Saltoro's was a lovely experience with friends. Fish and chips wonderful crispy and flaky fish. Fries very good. Roasted Cauliflower appetizer was a complete surprise. Sauce and yumminess with pine nuts. So good! The special pie for the day was fabulous. We split it four ways and all raves. Cookie crust, toasted coconut on top ice cream and fudge drizzle. Service was excellent. Clean and lovely atmosphere. Definitely going back when in Seattle again. read more

Well, it's been a while since being here. Nice decor, ambiance is neighborhood and welcoming, hasnt changed. First was beverages, canned soda, ok. Poured soda and can sat on table for a while. Both mine and my daughters. Ordered Brussels sprouts salad, pork cheeks w/polenta, and the bolognase. The pork cheeks were great, tender and flavorful. The pasta was also very good, maybe a little more veal, but still satisfying. The snooker was the Brussels salad; not very much of a salad, a small strip of raw sliced thin sprouts, 4 odd shaped and random jicama,(blind 4yr old prepping?) Standard Italian dressing, prosciutto was burned and cooked in old oil you could taste. Very skimpy sprinkle and also stale. Means not wrapped overnight. Overall a nice dinner with my daughter and it was fun to check it out again. read more

What a surprise! I've driven by here a million times and the "seafood" "land food" on the sign never spiked my interest being vegan. My sister moved by here so we walked over and tried it for drinks and so glad we did. The inside is nice and has a lovely ambiance. The bar is nice and open and a clementine drink and a cucumber drink were delicious! Service was great too. We also got a brocollini appetizer which was perfect. I honestly do not know why we had not tried Saltoro sooner, but we're hooked. A restaurant buddy said it was one of their favorites and I can see why. The interior sets the mood; warm, relaxed, casual but with some definite style. I think they even had a fire going. Nice. Good place for a date. Our server set the mood with a warm welcome and drinks came quickly while we looked over the menu. I had heard the food was good but I was very pleased with the pricing on the menu--especially after our entrees came. I'd heard the roast chicken was great but opted for the pappardelle and was rewarded. Super rich and velvety, it was a perfect accompaniment to my glass of wine. Hubby's halibut was terrific and we both agreed we were remiss in not coming to Saltoro sooner. The fallen chocolate cake was great--perfect cap to the evening. This is my favorite upscale place in North Seattle. The food is excellent. I have never been disappointed with anything on the menu. I had the pappardelle the last time I visited. It was outstanding. This was a tough choice because I am always drawn to the lamb burger. And, I always make sure there are truffle fries at the table. No matter what food is in front of me, I am always so appreciative of the wait staff. They are incredibly professional, engage on a personal level, and have a deep knowledge of the food being served. Finally, their cocktails and wine list are exceptional: good prices and tasty. read more

4.5 stars! Very cozy, homey exterior. PACKED on a Saturday night. Been wanting to try this spot for a while! There were many amazing sounding dishes on their seasonal menu such as a rack of lamb and duck cassoulet. Tried Seasonal Drinks: Mexican Penicillin ($12), Holiday Sparkler ($9.5). I liked these! They are nothing fancy though. Mains -Butternut Squash Ravioli ($16) - as with all typical ravioli dishes this only came with 3 raviolis, but that sauce was INSANE! Super creamy with a hint of almond-y sweetness, perhaps from the amaretti cookies. Loved the fresh mushrooms on top too. -Pappardelle ($18) - Also great, with a rich/creamy/meaty sauce. I'm not sure if the pastas are fresh but they sure tasted like it! Sides -Brussel Sprouts ($8): Delicious! Loved the sweetness. They are sauteed, not roasted. -Mashed Potatoes ($5): A small side, nice and garlicky. I had never heard of this place when a friend suggested it for dinner this Sunday night. It was the perfect location to meet up for our group, which is spread across King and Snohomish counties. Admittedly, I had very low expectations. After living in Seattle for 15 years, I thought I knew all the hidden gems. Boy, was I wrong! I was truly impressed by the incredible service at Saltoro, on top of the solid food. I cannot believe this place flies a bit under the radar! (Maybe folks are keeping this secret to themselves?!) Our group of five was seated by the fireplace in the main dining room at the coziest table, where we ordered a bottle of wine and some bread to start. I chose the spinach and goat cheese salad as my app, which came beautifully dressed in a tangy mustard vinaigrette (I was glad our server warned us that the dressing was a bit on the mustard side, it definitely has a kick!!) For my entree, I ordered the fresh mozzarella pizzette. The caramelized onions on this small pizza provide such a perfect contrast in flavor. The pizzette comes topped with arugula and roasted plum tomatoes. It's definitely on the smaller side for a pizza, but it's the perfect portion for one person. The crust was crispy and had a hint of salt. I loved it! The real star of Saltoro was the service. I didn't catch our server's name, but she was so attentive and accommodating to some small requested modifications. And when the bill came, she even offered to split it into everyone's individual order. Not easy for a group of 5, but she did it with ease. We were a table of 5 Adults and two kids. We went in on a Saturday dinner with last mi Ute restaurant and were accommodated quite quickly. We all tried something different from the menu which I wish was broader. The menu lacked a powerhouse special and bordered on American fare which I wish was more Italian based. The drinks were incredible and held their own! The waitress knew her stuff which was golden! I was craving Ox tails but my dinner had been changed over to Beef Short ribs which were good just not the Ox tails I was expecting so poo-hoop to that, they don't get all their points. So it's barely Italian but I give it a steady 9 for quality of food, excellent service and for making us feel happy with a special COZY on top! Gotta try it, you'll come back! read more

