After much research and estimates from Lowe's, Home Depot and other contractors, we went with Landmark Ext. for our windows, interior and front doors and larger/upgraded back patio door. They took the time to explain the differences and warranties promised by the others, and ensure we were making an informed and cost saving decision (although we spent more on our interior (hollow vs. solid)... totally our choice). Worked was described, scheduled and executed as planned, with very little rescheduling (I believe we had 1 hiccup in email correspondence, but that was quickly fixed with a phone call). Remove and Replace siding..have had to redo or have things redone/finished already ..no communication once they got the down payment with signed contract the sales person ghosted me I had to make myself a pain in the ass moved up the food chain in management to find someone who got stuff done but it still took a lot of time and effort with a few MIA days on their part with no communication to get a reply on any questions took days at times the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing..had to have some structural work done (tuck pointing) they were to comeback and finish like one panel..They have been ignoring my calls to the point of Oh we are sorry and wIll pass the info along and someone will get back with you to resolve and Im still waiting . They have not finished a new overhead garage door trim and a panel on the front of the building to be hung . The quality of workmanship ... meh ..50/50 ie covering holes in the underlayment base with tyvek and tape in stead of cutting a patch/plug to fill the hole securely kinda slip shod ignore lots of small things no attention to detail..They charge TOP DOLLAR but really don't deliver they are actually a factory authorized dealer thats the main reason I choose them means nothing..Ive had smaller contractors do a much better job. Would I use them again or recommend . NOT !!!!!! They did call once last minute said they were on their way over to finish with no warning or heads up " we'll be there in 10 minutes" Problem was I was heading not of town and materials were locked up and I dont trust em to be alone had to cancel I had to cancel the appointment . Update So made it thru a winter unfinished and the some of the caulk is starting to separate going to have to be redone. The last contact I had from them was Feb. 4 2026 from the owner saying he was going to check it out to see what the situation was and get back to me. Never happened !! read more

Our sales representative walked us through the various options we had, answered all of our questions thoroughly and we ultimately decided upon the Marvin windows as the best option for us. We were kept updated throughout the process leading up to installation so at the time of the installation we had plenty of time to prepare. The installers did an amazing job and kept us informed as to how the job was progressing. Don't bother calling them. They came highly recommended. I have contacted them 3 times over 14 days and still have not received an estimate. They have promised to give an estimate on my roof replacement, and they have not responded. The first time the secretary said someone would be out just to take measurements and then they would email. It is a one floor ranch home, nothing complicated. I got no reply. I called again. The secretary looked up my information and then hesitated and said, "Oh, they are still working on it but would I will let me know tomorrow." Six days later still no response. Our experience with Landmark has been terrible...twice. Shame on us for giving them a second try. First of all, I apologize--this is a long overdue review. This happened a few years ago and has been sitting forgotten in my drafts folder. We bought a condo, and the condo has sliding glass doors in almost every room. They were old (probably from the 80's), so we assumed they would be drafty in the winter and not energy efficient, so we decided to replace them all with top of the line Anderson "E" grade sliding doors to keep the condo warm and cozy in the winter, and keep the A/C costs down in the summer. We have Anderson sliding doors (purchased and installed about ten years ago by Home Depot) at the old house, and those doors were outstanding. We went to Landmark, and noticed at the showroom that the insulation where the two doors come together was different than what we had on the Anderson doors we'd previously installed at our old house. We mentioned it to the sales person, and he said that this was "new and improved" insulation. So...the doors were purchased and installed. And that's when all the problems started... (I'm listing the issues not in the order that they happened, but in order of importance.) PROBLEM #1 It's freezing in the condo! The doors are drafty EVERYWHERE! Along the bottom, in the space in the center where the two doors meet, along the top... We stuffed towels and tissue all along the edges, cranked up the heat, and it helps a little, but...WTF????? $20K for new, top-of-the-line doors, and they might even be worse than the cruddy old doors that they replaced!!! Went to the old house to see if the old Anderson doors are keeping the cold out, and sure enough, the old doors--installed by Home Depot--are performing perfectly. PROBLEM #2 When the doors were installed, they weren't at all the color (a bright white) that we saw in the showroom. They were kind of a strange, dingy gray. Our contractor, who was there working on other things, looked at the doors and said "Those were primed, they were never painted." The representative from Landmark came out and said "That's a white door." It was not. It looked nothing like what we saw in the showroom. We wound up having to have our contractor's people paint the doors. PROBLEM #3 - Two of the patio doors didn't lock. They came out and fixed them, but now the foot lock doesn't work. Beyond that, the customer service at Landmark is terrible. And we should have anticipated this. Years ago, we used them at the house to replace the fascia and downspouts and soffits, and the first time it rained, the water was pouring over one of the gutters. We called, and spoke to one of the owners--Paul--who said that it was "worthless" to come out and look at it when it wasn't raining, but he promised that as soon as there was rain, he would come. In the meantime, we called the roofer, and the roofer came out the next day, looked at it, found the problem, fixed it on the spot. Never heard from Paul again...even when it rained. read more

