut and look nice). Lisa especially was great, a few weeks after having my first baby, I got someone to watch the baby for an hour while I went to go get a haircut. When I told Lisa I only had an hour, she efficiently cut my hair, I got a wash, cut and blow dry in 45 minutes and she did a great job. What a relief! read more

My fiancé and I originally went to Melodie for hair cuts when she was at a different salon and were SO excited when she opened Miamore with her family and have followed her there. Over the years Melodie has color-corrected a major box-dye hair mishap, given me a beautiful ombré, perfect highlights and an amazing hair cut each time. She is super personable and knowledgable and always knows what will look best for my hair-type and personal style. I've gotten several facials and each time my skin is GLOWING. Mia really takes the time to go over what she is doing in the process and is also extremely knowledgable regarding skin concerns, etc. The massage room and the facial/waxing room are clean, beautiful and totally relaxing. Mia recommended that I try eyelash extensions for my upcoming wedding and they are unbelievable! I would never have thought to do them but they are exactly the look I wanted and look so natural! I was delightfully impressed when I spent some time getting pampered and beautified today by the ladies there. The salon is very conveniently located right near the intersection of Rt 29 & Rt 28 in the Trader Joe's shopping center. I had never been to Miamore before, but due to the good reviews here on Yelp I decided to give 'em a shot. And, I've VERY happy I did! I treated myself to a Spa Pedicure and it was simply divine. Jennifer was simply perfect! Total luxury with the massaging spa chair and the variety of wonderful smelling creams and lotions she used to exfoliate, smooth and sooth my lower legs and feet. Warm towels and hot rocks and a massage finished things off. Then, my tootsies got a wonderful update in Royal Blue (see my pic!) and Jennifer really outdid herself. Such precision and care! I wasn't totally sure a blue would work with my skin tone, but, I'm very pleased with the result! In addition I got my eyebrows waxed...again, done by Jennifer. I've got tiny, short eyebrows so making sure to get just enough off....but not too much!...can be a real challenge. Jennifer did an awesome job! I've got shape and definition back! Yay!! Finally, I got a hair cut. Or, more accurately, I got a real make-over! Melodie was FANTASTIC!!! I'd brought in some pictures of cuts I *thought* might work, but I also cautioned that I've got some funky challenges with my thick hair, a spot that had been cut too short in the past and one side of my head has less hair than the other. She listened attentively to everything I had to share and took a good solid 5 minutes to really get a plan in her head. Once she started cutting she was very careful and made specific, calculated cuts. She really paid attention to my "challenge spots" and I am thrilled with the results!! I left smiling from ear-to-ear! Melodie tailored the cut just perfectly to my face and my hair textures. I think the best part of the whole experience were the personalities of the ladies there at Miamore. Melodie is extremely personable and warm. She made me feel right at home and comfortable. Jennifer had the perfect balance of familiarity (she gave me a huge smile and a hug when I was leaving) and pampering. Some salons seem to almost have a "snooty" feel to them, but not Miamore. They've got great style, but they aren't snobby about it. I really appreciate that warmth and welcoming aspect of their customer service. For something as personal as a hair cut (because you'll have this 24/7 for the foreseeable future!) or work on one's face, etc., I think it's really important that clients feel pampered, cared-for and valued. The atmosphere is super chic and sheik. It has an upscale feel to it aa the decor is tastefully done. The shop plays a decent volumed techno music playing and the modern day furniture makes me feel like I'm in salon in DC and not in a shopping center next to a grocery store. The staff is uber friendly! I immediately felt comfortable as the receptionist greeted me. Lisa cut, highlighted and styled my hair. I have to say I was impressed and would consider returning back! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did what she could to explain to me what the risks were. I wanted blond highlights and I had a red brownish color at the ends of my hair (it's been a while for color). My only complaint is that she didn't seem to confident when the color came out. As I was getting shampooed she kept checking and reassuring me. I wasn't worried just yet but she was getting me there. I prefer more blond than not so if it was blonder than expected, I'd be ok with it. At the end, it came out a little different and more darker than I anticipated but it's cute and the styled it with these uber cute curls that brought out the highlights. The only reason for 4 stars is the price. It costed $180 + tip which was way more than I expected. Especially since their website quotes a different price. I wish she would have told me it would have been more than the base price. Although the hair is great, the cut is cute and staff was friendly, it comes down to whether I'm willing to pay $200+ every six weeks for this maintenance. And the answer is no. I wouldn't consider it especially since there are other salons whose styles suit me better for a much cheaper cost. read more

