She told me that they were busy and that the guy was on vacation and would get a bid to me when he got back in early August. It's now late August and I haven't heard a peep. I understand being busy, but the response to a customer you turn out not to have time for is not "you can **** yourself and wait till whenever", it's "Hi, I'm very sorry, we don't have time to get this done in any reasonable timeframe, but here's someone else I recommend and he's expecting your call. Sorry to have inconvenienced you." Yep. Not a fan.

Four days later I get a voicemail from his guy saying he thought he'd make it but hadn't, they gave him the wrong house number. The *next* day I leave my house for work and see a contractor's ladder in the yard, but no contractor, and think "okay, finally -- I'll get home from work and it'll be done." Nope. And the ladder was there the next day, too. I went out to have a look and found he had PADLOCKED IT TO MY FENCE. And blocked the gate. And somehow tossed my yard waste in my neighbor's yard. I called him back and told him he had four hours to come and retrieve his ladder before I called the police. A few minutes later I get a call asking me -- uh, can he leave it there till Monday? NO. The answer is no. Just no. And no, I did not want to hear his lies about the "several voicemails" he'd left me, either. I told him to come get his ladder if he wanted to keep it. I also called Dudley Bros and told them under no circumstances were they to try finishing that job, because I did not trust that they'd do any kind of competent job at anything. Unbelievable. Avoid these people. Again, I'm sure Lorin means well, nice fellow in person, but a nice person in business also tells you if he's booked up and can't get a job done, and refers you to someone else. He doesn't pretend he can get the job done, keep you waiting months, and then send someone like this guy to half-do the job, late again anyway, and leave a mess. Bleh.
