This office is very high-tech! I was taken into a separate room to do a complete set of x-rays where they must have taken every single view possible of my teeth. My wife recommended this office to me because she had a great experience. I went in after not seeing dentists for 5 years and for a possible broken filling. I ended up needing 3 crowns, a filling, and a thorough cleaning. They were able to do all of this that day, which was awesome. They also offered multiple different options for the crowns to meet my budget, and offered in house interest free financing, which just made things that much easier. The staff was incredible pleasant, friendly, and took their time to check that I was doing OK often, and were willing to give me a break if needed, since it ended up being a 4+ hr appointment. I didn't, but they were great to offer. I had an incredible experience and will be using them for all my future dental needs, at least while I am living in the Denver area. read more

I came here because I saw the great reviews when I first moved to this area. I have been nothing but impressed by these doctors! Dr. McCann is so incredible with her TMJ treatment! My husband and I went in for dental cleaning and check ups. We don't have dental insurance and Aurora Modern Dentistry advertises new patients' 1st time visit as $59 - provided you don't have periodontal disease. Neither of us had periodontal disease, thank goodness, however we were told we each needed other services and ended up spending way more than we thought we would. They have a payment plan, which they offered and approved us for and we are pleased with that. Overall the visits went ok, I liked the office, and everyone seemed to work efficiently together there, but there were a few practices that made me uneasy - which I will tell you about: 1) at Check in we were required to sign and Exam Consent, and strangely we were never shown or given a copy of this paper to read, we just had to sign the electronic signature pad in order to begin our exams. I felt weird about signing something with not even so much as a copy or a review of the document, so I asked specifically for a copy. Later, upon reading it, I learned that we basically signed off on allowing the dentists to change or add procedures due to any unforeseen conditions during the exam, and that it is ok, if they so choose, for the office to record interactions with doctors and staff to ensure quality of care for their patients. Those things were not brought up on the receptionist's summary of the document. 2) we signed a HIPPA agreement in the same way - the receptionist summarized then asked us to sign, with out a copy of review. I asked for copies of these as well. Everything else happened rather quickly and we had our teeth examined then the additional procedures explained to us. We went ahead and (sort of) trusted that they were being honest with us and we consented to the procedures, and the dental payment plan. Those procedures took a long time but we were happy with the technicians level of professionalism, courtesy and were happy that the office worked quite efficiently as a team effort to get you out of the office. This was the first dental visit where I had a cavity filled, so I am pretty turned off allllltogether on dentists as a whole, but they were good to me, I think it is just the dental work that I would rather never ever have to do again. read more

I got some crowns(2) here, the first set of teeth to come back from the lab didn't fit. Then by the time the second 2 teeth came back from the lab it had been 3 weeks without having front teeth to bite into stuff. The crowns I got after 3 weeks need to be changed out with crowns that fit better since these don't fit well and are causing pain. They always take you back at least 20minutes after your scheduled time, then you wait some more when u get taken back. They're also disrespectful of people's personal affairs *update* Told my dentist the crowns put on the 4th time r uncomfortable and causing swelling in my gums, dentist chooses to tell me it's good enough and she's not going to help me read more

I had quite the experience at this place. Let me explain. I had scheduled an X-Ray and cleaning cause it had been a while since I went to the Dentist. When I first got in and brought to the back, we did the X-rays on my mouth and then I was brought into another room to await my cleaning. Within 5 minutes of my X-rays, the dentist came into my room with a Finance sheet, a laundry list of work they said I needed done to my mouth, a $9,000 quote put in front of my face and over the top pressuring to schedule follow up appointments for some serious dental work, including a nasal lift, tooth extraction and implant and a root canal on another tooth as well as repairing an old filling. My gut instincts kicked in as I thought this was unusual and completely unprofessional chair side manner and it felt like a money grab scheme. Well, guess what, I was right. I immediately scheduled another appointment at a more reputable business to get a 2nd opinion. The tooth they wanted to extract and put an implant in, only needed a cavity repair and filling. The tooth they said needed a root canal on the other side, literally had nothing wrong with the tooth. Like nothing at all, the new dentist referred to it as a "Virgin" tooth and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, and this fucking place wanted to do a ROOT CANAL on a perfectly healthy tooth!!!! The old filling I have, is in great shape and there is no new decay or anything wrong with it. AND this fucking place wanted to completely replace it with a new filling. It was the least professional place I have ever been to in the medical and dental field. They are there to take your money. Unprofessional dentist, unprofessional staff. And when I requested a records release, I faxed over the information 5 times and they never responded or released my records. It took a phone call from the new dentist pressing them for MY MEDICAL RECORDS to get them. This place is a fucking nightmare and I would run as fast as you can away from this place. They do not have your best interests in mind and are clearing ripping people the fuck off. Go to an actual accredited dental office, this place is a fucking joke. read more

