JEN IS AMAZING!!! I cannot say enough about how great she is! I booked an appointment for a cut and color with her after going into deep, deep research mode after searching for a new stylist. I was in a particular hurry because I was proposing to my girlfriend that next week and needed my hair to look amazing (no pressure, right??) Jen took the challenge in stride and made me look amazing for the proposal and for the engagement photo shoot a week later. She listened to exactly what I wanted and gave me exactly that-- a beautiful bob with bangs and a striking bleached streak. Needless to say, I've been going back to Jen ever since and could not be happier to be a repeat client of hers!

    Curtain bangs and trim

I absolutely adore Jen! She did a fabulous job giving me some super cute curtain bangs and trimmed me up really good. I don't know why so many people have given her a bad rating! She has a strong personality, in a really good way! Maybe people just don't give grace or know how to interact with stylists.. I really don't know, but she is experienced and KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING. I wanted shorter bangs and she knew exactly what length to make them to have them fit my face. Advising, taking control, and giving me the exact look I wanted.. what else could you ask for?! They offered me water and took my coat, too :) very nice hi

Enders did an AMAZING job on my balayage and haircut! I came here after booking only one session for my wedding look, which was risky since he had no idea what he getting himself into (I foolishly thought it would be fine in one go!) Enders reassured me and said he would have me looking fabulous and made sure I got what I wanted. I did. I absolutely LOVED my cut/color. I asked for something more natural and for my cut to be texturized and shaped up. Enders made sure my balayage blended beautifully with my old highlights. He also cut and styled my thick, long hair so that it didn't feel like a million pounds on my head. He even took care to mention the amount of shampoos it would take to lighten my hair so that it would be perfect on my wedding day. I honestly felt like he treated my hair like a delicate canvas! I will absolutely be back and I highly recommend this salon. It was extremely clean and professional. Everyone was courteous and the service is outstanding. In my opinion, the prices are reasonable. The other hair stylists also seemed extremely friendly and knowledgeable. If you can squeeze an appointment time in (they book up fast), do not sleep on this salon. BEST IN DC!

Hi!!! I had Jen today and she freaking killed it! I really came in with what I knew was complicated and probably pretty picky. I also had booked the wrong appointment style and she was so kind and understanding about it. I showed her photos and told her what I needed and she DELIVERED! I'm usually pretty shy and not too much of a talker at salons but Jen still made me feel so welcomed and was just overall awesome. 11/10 would recommend her and the studio! I would have better photos but I had to hurry over to work so this is all I got! But the cut and color was perfect

You pay so much for mediocrity living in DC. Until I found the Burrow, this was especially true of hair salons. I booked an appointment at Immortal Beloved for my first haircut moving back to DC and it was a lackluster experience. The salon was so loud, I could barely hear what the stylist said and she was too distracted most of the time to listen to my responses. It's bad enough the salon has a pretentious name but couple that with mindless customer service, and it's just unacceptable. For my next cut, I tried Tigi Salon, which was a disaster. The stylist I was given kept asking me for guidance, making me wonder how was she able to become a professional. I got a cut that laid strangely, was uneven, and had weird clumps jutting out. It was the worst haircut I've ever received. So I avoided getting my hair cut for months. But this week, I got sick of the shapelessness. I couldn't stand looking at my hair anymore. I chose the Burrow based on its Yelp reviews and crossed myself before arriving. Enders, to my delight, is a pro. He immediately saw what mistakes were made in my last cut, laid out his idea as to what he wanted to do to fix them, and took the time to listen to what I liked and didn't like. He perfectly executed a fade for the bottom and a textured bob on top. The result is a beautiful, sleek undercut toeing the line between professional and punk. I came away not only relieved, but deeply impressed. If I stay put in DC (a big if), the Burrow is my new salon and Enders is my guy. He knows what he's doing and does not disappoint.

Enders has cut my hair (and about 12 of my friends) for the past 3 years so when I heard he was opening a new salon in Shaw, I was thrilled. Booking online is easy and their hours make it easy to pop in after work or on the weekend. The salon is gorgeous and all of the staff were personable and professional. You'll be offered water, coffee or champagne while waiting. Best of all- you'll get an incredible haircut for a very reasonable price, especially in DC. I haven't personally had any coloring done, but a few friends have and I can vouch for how natural and beautiful their hair has looked. Of note- bring cash for tip!

