The old backdoor was, kind of, a joke, because it didn't really close and cold wind could come in…read moreeasily and one could clearly see that was extremely outdated. I contacted "American Thermal Window Products" and wanted to get this house project rolling before 2022 came. Unfortunately, due to labor and material shortages, I was informed the door installation would be at least a three-month wait. Hey, that wasn't the company's fault and I always received a good service and prompt responses from the office. Nick was assigned to get in touch with me for an estimate. Nick and everyone else in the office were very friendly. Nick explained everything about the estimate (free in-person estimate) and answered any questions we had. He emphasized that everyone involving with the installation process worked for the company. With that being said, there would be no third party contractors hired off the street! I understood the virtue of using the company employees. I have been part of the gig economy for some times. I wouldn't say the contractors wouldn't do a job, yet there could be a lack of accountability on their part of work certainly. In late February 2022, I received a voicemail from Linda and immediately called the office. She scheduled the installation date for me and provided an arrival window. The crew came in prepared within the window and was ready to work! The installation was rather quick. The cleaning was thorough. Everything was painless. The crew leader told us that adjustment could be made if there was a need. That door...let me tell ya...was a godsent. It helped conserve the heat. It did have an energy-star icon, for those who are into the energy-efficient appliances. It is also esthetically pleasing. Overall, I'm very satisfied. I'm going to inspect the windows for the rest of the house and to see if I can get "American Thermal Window Products" involved again.

I was absolutely ecstatic to find out that Fixer had new owners and the company would live on. The…read morehandiman I worked with a couple of years ago was great, and their team came in handy for research on other projects. I recommended Fixer often (until I found out the company closed). I could not be more disappointed in the company's policy and concierges now. Although Fixer charges at least $150 more than six other estimates I got, I kept thinking, "But I know their work. I should just pay the higher rate." I was still hesitating because even their higher estimate sounded like it could increase based on the reason for the repair. When I read the Terms & Conditions policy on their website, there was nothing about a warranty on there. I decided to move on and seriously talk to the other six contractors who were contacting me. But the concierge followed up about my original request. I explained that the company having no warranty made me nervous because I could end up stuck paying for a job that needs to be redone. They heard me out and agreed to a one-year warranty as long as it was their workmanship. Although I still winced at the invoice just linking to their website where they could change the terms again any time they felt like it, I seriously considered them again. They confirmed that they would not match the price of one of the six contractors (who I decided not to work with because his LLC and invoice was sketchy). Fast forward to ONE DAY LATER and me realizing I could fix one repair myself (after speaking with another homeowner) and completing it yesterday evening. I decided to go ahead and hire them for the other, more-involved job. If the job was more expensive, so be it. At least I knew it would be with a company I could trust. And somehow, even though I agreed to THEIR higher rate and the potential that it could be higher, they backtracked on their own warranty agreement. It's like I'm being punished for having the audacity to shop around for cheaper contractors and having the wherewithal to fix one repair by myself. Shame on me, I suppose. After a bunch of back and forth and them backtracking on their own DOCUMENTED price that I'd already sent to the insurance company, I threw in the towel. I will hire someone else. I'm not about to beg a company to pay them. I miss Old Fixer. New Fixer leaves much to be desired.

There was only 1 that had what I was looking for in a handyman company. Included in my list of requirements was BBB registration, insurance to protect customers and very positive reviews on all the main sites (Angi, Yelp, Google, etc.). It was also important that the 'company' be more than one person and have experience in the projects that I was interested in doing. Only one of those companies checked all the boxes: Welter Home Services. I called them and spoke with Kevin about our current and future needs. We had 3 projects. I wanted to do one to be sure I was pleased with their work (I was) before starting the other two. Kevin explained what labor and materials we needed to complete the job. He provided a detailed estimate with all materials and labor stated. Our first project was the replacement of a kitchen pantry door - including the whole door frame, hardware and trim. This required removing the old door, frame and trim - and painting the new door, frame and trim. On the agreed upon date, a Welter HS employee showed up at our door exactly on time. He was very pleasant and helpful. He completed the project, checked his work and made some touchups where the appearance as not "perfect", then did a great job of cleaning up the area he had worked in. We are very pleased with Welter HS and the work they completed for us: on time and for the price they quoted. We are moving forward with the next two projects and are looking forward to getting them completed with the same quality and professionalism that they applied to this first project.

To me, his number one goal is to deliver a quality product without cutting corners. He is adept with his communication and listening skills. He is very clean, he partitions his work area with plastic sheeting, not allowing dust to spread throughout your home. He cleans up every evening prior to going home. Luis successfully bade and completed two very complex jobs on time and on budget. Job 1: Remove exterior door, concert landing, replace 2 sheets of exterior siding, frame and insulate the existing opening. Hang drywall to the interior seamlessly matching the existing walls and paint. Conclusion: Luis completed the job in 3 days. Viewing the interior and exterior of my home, you'd never know an exterior door existed at the previous location. All remnants of the landing were gone. Job 2: Luis expertly hand painted (two coats) my 2000 sq ft home and elongated 2 car garage. He was very detail oriented, painting the house, trim and doors. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give Mr. Luis Lopez Handyman a solid 10 for the 2 different jobs he completed for me.

After asking questions to get a better understanding of the project, he gave us a quote and told us he could be out there the following morning. When Jay arrived with his team member, Juan, he re-explained what the project would entail and then Juan got to work. Juan ensured everything was covered and protected from the drywall dust/paint drips and worked extremely efficiently. Within 6 hours, our project was complete. As we are looking for a new home to purchase, we will definitely be reaching out to Dirty Deeds for any renovation needs.