I came into a perfectly spotless and bright office. The receptionist, Reya (I'm guessing at the spelling. She pronounced it REE-ah) was helping someone else when I walked in, but as soon as she was done, she greeted me. She went over my paperwork with me and then had me sign for twice on an electronic pad. Once for me to agree to get dental care and then for the HIPPA. She took a moment to make sure I understood what HIPPA was and to ask if I wanted anyone else to have access to my files. She told me to have a seat and someone would be right with me. And someone was right with me. I was sitting for a minute and a half when the x-ray tech called my name and took me back to the x-ray room. We chatted while she took the x-rays. After she was done, she took me back to an exam room. The hygienist came in. She explained to me what she was going to be doing, checking the pockets in my gums. And then she gave me sunglasses so the light wouldn't be too bright in my face. Then she checked the pockets in my gums. After a lot of high numbers (she explained 3 and below was a good score) she suggested that I should have a deep cleaning. She explained the procedure to me. Then the Dr. McCann came in. She politely introduced herself and talk with they hygienist. The dentist went over my medical history with me and then had me sign an electronic pad saying that we had discussed my medical history. She went over my x-rays with me and told me about a myriad of problem, but she was upbeat and friendly the whole time. I explained that I didn't have any money. She told me which of the problems was the most urgent and gave told me the cheapest way to fix it. I felt very much like she wanted me to make decisions right then and there. And I don't do that. I said I wanted to think about it. She went on to explain the procedure very clearly and then asked what I wanted to do. I repeated that I wanted to think about it. She told me she would have someone explain the payment plans that they had. She shook my hand and left. Reya came in and went over the costs and the payment plans with me. She was clear and very easy to understand. Then she asked me what I wanted to do and again I said that I wanted to think about it. She concluded and said that she would take me up front to pay. I asked if I could use the bathroom. She directed me towards the bathroom and told me she would meet me up front. The bathroom was clean and simple. I went up front and paid. Reya printed out the payment information we had gone over, put that in a folder with my receipt. She handed me the folder, we exchanged pleasant good byes and then I left. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I hadn't been to the dentist in three years. And I was happy to be able to go and to only spend $60 to go, but I didn't get the cleaning that was promised in the special. I guess because I needed a deep cleaning, they didn't bother to do the superficial cleaning, which would have been nice, since I paid for it. Maybe it wouldn't have done much good, but I would have gotten that clean teeth feeling. And I just felt really pressured to make a decision on the spot. read more

Last Tuesday, 11/30 I had an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed. I was told to be there at 9:00am, but ended up waiting an hour and 15 minutes before I was finally called back for the procedure. Surgery finished and I was wheeled out the back of the office with only a generic oral post-op sheet and a single prescription for Hydrocodone. After a week of swelling and pain in my jaw, teeth and the surgical sites, I come to find that there were THREE other medications I was supposed to be taking, starting the day after my surgery. Neither I, nor my care taker were informed of the 3 other narcotic and antibiotic pills I was supposed to be on. As a result my face is still swollen, I have an infection in my mouth, and severe pain coming from my teeth. I discovered this yesterday when I called the office to speak to a doctor about the pain I was still feeling. The person on the phone could not clearly tell me why I was not given the prescriptions when I was physically at the office. So not only were they not given to me initially, I also wasn't informed that I needed them, and no one could explain why I had to make 2 separate trips to Walgreens! So, I go to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions and guess what, they have no information for me on file. After about 40 minutes of going back and forth between the Walgreens pharmacy and the receptionist at the dentist office; I finally get the chance to pay full price for my medication because there was no record of my medical insurance... Not only has this whole ordeal been a nightmare, but the pain and infection have affected my performance at work. The miscommunication and negligence by Aurora Modern Dentistry is absolutely inexcusable. This situation is something I have told many of my friends, family, and co-workers about. I'm still in disgust at how this managed to happen. read more

