Peter is the best masseuse I've truly ever had. His techniques -- pressure points, breath work, and ending visualization -- relaxed my body and stilled my mind. He creates an open dialogue by checking in about pressure and temperature. He eased my tight traps/shoulders without any pain, and achieved my ideal massage mixing therapeutic with intentional relief. He also works at the City Vida location! Upon check-in, you're welcomed to sit in really comfortable chairs and enjoy some hot tea. The downstairs treatment area has a hallway lined with brick and cozy decor that add to the upscale atmosphere. After the massage I went up to the locker room in my plush robe and enjoyed the sauna. In terms of price, I'm a Vida member so I get 15% off, but the cost is very similar to other massage spots in DC. I got a 75 min massage which is $155 before my discount, and the 60 min one is $135. They sometimes run specials for Vida members depending on the month, like free hydrating hand treatments, so definitely inquire. read more

I ended up at this location after the location nearby was going through some staffing changes and I was unable to get an appointment easily for the days that I would be in town. So really a stumbled upon going to this location based on necessity and not convenience. Lucky for me, I booked with Karen who ended up being the the absolute loveliest! She is kind, bubbly, professional and does such a great job waxing - she's quick, I experience minimal pain and I've haven't had any issues with ingrowns since going to her, so she checks all of the boxes for me. I booked an appointment with Meghan six weeks out. Less than an hour before my appointment, I got a call asking to push my time back by an hour and a half because the prior client's "services changed." When I explained I had a conflict at the new time, she asked to move me to a different day. This would be the second appointment in a row with Meghan that ended up getting moved days. Meghan's behavior was completely unprofessional - if a client wants to change their service at the last minute and it would impact other clients that day, you tell them no! Rebook the person causing the issue! The haircut prices here are comparable enough to higher end salons with better customer service. Save the headaches and just go to one of those. read more

Worst experience with a stylist I've ever had. Scheduled the appointment to get touch ups on my dyed purple hair, was quoted online for $180ish. When I got to my appointment, Frank decided it would actually cost almost $300. He also talked down to me as if I've never had my hair dyed and insisted I don't understand how pricing works. I walked out before we even started. For context, I have medium men's hair and only needed the roots touched up. I've been dying my hair on and off for seven years and I've never had to pay more than $170 for touchups + haircut. Don't go here unless you like being price gouged. read more

Katherine cut my hair and while she is a lovely person to chat with, unfortunately the cut was not as I specified (took a ton off the top, textured it for some inexplicable reason, did the fade with a grip on the buzzer I've never seen ever before that showed she was unfamiliar with the style, made no effort to do a line part on the side, rounded the hair). I showed her photos of my cut from my previous barber and it looks nothing like it. Unfortunately, despite having visited other barbers on the fly when visiting other cities, this was the worst cut I have had in at least two years. I got the impression that she is unfamiliar with fades/men's hair--totally get that people may just be starting out, but I wish I wasn't a guinea pig. read more

I got the worst haircut of my life at Bang Salon last week. I cried after seeing what I looked like. The stylist, Agus, completely disregarded everything that I asked for and that we agreed upon at the start of the appointment. My hair is several inches shorter than I asked for, I have horrible ugly choppy layers (I asked for one length), and I asked for face framing (pointed to where I wanted the hair to hit on my cheek at the beginning and he said "ok") and I have absolutely no face framing - in fact, my hair is the longest in the front. Besides feeling absolutely horrible about how I look (because it is a truly terrible haircut), it is hurtful and demeaning to have all of my wishes about my own hair completely ignored. Please do not get your haircut here. Edit: a manager called to apologize. She was very apologetic, gave me a refund, and offered to fix my cut on the house (I have not taken her up on this offer). read more

I've been going to Paige for three years and can't say enough good things! I have super thick and long hair and my haircuts can sometimes turn out looking VERY different the next day/next time I wash my hair. However, I can always rely on Paige to make sure my haircut looks good, both air-dried or styled. She's super knowledgable and intuitively knows exactly what I want to get done, without me having to explain a ton/use super technical language (she also gives a great head massage). I recently moved away and just timed my haircut to be when I was in DC, because at this point I don't want anyone else cutting my hair. Bang Salon's prices are based on the level of expertise their stylists have, but at this point most of their stylists are "Master" level, so it's no longer really a budget option--but prices are pretty typical for DC. If you have long or thick hair you need to book the more expensive "haircut with extra time" otherwise you can't get a blowout at the end of your appointment. Tipping is on venmo. read more

Just left after my 5th haircut (I think?) with Elsa. She has such a fun and spirited personality and makes the whole experience from start to finish enjoyable. I have thin, fine hair and most stylists don't really take the time to listen to how I envision my hair to look as a result, but Elsa has always been extremely receptive during the consult and incorporates my wishes with her knowledge of care and styling for thin hair. My cuts grow out beautifully in between appointments and still look good beyond just the next day. Last time I had my hair shampooed by Monserrat and it felt like being at my grandma's house again. She was kind and thorough and nearly put me to sleep with the head massage. Reception staff is helpful with future bookings and always professional about the COVID precautions. The facility is clean and well kept. I was hesitant to come here the first time after reading some mixed reviews, but I'm so glad I tried Bang and have continued coming here!