We celebrated our son's birthday at Saltoro and were not disappointed! Thought it was very crowded and we anticipated a long wait, we were surprised to be seated within five minutes of arrival. We had Niciose salad, fish and chips, and the Pappardelle w/lamb bolognese. For starters we had cocktails, calamari [steak??] app,, steamer clams, and chick pea app. The apps were okay but the real star was the Pappardelle. All the food was tasty, though Lu felt the Niçoise salad could have been a little better seasoned. Our server was very responsive and friendly.due to the large crowd it was a bit noisy but not too bad. I'm sure we'll be back to Saltoro! read more

I have dined at Saltoro before and the food is good, but I was extremely disappointed.Last night when I ordered the butternut squash ravioli, it was three very small flat pieces barely even an appetizer size. The restaurant's response was that it is what it is.... We ask for another half order which came. Of course, after everyone else in the party was finished eating. A disappointing dining experience when I was trying to impress a couple people. On a good note, I did find out after I ordered that. They do have a vegetarian menu available. But you have to know about it and ask for it. read more

Hidden neighborhood gem! I have lived in the area 20 years and had never been here, but I was curious and looked at the website. Menu had me drooling and hello brunch here I come. Well, it was delightful! We were pleasantly surprised to find a fireplace and we were able to sit right next to it, bonus! Food and service were excellent overall. Husband had the special (Breakfast Catastrophe ) and I had Forager Breakfast, we shared some mini sausage rolls which I am actually salivating over right now as I recall how delicious they were. Bar was well-stocked and the Bloody Mary was a well-garnished reliable standard (not too spicy- but if you want more heat I bet they could turn it up for you). This was key because my husband had never had a Bloody Mary before, and he enjoyed it! Coffee was great. Flavor profiles of the dishes we tried were well-represented by menu descriptions. Delivery only review: My husband I frequently ate at Saltoro, but there were several menu changes and the food quality seemed to go down. Their service wasn't great either. So we stopped going. Fast forward about four years... and since it was our anniversary, we decided to order in a 'fancy' meal, because we just didn't feel like going out. And although we had stopped going to Saltoro we gave them another shot. And I'm so glad we did, because our meal was delicious. I ordered the roasted half chicken and my husband got the braised short rib... and everything was so yummy. The short rib was so tender and the sauce that accompanied it was delicious. The roasted chicken was so good and the mushrooms that came with it were amazing. Our only complaint was that the sauces kind of disappeared from the takeout boxes, and the portions were a little on the small side (they look bigger in photos). But the food was so tasty, we've decided it's time to try eating at Saltoro again! read more

Everything about this place was great. The waiter was super kind and great. We got the truffle fries which came with an aioli and it went very well with the fries. The pasta we got was so delicious. We got a few drinks as well and they were both great. Finally we got the strawberry shortcake which is seasonal which tasted delicious. Inside was also enjoyable, and I really liked how you can sit outside as well. Overall it was a great experience and we will be retuning! read more

My friends and I had a birthday dinner at Saltoro, and we had an AMAZING experience. Although the restaurant is pretty far, it's totally worth it. We made a reservation ahead of time and told them that we'd bring a cake (cake service is $1 each I believe), and they were very willing to abide by our requests! A huge table was set aside for us and they provided the fridge/plates/knife necessary for us to do a nice birthday celebration. As for the actual food, it was incredible. I personally ordered the Love Bird drink and the Pappardelle. The Love Bird was definitely a fancy wine, but it went well with my dinner. The Pappardelle comes with veal bolognese and ricotta and is WELL worth the price you pay. I daresay it may be my favorite pasta in the Seattle area so far. The meat sauce is just great and the noodles are perfectly cooked. All of my friends' other dishes were equally amazing from the ones that I sampled :) I'd love to come back if I'm ever in the Shoreline area. read more

After a long walk/run around Greenlake, we decided upon recommendation to eat at Saltoro. Onsite free parking and plenty of spots. The front waiter let us choose our table and iced water was promptly dropped off. Our orders: Two drinks (1x shrub, 1x cocktail). starters of Beets Salad, Seafood Skewers and Truffle Fries. Drinks were good, could use more beets in the salad, seafood skewers were okay (tad overpriced), truffle fries was delicious. For entrees we got the Sea Salt Half Chicken and Short Ribs, nothing special, it was between decent/good. Coffee and mango mousse dessert to end our meal. Total came out to be ~170$ with an 18% tip. Since it was a long drive for us, not sure we'll go again but Saltoro is solid and their menu often change. Maybe we'll check them out in the Fall. read more

