Go for the music or go for the food, just don't go for both. We got tickets to see a band I like and made reservations for dinner. I made a note on the online reservation asking for a table with a decent view of the stage. When we arrived we found out that the dining area and the music venue are separate with no reservations taken in the music venue. We weren't terribly pleased with the remaining table selection. After nearly a half hour waiting to be at least acknowledged we finally got a drink order and menus. Too much time passed before she returned to take our dinner order. Again, after too much time the manager comes out to tell us they're out of Shrimp and Grits. Really??!? Shouldn't the kitchen manager have notified the waitstaff of these things. We were kind of pissed off by the lack of management skills by this time and decided not to eat. Now for the drinks. My partner has a finely honed palate when it comes to vodka and when her requested Grey Goose tonic came her face wrinkled and she said "That's not Grey Goose". Even I could tell it was well brand vodka. I asked for a beer and tomato juice. I got a bottle and small glass of tomato juice, no pounder glass to mix it in. I can't blame the waitress, the management left her grossly understaffed. If I owned the joint I'd fire the management. On the plus side the acoustics of the listening room are decent and they book quality acts. *IF* I ever go back I'll make sure to eat somewhere else on the way. read more

I recently went here because I saw the sign for all you can eat spaghetti on Mondays For $12. The place is clean and very open with lots of room and they have a 9 foot television screen where the bar is on the lower level. This used to be the former Debbies drift on in and a casino in the lower level. I had not been to this place since it was Debbie's drift on in years ago. The new owner has really fixed this place up. Although, it doesn't exactly have a homey, warm feeling to it and large parts of it seemed to be sectioned off and closed or they are doing remodeling or construction work to it, at least seemingly. So I would give the building and facility itself and the friendliness of the staff 4 stars! However, When I ordered the spaghetti, they told me that it is just plain spaghetti with tomato sauce and no meat sauce. If I wanted meat, then I had to order 2 sausage meatballs at $2 each to go with it. Also, the bread and salad only came with the first helping. So that was kind of a bummer and disappointment for me as I wanted to go all out on some great spaghetti that had meat sauce but I also wanted some salad and breadsticks other than on the first helping. Their happy hour food prices were not a great deal either compared to other establishments like Applebees or other nearby bars. It is for this reason that I'm giving it less than 2 stars overall. I have a happy hour at my own business where I make sure people get a great deal, so much so that they come back again during Happy Hours. Unfortunately, the spaghetti dinner and Happy Hour food prices didn't measure up to that standard. Sorry Aurora Borealis! Lower your prices a little to be more competitive with others and you will have twice as many people in your establishment buying drinks and keeping your wait and kitchen staff busy. read more

I decided to check this place out since one of my favorite cover bands was playing there tonight. My mom and I were looking forward to a fun night out and were excited to finally go here. What a bad idea, it was a total mess!! This was one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time. It is beyond over crowded, there are no places to sit and we couldn't even order food. The wait staff was clueless and didn't provide any service at all, and the bartenders were extremely slow. I haven't seen so many drunks in an event venue like this in my entire life. One woman was so drunk she fell down on the dance stage area and tried to hang onto me and pull me down with her. Extremely disappointing and a terrible night. The owner really needs to wake up and learn how to run a venue because this place is a total train wreck. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, yikes! read more

I love the food--breakfast, blue cheese burger, calamari...and the entertainment has been fun, however they need more seasoned servers and the drinks need to be served with class in GLASS. I ended up here because it is located across the street from Mann's welding where I had an appointment to put a tow package on my car this morning. When I walked in Borealis I couldn't believe the beautiful renovation job they did during the last year, it looks amazing! I had the regular breakfast eggs over easy split bacon and sausage with hashbrowns and English muffins. I give the breakfast and my server Jalen five stars as well, the eggs were perfect, the bacon was a thick and high-quality cooked perfectly as were my sausage hashbrowns and English muffins. What else can I tell you, it was a great morning and dining experience and I will be back soon! Went to this place for the first time and I honesty was not impressed. The dining area is super nice, but the service was not great. The waitress took quite a while to bring drinks, forgot many things from our order, over charged us for items, etc. I ordered a shot of vodka and I swear it was watered down because it did not taste like much of anything. I had been here once before for breakfast. They had a omelet special for 5.99. Being the budget minded person, I chose this option. Great vegetable omelet, with lot of tomatoes, onions and peppers. Got the grits too, not often you see this on a menu. They were creamy and good. Exceptional mimosa. They have some of the best fresh tasting orange juice ever. Today went in for lunch. Again, they are running a special. 5.99 for a hamburger. And again I sub-come to the cheapskate in me and order a burger. But first, I order the soup. It is beef stew and really good. A very slight cinnamon spicing, which was delicious. My only complaint would be it was warm, not hot like I like it. Ordered the bbq burger and a side Cesar salad. The salad was huge, I could have just eaten that and been full. The bbq burger is huge, with fried egg, onion rings , cheese, bacon and tomato. Really good, with some great flavor combinations. Overall, a lot of food for what I paid and it was good too. The restaurant was not very busy and had a sports game on for us to watch. Nice service from my server. I think the food quality is good and they seem to really try to please their customers. Would come here again, for a simple meal. read more