I had been coming to see Dr. McCann since this office was built. I have had a new assistant clean my teeth each time (only 2 can I remember being very thorough). I attributed this to the fact that the Doctor was building her business (she now owns 5+ locations within Colorado and out of state). Now, 4 crowns later and 1 of those 3yr old molar crowns not being placed correctly, I have to pay another dentist at another practice to replace it and hope that he can catch the begins of a cavity in time, saving me from an eventual root canal! Let me point out that I have excellent teeth, no cavities in 40years, and have spent thousands of dollars in orthodontics and been extremely diligent in the care of my teeth. This dentist and her office staff are not a quality that I suggest to those who expect similar results. Get a 2nd opinion from this dentist office, and if you can, look elsewhere. Look for a smaller location with many more years of experience as this office and Doctor are NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

I never write reviews...ever. But due to the TERRIBLE service, I feel like I NEED to. This place takes advantage of patients, manipulates them, and then slams a huge bill at them. Unnecessary treatments were done, but they made everything seem like it was URGENT, so they used scare tactics to make me agree. I was crying throughout my whole appointment and was very overwhelmed. I expressed to them I just lost my job and would not be able to pay, but they continued. I went to another dentist and they said that Modern Dentistry is known for this. Known for trying to get the most money out of patients. I finished up my dental work at another office and it cost 75% LESS than what these people charged me. AND they did a very poor job with a temp crown, which left me in a lot of pain. I have contacted my insurance about this office to tell them I felt totally scammed. This place was definitely not the right place for me. I left my initial exam confused, suspicious and anxious. I was told that I had numerous dental concerns that needed to be addressed sooner rather than later and I would need to shell out $760 out of pocket for a "deep cleaning". Granted, they did offer a payment plan for this supposed deep cleaning that I NEEDED but still..that's a lot of money for me right now. Besides, they told me they couldn't do the cleaning that day and that I would have to come back another day. So that was the confusing part....I walked in there expecting to have my teeth cleaned (after xrays of course). I scheduled my deep cleaning for a few weeks out due to my work schedule and thank God I did that. I had time to mull it over and do some research which I should've done in the first place. In the end I decided to leave their practice and go to a smaller/single dentist practice. My prior dental concerns (needing a deep cleaning, etc.) were not only alleviated but debunked as well. The hygienist was flabbergasted that I was told such a thing...as was my dentist. I'm so glad I followed my instincts on this one! read more