Highly disappointed, it's not even gonna be a second try place for us... Got home and the 3 large size 'butternut ravioli' were so cold in the middle I suspect they were frozen and not properly defrosted... also green inside and tasted nothing like butternut squash. The calamari was served with a strangely tasteless sauce... considering it was what we got for our toddler since they have no children's menu I was hoping it would be better. The breading is well flavoured but the calamari rings almost nonexistent inside. I'm not sure if they shrivelled or what. Personally I'm also just confused on why it was served with a lime We did like the Wild Mushroom pasta, which has multiple types of mushroom! But even how good it was can't outweigh the rest. Also we were given a TO-GO CHARGE... I know it's lame to be salty about $1.47, but we've never seen a to-go charge before and I am irritated. Our toddler is under 2 and obviously not vaccinated against Covid-19. We exclusively do take-out since one of my uncles ended up in the ICU... we're really not trying to take risks when we can avoid it with options like to-go... However I feel like I've literally had to pay a penalty here for prioritising my child. This is a popular neighborhood eatery that we have seen to over the course of about 10 years. It has gone down hill unfortunately and it's hard to recommend at this time. Ambiance is the same it has always been, fern bar without the ferns. Our latest experience was not good. One entree had a piece of jewelry or something in it. Otherwise that pasta was fine. My truffle fries didn't have any truffle oil on them. My meat dish was cooked perfectly. Cocktails were good, beer was advertised as $6.50, but charged $7. Service was slow and I had to flag down staff 3 times. I hope to update this review after my next visit with a better experience. But it will be a little while. read more

We have been ordering takeout from here over the past year, at least. My last two meals from here have been mediocre. As a treat, I decided to order the thirty-seven dollar halibut entree. I ordered this dish before and it was wonderful, with rice, broccoli, and a brandy cream sauce. The halibut was cooked to perfection. This time my halibut is so dried out, I could bounce it off of a wall. Gone are the rice etc., replaced by oily bell peppers mixed with a couple of potato pieces. The cream sauce tastes only like cream with no other flavor. The meal is reminiscent of something prepared by a fry cook rather than a chef. I am so sorry that I will be saying goodbye to this restaurant. read more

The food can be wonderful and the service is usually above average. But they really need to hire a bartender. I love to sit at the bar, and the server assigned to cover the 14 seats in the bar also has to make all the drinks for the entire restaurant. It's OK if it's moderately busy, but last night our food was cold, because the server just didn't have time to pick it and put it in front of us in a timely fashion. Also when it's busy and you sit in the bar, you don't get any extra attention, refilled water glasses, or check-ins because your server is too busy being the bartender. Love this neighborhood restaurant! Ambience is lovely, service is great, and food is outstanding. They don't have a huge menu, but there is something for almost everyone. Their parking lot is quite busy, so you may need to park in the neighborhood and walk a block or two, but it's worth it! read more

My husband and I decided to try this place since I now have to avoid foods containing nickel (ie., soy, nuts, beans, shellfish, leafy vegetables etc). Their menu had good options and I had the bolognese pappardelle and my husband had the linguine with chicken breast. Both were very good! When the host greeted us, he led us to the dining area and said we can "check our options" and proceeded to show us the three available tables. We had never really experienced that but I really appreciated it since I do like to pick where I sit if possible. The place can get a little loud with all the conversations going on so I felt like I had to talk louder for my husband and the waitress to hear me. Definitely coming back! read more

I was so disappointed and unsatisfied. Food was amazing. Drinks amazing. Staff fantastic. The establishment felt cheap and grungy. IMO they need to make it look higher end and charge more. I'd gladly come back. Bathroom was very smelly, (but not dirty). Tables were dinky felt like they would fall n break. Place was still clean/tidy. Anyway the worst and most important part was that my pasta was tiny. I'm still hungry. I took a picture after one small bite. Relative to my average sz spoon & fork. It was a handful of noodles. We have been coming here for over 20 years, both prior to the old and new ownership, supporting them with frequent take out during Covid and subsequent dinners in house with guests and family. Unfortunately this restaurant has been on a downward spiral over the past few years both in terms of quality, consistency and preparation. Tonight was really our limit. We ordered Caesar salad which arrived with wilted and brown romaine. The crotons were not seasoned or toasted but rather plain stale bread. We ordered a pasta dish which was overcooked, gummy and clumped together. We also ordered a hamburger and fries. The fries were cold, which they readily replaced but the hamburger was tasteless and greasy. Although the roll was decent the accompanying lettuce and tomato were wilted and tasteless.We did not use the mayonnaise based sauces as they looked as though they had been sitting out unrefrigerated for some time. It is unfortunate that one of the few neighborhood bistro style restaurants has not been able to maintain the quality that was once a given. Sadly Saltoros will not be on our "go to," list. We hope that this will change. read more