Today was my second visit and I'm going to definitely make it my go to place for gel manicures. First the entire staff is friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. They provide other services such as hair, eyelash extensions, pedicures, etc. I've had both Jenn (first visit) and Soheila (today's visit) taking care of me and left feeling 100% happy! They take their time and make sure your nails are exactly how you want them as far as shape, color and design. One of the best parts for me is that they do not do acrylic which means no smells and no use of the dreaded electric filer. The first manicure I got lasted a full two weeks (actually a little more because I tend to push mine for as long as possible). Both visits I brought my daughter for a polish which was done by Melani, who is also wonderful! She makes her feel special and helps her create fun and pretty nails. I went to this shop mainly for nail care. Monica makes me feel comfortable, provides gentle service, and always designs the way I want it to be. This time my daughter wanted her hair cut , so she was served by Melody. Melody is so unbelievable she talks to my daughter a lot and makes her laugh the whole time she cut her hair. It was an ok salon. Not very clean. As I was waiting for the hair dresser a bunch of hair was sticking to my shoe. That was gross. The hair dresser was very friendly and did an ok job on my hair. The color is great but she cut my hair way too short. I asked for a trim and mentioned that I needed 2 inches cut. She ended up cutting 6 or more inches off. I was so disappointed but there was nothing I could do. The damage was done. I paid and left. My husband even noticed how short it was when I got home. It took me a long time to grow my hair that long. The hair dresser even said it looked about 30 inches. Now I have to start over and hope it grows back fast. I feel so disappointed. I went to melodie and got a great haircut. I have very thick and frizzy hair so ultimately anyone who can cut my hair so it is manageable and easy to style is amazing. She listened to me, which can surprisingly be hard for some hair stylists to follow(!), and I was looking forward to coming back. Granted, the cut and style was expensive (55) considering I just got ~1 inch off. The place itself is small, and could use more seating area. The actual styling chairs are also very close to each other. Now, the staff (who ever takes appointments) leaves a lot left to be desired and is why this review is low. When I have scheduled appointments before, I always confirm the date and time before I hang up. I know at salons with all the sounds and activity, it can get hectic. I usually speak with a lady who has a slight korean accent. No problem. My mom speaks korean and can get the appointment made for me. This one incident however, I spoke English with her and I scheduled another appointment on a Friday at 12:30. I come early on that Friday, and it takes a minute or two until i'm greeted by a young man who asks me what i need. I tell the young man my appointment time and who it's with, and he flips through the book and says i'm not on the schedule. He stares at me while I explain I had an appointment scheduled for today. I ask if there was any openings within the next hour since I had taken time off from work to get my haircut. He told me no Sorry. Another lady walks over and assists and it is determined that my appointment is scheduled for Saturday not Friday. They then said "You came on the wrong day." I left, flustered and embarrassed that this happened. The way it was handled by this man was not the way I thought a good business should! he didn't offer any solutions and I was told it was my fault. I did take time out of my day for the appointment, which I made for a Friday. Now, I don't know where the disconnect was, but I do not schedule appointments on saturday's because the weekends are busier. I called back later that day to see if I could speak with the owner and tell her what had happened. She was busy. I told whomever I was on the phone with to relay the message that I was cancelling my appointment because of the rudeness of her staff. As a suggestion, PLEASE train your staff. Welcoming people into your place of business is very important. They are the first face customers see. Being able to solve problems quickly (I was standing there in the front of the salon like a fool for 20 min) and actually offering solutions, is needed. Also consider creating an online scheduling system. It will stop any scheduling issues like the one I had. I'm sorry to say I won't be back. Hope everyone else has better treatment. read more