We were also satisfied with the pricing for this fine product. On the day of installation, the installers (2 men - led by Mike) were very punctual, and they worked efficiently and were very courteous. both salesperson, Pete and installers, Mike and his brother deserve 5 stars. the painter and his wife should be one star- calling at 8:30 trying to reschedule for the following day. after I said No they finally arrived at 11:00 am. the first hour they were on the phone before finally starting to work. taking down the shade the painter broke the bracket for my Hunter Douglas window treatments. I happened to be close by and saw it. he tried to say I didn't need it that two would work. I pushed him on it and told him I wanted the same number that was there before he broke it. He and his wife left to find a replacement bracket for 1 1/2 hours. returning after 4:00 pm they were finally ready to begin painting. when asked how long they would be, his reply was a couple hours - now needing to cancel my evening plans because of them. he then tried to explain why he wanted to push off until the next day. this would have made the project 4 days when we were originally told 2-3 days. not the quality of workers I had experienced with the installers. I had certain rooms closed because I did not want anyone in those areas nor did they need to be. the installers respected it, however the painters enter them and left the doors open, even making a mess in a bathroom they I had off limits. there was another one for everyone to use. read more

And you really can't open it without a handle (that you would expect to come with window anyway...). And now they want to charge us more money to come out and put a handle on... $1300 for ONE window and your gonna have the balls to charge us more the FINISH THE JOB!? Never told us that a HANDLE TO OPEN THE WINDOW was not included, And wanna charge for an installer to come out and for the part. really!? We just had our front entry door installed they did an outstanding job, very professional. I would highly recommend them.

My wife and I requested a estimate for windows and doors a few weeks ago and our experience was horrible. We had Mike from landmark do the measurements during the winter and we were ready to move forward earlier this month. He said he would have in done over the weekend but we received nothing. Unfortunately, this would continually happen with no communication from the Mike the sales representative. My wife would have to constantly email him asking for the estimate and I finally called to see what the problem was. He said he'd have to us later that day with no apologize or explanation as to why we have been ignored. We finally received one part of the estimate and the cycle of chasing him down started all over again. While we waited my wife asked some questions and made a request that the entire estimate be put in one email. When we finally received the other part of the estimate no questions were answered, the estimate was still separate, and it did not include a additional window we requested when we meet with him in the showroom 3 week prior. Needless to say we were over it but we didn't want to start this process all over so, I requested to speak with one of the owners. I was sent a email saying that Paul (co-owner) would contact me sometime Monday. Well, it's Tuesday evening and have not heard a thing from anyone at landmark. They lost over 20k in business with us and it doesn't seem to bother them. It blows me mind how they stay in business when that's how they conduct their business. read more

I would like to give Landmark no stars. The install on my siding job took nearly two years. Six months after the original siding install, my house was outside of the building code, as it had no railing -- although I a railing was to be part of the install. Additionally, the installers left both my new video doorbell and security camera hanging by its wire and non functional. The install was in the fall of 2021. When I hadn't heard back from Landmark by June of 2022, I started what would end up being a lengthy series of calls and emails to get them to complete the job. I'm convinced that, had I not called, they would not have completed the job -- ever. They ended up installing a railing -- but it wasn't the one I ordered. No one checked with me to see if the replacement would be okay. They just installed it. My doorbell was hanging by its wires so long, it broke. I asked them to replace it, which they did -- in early 2023 (that's right, more than a year after the original install). Then, they sent me two threatening notes demanding payment, although the job wasn't yet complete -- my security camera was still dangling from a wire and unusable due to a mistake in the install. They even sent one of their contractors out to repair it, and the contractor said it was broken and unable to be installed. Then they finally installed a new camera -- one month shy of TWO YEARS after I signed my contract with them. They accused me of saying my camera didn't work -- it was their contractor who said it was improperly installed. They took my old camera, which they said was still working (theft?) and then tried to charge me $350 for the new camera, which only costs about $140. I have requested and not received the QR code for the new camera, so it still does not function. Two years for an install that still left me with a broken security camera. The worst part was the threats in their emails to pay for an incomplete job -- as well as the sheer time and effort it took to get them to finish what they started. I wish I could bill them for my time, and I wish I had read more of these reviews before hiring them. Caveat emptor! read more