We just went to our new dentist for a routine checkup and my bf needed a crown on his teeth. I remembered when he got one of those done at Aurora Modern Dentistry two years ago, the procedure seems slightly different than what the new dentist had suggested so I called them hoping to get the old estimate/work order to compare. I first called two weeks ago, spoke to a lady at the front desk. She found the info just fine, and said she can scan it and email them to my bf, cc'ing me. A week has gone by, nothing, so I went through their website's contact us on 9/5 to follow up. I still heard nothing. So I called again Wednesday 9/11, and this time, I spoke with a guy named Homer. First he told me the prices wouldn't be the same, which I said it's fine, I just want to compare it with the work the new dentist has suggested. I asked him to look and see if he can find the request I sent through the website, he says it doesn't matter I'll just help you now. When I told him it's actually for my bf's record, he told me he can't release the info to me because of HIPPA, which I said it seems obvious to me at this point that they don't keep records very well because we've done all these stuff two years ago when we first went there. And I told him, it's fine, I'll have my bf call and get it. I'm just pointing out the fact that they don't have good customer service. If they got the paperwork out and realized there is not a current HIPPA form attached to release the info, then email or call me to tell me, instead of ignoring it for two weeks. And then he says "Well why does it matter, you have a new dentist now anyways." Didn't sound like he wanted an explanation then so I'll explain it to you here now. It mattered because if I find out that your office actually does the procedure more efficiently and/or your office hours might actually matches our schedule better for these longer visits, we could still come back. My boyfriend called the next day, asked for everything they have on file emailed to him. What did he get? Only the xrays. No document on previous procedures done. So he had to call, again to ask for the rest of the info. Well Homer is right about one thing, it doesn't matter anymore, because of your terrible customer service represents your office, which says you don't care about previous clients or potentially new/returning ones. We'll take our records and info, and go to another dentist that will likely provide very similar same-day crown service, just without the attitude or bad customer service. I guess I should've learned from my first experience instead of thinking they might actually improve. read more

I have been in and out of dentists offices since a child and have had many extensive procedures at various offices. Aurora Modern Dentistry is HANDS DOWN THE BEST out of every other dentist I've been to. I would go as far as to say that you won't find a better Dentistry anywhere else. Everyone was SO kind, answered all of my questions, gave me plenty of options, contacted my insurance BEFORE anything was decided so I didn't ever have to guess what insurance would/wouldn't cover, and had such quality communication skills and were very personable. Filled out forms, they took X-rays, ineptly, then the doc saw me for 5 minutes and stepped out. Then the Marketing gal shows up with her pack of lies and finally gets to the real cost: the 59 special for services I don't need, and $103 for cementing a crown. I am never waiting past my appointment time, in fact they bring me in early if I arrive early. They were awesome with my wisdom tooth surgery as they have plenty of other locations around Denver to get all your needs met. I went to this facility to have silver fillings removed and they ended up putting crowns on all but one, but to my lack of finances. Turns out I got a lot of sensitivity on all my teeth they worked on and also on my other side of my mouth. So the endodontist they consult with stated I never should have received crowns so he performed a root canal. So their office charges me for anesthesia again along with another huge bill. Than I end of having my other filling removed and they place a crown with the machine dying in the middle of procedure. I have to go back the next day to replace the crown. I feel like they honestly don't know what they are doing at this place. I continue to have sensitivity on the opposite side of my mouth since all this occurred. I was wrongfully diagnosed right from the beginning. It seems they just want to get people in and out fast and take their money. Not impressed with this place. read more

I'll start with the good. They are friendly, the place is clean, and they have a few modern conveniences (eg. computerized signature pads, a computer terminal set up on which you enter your health history, and digital xrays). They were helpful in making sure my insurance was accepted before I committed to an appt. There was a fairly thorough physical exam questionaire before the dental work. Now for the bad. They pass you between techs like you are a basketball. I've never had so many people work on or with me in one dental visit. There is little consistency, and everyone just does their specialized piece and in comes the next person. The xrays were the most time consuming part of the entire experience--which doesn't help me one bit as my teeth don't get any cleaner from getting them--although, the girl doing them was proficient, friendly, and as fast as she could be. I had two different assts clean my teeth, and between the two of them it was the worst cleaning this regular visitor (every 6-8 months for life) to a dentist office has ever received! There was no flossing, I got home and did it myself and found a small amt of gunk still built up between teeth. While I usually have a clean mouth, with minimal scraping, the techs who have cleaned my teeth in all of my prior visits to other offices, at least made attempts to scrape clean the spaces between my teeth. At this dentist office, they just said "Wow. You've got a healthy mouth! Looks good!" and that was that. No attention to cleaning my mouth. While friendly and talkative, the girl who polished my teeth had no dedicated route around my mouth and missed half of the teeth she was supposed to clean. And that's the only service she provided (aside from her randome role in the checkout, see below)! My cleaning consisted of a bajillion xrays and photos of my teeth, a 'cavatation' procedure which was supposed to root out all the bacteria under my gums, and a very minimal polish that did not hit all my teeth, nor did it do both sides of my teeth. There was no testing to see how loose my gums were (you know when they stick the metal hook into each pocket and give it a rating: 2-3-2, etc.). There was no input on how to remove stains from my teeth. There was minimal scraping on approximately two teeth. And as mentioned prior, no flossing between teeth. They didn't miss asking if I wanted fluoride treatment, however. That costs an extra 30 bucks...out of pocket. I declined. Also, it was the first place the dentist came to look at my teeth BEFORE a cleaning. I thought that was unusual, but hey, maybe she likes to see how 'real' it is. Another unusual thing: no free toothbrush or sample toothpastes or dental floss. My prior dentist used to lavish the freebies on clients--including mini-chapsticks. So not even receiving a free toothbrush was a shock. First time that's EVER gone down on a dental visit for me. Another snafu: as I was checking out, the tooth-polish girl (who is also the check out girl?) tried to charge me 59.00 for the cleaning, without looking whether I had insurance or not. I had to tell her that it was completely covered by insurance, and my part of it should have been 0.00. If I had not cleared that before with others in the office before making the appt, I might have been out 60 bucks for just not asking about the insurance coverage. To sum it up: while everyone was very polite, talkative, and friendly---it was a very subpar cleaning and the whole experience was an odd one b/c of all the different folks who work on you during the visit and the total lack of actual work done to clean my teeth--which was the main reason I was there, hence the very low rating. read more

