They don't even deserve a star! worse service from the doors officer to the window employee. And those by the window don't give you clear explanation nor guidance they should be retrained !!!! I took someone in for the test he passed the test but I left his proof of address in my car ( ... i went out to grab the proof of address 5-10 min to walk across the parking lot) and when i came in the lady refuse to take us just because it was 4 pm. bare in mind they close at 5 pm and we were the only person in already and in line. I m against what Doge is doing but honestly if this are the kind of employee the government or the state has, its sucks!!! I will definitely agreed with them submitting what they do. I just hope not to see the same UNPROFESSIONAL employee if I ever have to go back in there!

I was out of town and my paper plates expired, could not locate any of the words "expired temporary/paper plates expired/renewal" online via the website, so I walked in to be helped. The lady at the front desk helped me find the correct area online and the next available appointment is March 2ed...13 days away. You use be able to sacrifice 2 to 3 hours waiting in line and get everything done that you needed to get done at this DMV, now instead of 2-3 hours it's a week to 2 week wait. How is this an improvement with the mandatory online scheduling versus walk in appointments? Edited for spelling

I'm not sure when it was updated, but I'm thinking 1980 something. It's dated, looks dirty, and is in a strip mall where some ladies were looking for customers to take to the motel across the street. The Process-I can tell you that there are people with appointments, who are in and out in 15 min or less. For the rest, it could take a while. Not an extremely long time, but they speed up dramatically when it's closing time. The Employees- Yes, it's obvious some hate their jobs. Most are friendly and courteous, a few were curt and in my opinion, need a hug, a role model, or someone to tell them things are going to be ok. The Customers- Wow. This place has a rough crowd. There is a sign to let you know you will be removed for being loud or violent. This is a bring a book, dont make too much eye contact kind of place. For those in the know, it's prison rules in here. It was a pretty good experience, but the tension in here could be cut with a knife. Good luck, and remember you can renew online before your license expires, and skip this whole experience.

As I watched people come in not aware of the situation. She treated each individual as if they didn't understand what she was saying, before they could say anything she would cut them off rolling her eyes. Alex had a very distasteful demeanor. Poor customer service. She shouldn't be the face representing the state. I will never return to this location.

If ever there were a well-run Federal, State, or County office full of fun, efficient, and well-meaning people, this is it. Believe me. I have lived in California! This place is a dream. i arrived a good five minutes late for my computer-arranged appointment and the greeter told me "Doesn 't matter a bit. Come on in." Wow, off to a good start. I was immediately called up and began explaining how I lost my wallet with my credit cards, cash, and CDL in it. I was quickly given an eye test that was generous enough and realistic, I thought. My distance-panes are indeed close to window glass, so the test was fair and representative. Happily I passed and am not required to wear eyeglasses on the road. The only document they sought from me was my birth certificate, which I offered, having been prepared by the internet sites to bring along. When asked to pay the $12 fee, I realized suddenly, "No wallet, no money!" And I asked my wife to run to the car for a moment to get her purse. As she did so, my clerk took on (courteously and duly) the next person in line, but when my wife soon arrived with money, another clerk immediately called me up and continued our procedure. Both clerks and the camera lady were so friendly, as was the recpetionist. I couldn't believe I was in a Civic office of any kind. Bravo to the manager. If I still had a business, I'd hire her (I think i saw a woman-manager) in a heartbeat. For whatever reason, from my experience, procedures and efficiency at the vehicle licensing office on Pecos are well behind the Federal Blvd., though clerks there, too, have always done their best to serve well and pleasantly. Autre temps, autre moeurs, I guess. Thank you, folks on Federal. An amazing job! My visit there was a fun one, and not the onerous chore I had dreaded. Afterthought...The only downside to this whole experience was my initial quest to seek information on the internet. In the net, I encountered dea phone numbers and instructions that were unintelligle and impossible to carry out, for one reason or another. Definitions were not clear ("lost license" vs. "renewal of license"--one and the same procedure or different?) and the seeming demand for a very recent optometric certificate read-out, for example, were daunting problems... You will sweat on the internet, but slide downhill at the office. Do we really demand of the elderly that they alone get an optometric certificate of good sight? It is a fact of science that in the elderly, the pupil of the eye usually shrinks, affording better vision than before. I see a bit of age discrimination in all this, too. And collusion between the State and the Optometric Association. Our elders can't in many cases afford $75-150 for a full-fledged, superfluous eye examination "within six months of DMV application." But hooray for 8464 Federal and the people there!

You should talk to your State legislators if you think they need more resources. The DMV has made a huge effort to upgrade to a modern computing platform. The system went live on February 16, 2026 and not only streamlines the workflow at DMV offices, it also offers the new myDMV portal which can be used to manage personal information, receive electronic notices, renew your driver's license, pre-register for a license/permit/ID, check status, renew registration, schedule appointments, and other routine services. There's also a new MVExpress service, 70 automated kiosks scattered around the State, generally at DMV offices or grocery stores. Most online transactions can also be performed at the kiosks. The hope is that many basic transactions will be done online or at a kiosk, freeing up the DMV staff to handle the more complex issues. I had a title transfer, so I went to the DMV office in person. The only DMV entrance at this location is the door off the parking lot in the rear of the building. Three people are allowed inside at one time to line up at the check-in desk. A friendly staffer quickly reviewed my issue and assigned me a number via a text to my cell phone. I was to leave the building once I was in the queue. You can return once you reach fifth place in the electronic line. There's a link in the initial text to a real-time app that shows your exact place in the queue. This works very well. You can leave and go about your business. Just return when you're approaching the end of the line. I arrived at 9:40 a.m. on a Thursday. It took me eight minutes to check-in. There were five people ahead of me and the line moved fairly quickly. The staffer thought it would be two hours until my number came up; it actually took three hours, but I was able to deal with my day while watching the countdown on the app. I returned to the office when I got to eighth on the queue, sat outside for a bit, then was allowed to go to the waiting room when I hit fifth. It took 30 minutes in all to be called to a window from eighth place and I spent 15 minutes with the staffer. Seating outside the building is very limited, two concrete benches on the front of the building facing Tremont Place. The staff suggests sitting in your car if you need to wait, but this can be uncomfortable on a warm day. Some additional, shaded seating would be a nice addition. There are a number of coffee shops and restaurants within the immediate area. Everything ran pretty smoothly. I think this system is about as effective as the DMV can be, given their personnel limitations. Two out of ten windows were operating when I made it to the waiting room, then a third opened after awhile. All of the staffers seemed friendly and willing to help. The crowd of customers was patient and polite. It is really helpful to see the queue and to know your exact status.

I had another appointment that i could not miss. Incredible waste of time. Horrible system. This is government failure. I'll be writing my legislators because im not sure where else to voice this complaint about a systemic issue.