I needed to find a place for brunch between Seattle and Mukilteo, and Aurora Borealis seemed a good option. And so glad I came! The food was really tasty brunch fare, and they made alterations we requested. It was definitely one of the best unpretentious brunch places I've been to in the area in a while. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and I can't wait to check out a show in the downstairs club. And a call out to our server Jaden. Here are my concerns and complaints that were very valid. 1.Drink (Coke and Diet Coke )machine not working since they open 6 months ago? You should call another vendor 2. Bathrooms were lack of cleanliness 3. Chicken dinner came out crispy on top and raw in middle. The manager came over he was very cold and not very hospitable or accommodating he didn't really clarify what he would or would not take out the bill he just kept saying we're sorry that you're disappointed will take the chicken off . To me he was not meant to be a manager! RYAN needs to be trained on customer service. 4. They replace the Chicken dinner with the fish dinner Which truly came out very oily! But after looking at the chicken dinner we lost her appetite. 5. One of the waitresses was putting coffee cups underneath the cabinet in the coffee cup fell on the floor and she just picked it up and put it back in the cabinet which is not good practice.Always put it in the dirty tub or sink NOT BACK in the cabinet 6. Waitress we had was nervous and overwhelmed with no no relief. She stay on top of tables as best as she could, but she was only serving our table and another at the time. Restaurant was pretty empty when we got there for the start of dinner. 7. High turnover rate with cooks 8. The appetizers were the only thing that was really good on our table And the presentation was good on the food but that was it. This restaurant needs a good firm manager that is about customer service and quality of food. Overall experience and quality, POOR. When such things happen, a bill should be on the house, instead of charging us and just cutting the prices in half! I live right up the street from this place so me and a friend decided to check it out for a late lunch @ 2PM. Entered the first floor bar, too busy with the crowd for Sounders game so we went upstairs. 3 people at the bar, 4 people in two different booths, not busy at all. One person was scrubbing tables, looked up, did not acknowledge us. Another woman came out of kitchen, saw us, ignored us. I walked over to bar and said excuse me to bartender to get her attention, she punched some information into her screen and then just walked away. Rude, inattentive, and can't give a shit ???? My friend and I are clean, classy 60 somethings so we don't look like bums that had just wandered in. We left and walked over to Club Hollywood. It was packed, girl said Hello, seat yourself I'll be with you in just a minute as we were walking up the ramp. Goodbye The Drift hello Borealis. We came this last Friday to hear PETTY THIEF AND FRIENDS. The staff and service was great, the food was good and it came fast, I want to try more and the sound was great but....I was told the doors opened at 7:00 ,I got there right at 7 and the place was packed, apparently they were letting people in at 615. I grabbed a seat at the bar,only seats available. I don't want to pay 15 $ and see a band on the monitor at the bar. You can't see the band when it is packed in there.NOT KIDDING. Then you go and stand on the side by the bathrooms to try and see and you only can see part of the stage. It seems backwards. The stage should be where the mixing board is and vice versa. There's this whole area that is unused that could be utilized with more tables. I don't get it. A stage by the bathrooms...weird. And websites with three different times posted. 730_1130 then another 830_1130 then another 830_12, come on folks figure it out. But I will be back. read more

Until last Saturday evening I would have given Aurora Borealis 5 stars for food and service. However on Saturday my husband and I sat at the bar for drinks and apps, one of which was the fondue. The fondue was a plastic ball reminiscent of silly putty. We held the ball up to show our bartender and he apologized and went to the kitchen to speak with the chefs. We were expecting a new fondue to be made... however the bartender returned and stated that the chef said this batch was a lot better than the earlier batches. That was it. We did not complain further as the ball of putty was tasty but it definitely was not a fondue. Just worrisome how a chef with integrity could send that out. The first month after opening the food was excellent.... but lately it is not on point. Including hockey puck meatballs in the spaghetti. We will be back as we really enjoy the live music and staff is super kind and friendly. read more