After losing one of the windows that I purchased and paid for , I was given the runaround on when I can expect to receive it. Landmark saved me, and literally was instrumental in assisting with the sale of my house. Upon receiving an offer, the Buyer for undisclosed reasons requested an accelerated closing to seal the deal. Several windows on my lower level needed to be replaced. There was a warranty, however time was the issue. I offered incentives, however the Buyer insisted on full replacement. I went into panic mode. The next morning contacted Landmark. Within two hours John came to my home to assess the window situation. That afternoon replacement windows were ordered along with an immediate install date. Because of John and the Landmark Team I met the assigned deadline and was able to accommodate the Buyers request to close 72 hours sooner then the scheduled date. My experience with Landmark Exterior was totally unacceptable! Their customer service is non-existent. They wanted a fee of $105 an hour to correct an installation problem. I had to call the Marvin Windows to get Landmark to perform minimal service without the $105 an hour charge. Had a problem with a ThermaTru Door and they completely ignored the problem. While I'm not saying not use them, I'm definitely saying I have not used for a project and would not recommend them based on my experience with them! read more

We used LandMark Exteriors of Libertyville for Marvin Infinity fiberglass casement windows. The product and installers were excellent. Unfortunately, the salesman botched the order in that we were supposed to receive E3 glass, but instead the order came through with E2 glass. We were offered full replacements of E3 or money back in return for the mistake, and we opted for the cash. The trim/casings dimensions were messed up twice, which was frustrating since we sanded and stained the wrong ones ourselves, but that finally got fixed by LandMark. We still have more windows to replace. Would we use LandMark again? Maybe, though we would consider a Marvin competitor too. Attention to detail is very important to me, and it was lacking for this job. That said, the people at LandMark are very responsive and friendly. read more

Based on our buying experience, LandMark should have five stars. Buying was great. The staff was helpful, had no pressure and really helped us choose the perfect replacement windows and patio doors. They measured three times to make sure our windows would be perfect. When it comes to replacement windows and patio doors once you pick a brand and material the prices are all close vendor to vendor, read that as EXPENSIVE. We double checked we'd have the proper trim material. Because staining the wood trim was a lot extra we decided to stain the trim ourselves. While it was frustrating, I was told upfront that nail holes would not be patched and we would have to take care of it. Because of the ridiculous cost of new windows it seemed strange that a small job like filling nail holes would not be done. Now to the install. The windows themselves went in great. While the old patio doors and all windows were being removed the old stuff was being tossed around my yard, nails pointing up, sharp edges every where. I had to really watch where we were waking. While they did clean up at the end of each day, I am still concerned that there are nails and shape objects in my grass. The problem was the trim install. It was not communicated that the new trim wasn't lining up with where the old trim was. Rather than patch the drywall or touch up paint, they choose to make the trim odd. It had weird pieces of flat wood that was not constant in sized, it could be the normal 1/4 inch showing to 2 inches showing all on the same window. It was dreadful, yet they saw nothing wrong with it. I had to really have a fit and get my sales person out to get the trim done right. I have some drywall to patch and touch up as they do not do that, but the trim is now acceptable. Not fabulous, but acceptable. Over all good as far as window and door people go. However really watch their trim work and be specific with what you want up front. If You're not handy, get a contractor lined up for after as you will need them. read more