I also understand why my appointment needed to be rescheduled. My issue is not with the policy, it's with how I was treated. I was made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment I walked into the salon. I had a 12:45 p.m. appointment and called before leaving home to let the salon know I was running about 10 minutes late, which is their stated grace period. The receptionist told me she would let Sera know. At 12:56 p.m., when I was literally one minute away from the salon, I received a call saying Sera could no longer see me because I was late, and she had back-to-back clients. While I was disappointed, I understood. I asked if I could still come in briefly to speak with Sera because I wasn't even sure I needed a full highlight service, and the receptionist agreed. When I arrived, Sera immediately told me I needed to reschedule and seemed unwilling to discuss my hair beyond commenting that the back was "really dark" and explaining that she had returning clients scheduled after me. She didn't seem to know or care that I was a returning client. Sera had done my hair in February, and I came back because I had really liked her work. Not recognizing me in and of itself is not a big problem--I know a lot of people sit in her chair--but it made the interaction feel impersonal and left me wondering if she'd even prepared for my appointment. I was fully prepared to work with Sera and the receptionist to find another date and time that fit both of our schedules. Instead, both were unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. This experience was especially difficult because I have pretty severe alopecia areata that, thankfully, is now well controlled with medication, allowing me to grow most of my hair back. That said, I wore a wig for five years after losing most of my hair, so finding a stylist I trust is still an incredibly vulnerable and anxiety-producing experience. Every time I see someone new, I have to explain my hair loss and why I prefer a lived-in color that doesn't require overly frequent trips to the salon. I chose to return to Sera because I thought I had found someone I could continue seeing. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and genuinely upset. I walked out of the salon, called my husband, and cried like a reprimanded little girl. I am a 35-year-old grown-ass woman. Policies are important, and I respect them. Kindness and professionalism are just as important. Had the situation been handled with empathy and respect, I would have happily rescheduled. Instead, I left feeling less like a person and more like a time slot or a dollar sign. It seems like Sera may have enough clients that turning one away isn't a big deal, but I was respectful, cooperative, and ready to work with her to find another appointment. I deserved that same courtesy and respect in return.

Over the past five years, I have regularly visited Japanese hair salons in Los Angeles, New York City, and Boston while traveling frequently. In those experiences, even when a haircut did not fully match my preferred style or length, the technical quality was consistently strong, and any adjustments were handled professionally. Unfortunately, this experience was very different. One of the defining characteristics of a Japanese haircut is the smoothness, softness, precision, and careful organization of the layers. In my case, the cut lacked those qualities and appeared uneven and poorly structured (the photo from the back). I was also disappointed by the salon's management. Based on my experience, the overall operation and quality control did not reflect the standards typically associated with Japanese salons. Update (May 2026): Over the past 4 years, I have been with my Japanese hair stylist in New York. I returned to the salon to see Keiko because I was hoping to find a long-term stylist in Washington, DC. I had not had my haircut for 7 months prior to that because I delivered a baby in December 2025. Ozuki appeared to be one of the few salons in the area offering Japanese hairstylists. Immediately after the appointment, the haircut looked good due to the styling and blow-dry. However, within a few days, the shape became difficult to manage and appeared increasingly unstructured. The photo on my ID, taken approximately three weeks after the haircut, reflects how the cut settled over time. In contrast, the Japanese haircuts I have received elsewhere typically maintain their shape and balance for several months. Despite my concerns, I scheduled another appointment six weeks after the first haircut with Keiko because I genuinely hoped the issues could be corrected and that I could establish a relationship with a local stylist. At the same time, I let the management know that my haircut had bad form and hope that it can be resolved at the second appointment. Unfortunately, my interactions with management, Liz, were once again disappointing. Rather than addressing the concerns constructively, the response left me with little confidence that the salon could deliver the level of quality I was seeking. This is the first Japanese salon where I have repeatedly had unsatisfactory experiences. Based on the consistency of those experiences, I am not convinced that the salon operates at the standard typically associated with Japanese hairstyling.