Part of the five stars is just from being so excited to have solid nightlife in Shoreline....but the other part comes from the fantastic cover bands, excellent drinks, and great food! The staff was super friendly but a little short handed when I went, but since they had only been open a week I'm sure they'll get that taken care of. My wife & I and another couple tried this new restaurant in shoreline. When we first came in, we were greeted with a very friendly, outgoing host that happen to be our waitress. Her name is Heather. She was very pleasant to talk to & very patient with all our questions we were having about the place & their food. She even offered to tour the entire facility just like being in someone's home. Atmosphere in this place was very modern & gorgeous. We enjoyed being toured around & explained what the venue were used to be & the transition to a new welcoming restaurant. Food portion was enormous which what we really love & the prices were fair for the amount we were getting. All of us in our party had a to go box to take home because we could not finish it. Their food were tasty & you won't be disappointed. We ordered two appetizers & my favorite was the dates wrapped in bacon. Garlic pita bread was also a hit with steam clams. I ordered Western bacon burger & was huge. My wife had a pot roast & that was also great. We enjoyed our dining experience because of Heather & Bri. They were constantly checking up on us if everything was ok & we need anything else. Our drinks were being refill even before you ask for it. Definitely will be back again!!!! read more

Visited last night to hear Big Dog Revue, a band we love! I don't know what the owners or managers are thinking, but clearly they DON'T KNOW how to run a successful lounge or bar! There were NO servers, we had to go to the bar to get our own drink. Ok, so we had brought a bottle of wine and willing to pay the corking fee. Then we were handed two PLASTIC CUPS, "we don't serve glass in the lounge". Then we decided to order food, "we don't serve food from the restaurant anymore, we only have hamburgers and appetizers." They were not willing to make us a salad!!!!! Unbelievable. They didn't even have the heat on!!!!!!! I won't bore you with the excuses we heard as to why all of this changed, but it was the WORST experience and I don't plan to return and neither will the friends we were with. My one friend ordered a Martini and I kid you not, they served it in a mini-plastic cup. The olives were bigger than the drink and it cost $8! This is absolutely no way to run a bar and the reason I tell you that emphatically is my parents owned a successful bar, restaurant and lounge with live music for 20 years, and I know what excellent service looks, feels, smells and acts like, and this was the farthest example of that! Shame on the cheap, inexperienced owner/managers who are more worried about their pocket book than the customer! This won't last. read more

Came for the Seahawks niners game on Monday night. Service was abysmal again. I was served one beer through four quarters of play. When I went to the bar to finally order one, they were out of half the taps. I got my tab and went to get water at the other end of the bar. Unlike most bars that have a water station, they leave a pitcher of water on the bar-it was empty. After the game, the bartender approaches me with a tab and says someone put beers and shots on my tab. I told her I closed my tab already and it's not my tab. She then went after someone else for the tab. This place is crazy- they spent all that money to fancy the building up, but aren't investing in people so it is staffed properly and professionally. That was my last visit to AB...to leave that frustrated after that big Hawk win just shows it's not the place for me. Hard to see this place staying open under current owner/management. read more

I really wish I could give them 5 stars, since I love supporting music venues. We were there for a show on a Saturday night, sitting on the floor by the stage. The pros: the sound system is the bomb! The food is pretty decent for bar food, with a good variety. They were having an Oktoberfest special on steins of beer that was good deal. The cons: the service. They messed up one of our party's bill by adding another person's entree to it, then the waitress gave me serious grief about asking for an itemized bill. She looked at it briefly and told me it was right and tried to refuse an itemized bill. Itemized bills are pretty much standard, since people do make mistakes. The other flaw was that I had ordered a dessert with my dinner of mud pie. The dessert was served first, before any other food hit the table by 5-10 minutes. That's not OK, as it started melting immediately. No apology from the waitress. Yes, it was a busy night, but we were there well prior to the show starting, so as not to stress out the wait staff when we ordered food, and knowing we'd have a sizeable group. They appeared well staffed for the crowd, so I think it was an individual wait staff issue. If you're going just for music, it's great! read more