I wish that I could give LandMark Exteriors and our sales rep, Mike Kerr, six stars. The entire experience went so very smoothly, and Mike's attentiveness and helpfulness were outstanding. We had new windows put in almost our entire house, so it was a large job. At the start of the process when we were shopping around, Mike showed us several different options with various window companies and told us frankly the pros and cons of each different kind of window so that we could make an informed decision. We never felt any of the usual "salesman pressure" from Mike whatsoever; in fact, he even steered us away from one type of window that was lovely but really would not have been a good fit with our house's style, even though it was expensive and would have been a larger sale for him. The installation and final staining process was very smooth, clean, and easy. The work was done well and neatly. The windows we selected have now been in for about a month or two. They look great with our house, and we have noticed no problems with them yet. The extraordinary follow-up attention we've continued to receive from Mike makes us fully confident that should any problems arise, they would be solved quickly and with no questions asked. Mike even advised and assisted us after the windows were in, when we put a room AC unit in one of the new windows. He has unquestionably gone above and beyond in customer service. I am high disappointed with my experience with Landmark Exteriors Libertyville, with the constant lack of follow through and communication from their staff. We paid Landmark Exteriors nearly $8,700 for a new, customer-made Simpson wood exterior door and side lights. The door was ordered in early February 2019. And, while we were told there may be some manufacturing-related delays, we didn't expect to have to call Landmark every month for an update ... and wait a few days for an answer. Some initiative on Landmark's part to keep up updated would have been appreciated. The door was finally available for installation in late May 2019. The scheduling department finally called to schedule an installation appointment that fit their needs--not the customer's availability. After I made accommodations with my employer to be at the house "from 1:00 to 3:00 PM" on a Monday, Landmark confirmed the date and time twice. Then, when the installers didn't show up, I had to wait for a response from the scheduler. Their response was, "Between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM today." When the installers didn't show up at 5:00 PM, I called again. Landmark effectively said that another customer's more-complex installation was a higher priority. They attempted to schedule for another day and time--that, again, did not fit with my availability. I told Landmark to either arrive today or to hold the door until July, when I would have enough availability to wait around for another entire day... When the installed did arrive, closer to 6:00 PM, I had to change my family's plans for the evening. Then one of the installers nearly cut his finger off in our front lawn! I gave him a bag of ice and offered to call an ambulance. He wrapped the bleeding finger with electrical tape and drove himself to the hospital. Next, the remaining installer realized that Landmark had stained all the brick mold and trim the WRONG color! They could not finish the installation! The installer left the house with the edges of the door frame exposed to the elements (and holes large enough to fit your hand into between the door frame and brick casing. Since I already had the ear of Landmark's project management team (answering questions about their pending workman's compensation claim), I asked when they would return to finish the job. I was told that the trim would be stained and ready for installation on "Wednesday". As expected, Wednesday came and went. I made more accommodations to fit my schedule around Landmark's installer's availability: "Friday". The installers showed up on time and completed the installation. However, the painter who was assigned to finish the job showed up nearly two hours late and couldn't understand why I needed him to finish installing and painting the interior trim first (because I had a hard stop at 4:00 PM to attend my son's graduation). The painter finished his interior work at 5:15 PM. Thanks! We barely made the graduation event! The following Monday, Landmark actually called me asking for final payment. I told them I was not fully satisfied with the quality of the Simpson door, noting: * The interior side of the door was delivered damaged, with a gouge out of the wood below the windows (which was "patched" by the painter" but is still visible in daylight); * none of the 12 custom-ordered pieces of beveled glass were installed the same direction. The manufacturers' logos were upside down, backwards, inside-out, etc.; and * the customer-ordered bronze handle and lock set are mounted crooked on both sides of the door. Landmark expected me to pay by check. I told them that for all the trouble I went through waited for the door to be delivered, the effort it took to re-arrange my work schedule, my family's schedule, the extra days it took to complete the installation, and the trauma of seeing someone nearly sever a digit on my lawn, Landmark should offer me a modest discount. I suggested that I be allowed to pay by credit card, so I could benefit from some affinity airline miles (since I had to take a vacation day to finally have this door installed). Landmark balked! They'd "already given me a discount to pay by check" and didn't want to pay the retailer's service fee on the $4,346 credit card charge. They'd have to, of course, call me back. They did eventually call me back ... a few hours later, agreeing to allow me to pay the balance with a credit card. I've paid for the door, received a copy of my receipt in the mail, and a request to complete this survey. By completing this customer satisfaction survey, Landmark has stated in writing that they will "send me a gift card for [my] time. I wonder if I'll have to call their office to receive my gift. read more