Everyone in this office is so nice. Myself and my husband been seen by Dr. K and ive seen periodontist to have surgery. They make it very easy to plan treatment and were even able to do my cleaning and surgeries in the same visits as the consultations. The financial gal is so sweet and gives you the best and easiest options for payment. They are very modern and have great equipment and the staff is very nice. Good location too. But I felt like I was in a used car lot. They try to sell you on everything and then if you say no they send someone else in to tell you about the financing options. My wife and I went in on separate days and a normal cleaning took them 3 hours. I was taken back immediately when I got there but then there was a lot of waiting after that. I told them I don't want to do anything that insurance won't cover. They looked into what the insurance would cover (my insurance sucks). They are very big on selling you the payment plan option. I got a statement from insurance saying they wouldn't cover what they did. (What I have seen in the past the insurance tells how much they did cover but not this time). I thought I was going to have a huge bill but Aurora Modern Dentistry said they would not charge me. Over all very nice staff, very modern, very big on up-selling. read more

I paid more than $7,000 for my sons dental work and I'm still receiving bills because the office "thought Dr.Kaz was in Delta Dentals network." I've been calling and gone in several times to speak to the manager and I rarely get a call back. The last time we did finally speak he said everything was squared away. A week later I get another bill for $699. My sons crown was placed on his front tooth crooked, so I've invested a ton of money to receive shoddy work and be harassed! read more

I will never go back to this place. Horrible treatment of dedicated customers. I called at 2:50 pm to let the office know we would be a few minutes late for my daughter's 3:00 pm appointment yesterday. There was an accident on the highway and we couldn't get off or go around. The receptionist stated that, if we were going to be a few minutes late, we would have to cancel and reschedule our appointment because the hygienists were "running behind". Confused, I stated to the receptionist that if they were running behind, then they wouldn't be able to see my daughter right at 3:00 pm anyway, so why couldn't we still come just a few minutes past that time. After another hold, she told me that's just the way it was and that there was nothing she could do about; she stated she was just doing what they told her to do (I assume she meant the hygienists). However, she was completely defensive and rude and insinuated that it was my fault we were late therefore it was also my fault that the appointment would have to be rescheduled for another day. I pleaded that it was difficult for me to take off of work and I had rearranged my day to get my daughter to this appointment, they didn't care one bit. Not to mention, myself and my two children have been going to this office a couple of years for various appointments and they have NEVER called us back for 10-15 minutes or more after our scheduled appointment time. I am going to find a dentist office that values their patients and is understanding when events out of their control cause them to be a few minutes late one time. Customer service is everything and this clinic clearly doesn't know the definition. read more

WOW these folks were great. They are a new location that has been open only a few months, but are positioned well to become the areas most popular dentistry. I called in on Monday for an appointment to get a filling replaced and since it was not "painful" there was no need to rush. I was still offered, any day that worked for me and ended up settling on Thursday morning, around 7am. That's right, they have early hours and late hours so those of us who have obligations can get our appointments in without missing work. From the moment I walked in, the receptionist and business manager were welcoming and informative. As another reviewer wrote, the paperless systems is very efficient and easy to work with. I then met with the dental assistant who took possibly the most comprehensive, yet painless x-rays and pictures (no sharp plastic wedged in your mouth). I then was escorted to chair and offered a water while I waited. The dentist (Cory I believe) was in the room within in minutes and took a genuine interest in me the person, before his interest in me the patient. His manner was very welcoming and eased the typical fear or anxiousness associated with the dentist. We walked through my x-rays, 1 by 1 and he spoke plain english so that I could understand what was going on (not a lot of dental speak that means nothing to me). We discussed a treatment plan and then he began fixing my filling. The best part is that the business manager and the dentist were on the same page with what my insurance would cover, what my out of pocket costs would be, and my options, BEFORE they did anything. This allowed me to make informed decisions and was absolutely huge for me. I would recommend this dentistry to anyone who is looking for a dentist who is ahead of the curve on technology and still has a passion for people. read more

I have gone to this practice a couple of times, but last night was the last straw. I had called my insurance company to ensure that a cleaning would be covered as well as an annual set of x-rays - I was told they would be. When I got to the office, I was told I had to pay $60. When I contested the charges, they looked into it and found an error and then I was told that I would be charged $29. I asked for what and was told that it was for a fluoride treatment - but had I not asked I would have received a treatment that is recommended, but not needed for someone over the age of 18. We will be finding a new dentist, because of all of the add ons that are not posted or discussed up front. Makes me wonder how many of the treatments my husband has received in the past two years were also unnecessary. I also totally echo Christine G. about the x-rays - watch out for this place! And defiantly ask what services are recommended versus suggested before you pay for anything! read more

The staff were generally not very friendly, and the dentist seemed more interested in very narrow recommendations and practices rather than the patient's overall health. It was one of my worst dentist experiences ever. I was recommended $4000 worth of work after meeting with the dentist, including a root canal, crown, and special cleaning. I visited another dentist who did x-rays and a thorough mouth exam and stated that a root canal was not required, and recommended about $400 worth of work. Aurora Modern's dentist rebuked me for my tooth cleaning habits (brush 2x/day & floss 1x/day) and told I MUST use ONE particular kind of mouthwash that has a very high alcohol content every day. This place definitely hustles you -- what other dentists do during a routine cleaning will cost extra for "special cleaning" here. When a filling can be fixed with just a new filling, they recommended a root canal. Other "Modern Dentist" locations have been much better. Stay away. read more

Unless you have a craving for the hard sell on unneeded services, I'd suggest you stay away. I have a lot of experience with dentists. Good reliable dentists you can trust. This is not one. Went in for a cleaning / exam because they were on the HMO list from my insurance company. Before it was over they were pressing me, saying I needed an additional $1600 in special cleaning/treatment, that they would provide for a discounted price of $600 out of my pocket (interestingly, although pushed as crucial, none of this would be covered by my comprehensive plan.) I should actually have noticed warning signs right up front, but I am a trusting soul. They have a series of electronic signature pads throughout the office. These are somewhat unique in that not only do the pads not "echo back" your signature, but they do not even give you a clear indication of what you are agreeing to (you have to trust what they verbally tell you the signature will link to.) Then, in the exam chair, yep, you guessed it, a signature pad attached right to the dental equipment. When it came time to push the unneeded services, they sent in the "closer" (my term, just like the high pressure car joints), who offered me two choices of "pre-approved" credit plans I could use to pay for the bloat-care that the insurance company won't touch. My suggestion is to go find a good dentist and avoid this place! read more
