This is one of the worst dental offices I have ever visited. The lack of professionalism and organization is appalling. It used to be Open and Affordable Dental. I originally was serviced at the Cherry Creek location since I lived close by. I then moved east and went to the Aurora location. Every single time I had gone there over the last few years I have had a different dentist. The team members must be playing a game of musical chairs because I do not see the same people working there when I go to get a cleaning/check-up. On my most recent visit x-rays were taken by the dental assistant, an x-ray body shield was not put on me to protect me. Not sure if that is a new process or protecting me was ignored. I feel that Just U Dental has too many shortcuts. My insurance recently changed and I was not asked about the change to update. Instead I was asked to pay out of pocket repeatedly by one of the doctors. That was the final straw that broke the camels back. I have no intention of going back and am looking for a new dental facility. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it is conveniently located for me. read more

This Dental office is amazing! Dr. Fopma was kind, attentive and most importantly, concerned about how the dental decisions we made together impacted my overall health. I had an absolutely awful experience with this dentist that has completely upended my life. Last year, I went in with the intention of having all my front teeth pulled and getting a partial denture. However, Dr. Fopma refused to do this. Knowing my teeth were in poor health and visibly broken, dentures were my first choice. I had no pain in my teeth besides minor sensitivity to cold but wanted them to look cosmetically appealing for my wedding in April. But instead, Dr. Fopma insisted that I needed multiple crowns, claiming this would solve my dental issues, improve my smile, prolonging my bone and jaw health, all while supposedly costing less. She ignored my wishes, saying, "I wouldn't let my daughter do that at such a young age." Feeling rushed and pressured in the chair, I reluctantly agreed to the crowns so we could just get started. The results have been disastrous. From the beginning, the crowns were poorly fitted, causing constant pain and sensitivity that never went away. They shift when I chew or even move my mouth in certain ways, putting pressure on different teeth and parts of my gums. Half of them no longer feel securely attached, and my jaw is constantly fatigued near those teeth. When I went back for adjustments about a month after getting the crowns, the dentist was dismissive, blamed me for the pain, and offered no real solutions, except to charge me another $80. I was given antibiotics even though the X-rays showed no infection. Dr. Fopma also did not acknowledge when I mentioned there was movement and grinding of the crowns. About two months after getting the crowns, I went to Comfort Dental for a second opinion. I explained that I had been given antibiotics, which alleviated some of the gum pain but did nothing to address the grinding, tension, or overall pain and sensitivity. The dentist there questioned why I was given antibiotics if I had no infection but suggested I must have had one since the antibiotics provided some relief. They performed tests on my teeth and confirmed that there was definite movement. They presented a few options to fix the issues, but I couldn't afford them. Since then, I've been waiting in pain that only gets worse. On top of that, I was never properly informed about how to care for the crowns. I was only given a quick demonstration of how they fit over a tooth, but no guidance on maintenance, what foods to avoid, or what sensations might indicate a problem. Some of the crowns are so tightly fitted and pointed at the gum line that floss constantly gets stuck, making it extremely difficult to floss properly. When I raised this concern, Dr. Fopma's only response was to "pull harder," even though it felt like the crown might come loose. During an adjustment appointment, the dentist flossed my teeth so aggressively that I was in pain for four hours afterward, ignoring my complaints that flossing was already painful because the teeth were pushing against each other and shifting. I brush twice a day, floss, and use mouthwash at night, thinking it would be enough. Now, I live in constant fear whenever I feel nerve pain, not knowing if it's something serious. I even have to drink everything, including water, through a straw to avoid the pain. I've even scrounged up money to get consistent quarterly cleanings like Dr. Fopma recommended, to show my efforts of taking care of these. This experience has ruined my quality of life. I can no longer eat any of the foods I once enjoyed and have lost nearly 10 pounds over the past 9 months without intending to change my diet or exercise. Anything that requires biting is basically off-limits. While my smile looked good for my wedding in April, it has never felt as good as it looks. Daily things like shaving, washing my face in the shower, applying chapstick or eating a popsicle, cause unnecessary movement. 9 months later, I'm left with crowns that have caused new issues like bite problems and gum irritation. I've spent so much on these crowns that I can't afford to see another dentist to fix the damage or address my other damaged teeth. Maxed out my 2023 and 2024 insurance, and a new carecredit card on 6 teeth with no resolution. I'm stuck in daily discomfort with no end in sight, fearing that my underlying teeth are just decaying beneath these poorly fitted crowns. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't trust this place to do anything but dismiss my claims, instead of listening to the discomfort they caused me. I deeply regret ever trusting this dentist. Their lack of skill, empathy, and willingness to listen has left me in a worse situation than before. Please, save yourself from this nightmare and find a dentist who actually cares about your well-being, not just a quick buck. I've waisted thousands. read more

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR TEETH. I was a patient at open and affordable Aurora south '22 and '23. I had a root canal done by Dr. Annie, and when I went back to get a crown I expressed that I was still in lots of pain. There should have been no pain since a root canal takes out the nerve of the tooth, so they did some x rays, threw up their hands and said I don't know go see an endo dr." When I went to the endo dr they did their own X-rays and found the tip of an instrument was left in my tooth, causing pain and infection. He showed me on the X-ray myself I couldn't believe O&A didn't see it.... Fast forward through trying to treat the tooth unsuccessfully, I had to lose my whole tooth. And it wasn't a back tooth. I spoke with the owner of O&A who asked me to call him back when I knew what needed to be done. I also received a call from Dr. Annie who performed the procedure, rudely tell me "I can refund your Medicaid?" Which I would have seen none of because I no longer live in Colorado. So I told them I was going to sue. Dr. Annie enthusiastically said "great! Feel free to call the front desk for records". So, I called a dental malpractice lawyer. They explained to me that while accidentally leaving an instrument in your tooth isn't cause to sue, neglecting to tell your patient is. He explained that there are markings on the instrument that are very clear if a piece goes missing. So, they hid it from me! I called O&A back to speak to the owner one more time, but it's been weeks, so a little too late. My lawyer suggested we start by reporting Dr. Annie to DORA, which regulates licensure. They were supposed to do extraction they just broke tooth and left root inside and now I'm trying to figure out why. This was done by owner of the place which also is a dentist it bothers me on how he can treat a patient like that and then hang up the phone and block you so you would have to call with different phone and not get ahold of him anymore you will reach a representative that just sits there and answer phones all day with there lives and miss lead you in every direction possible beside help. Literally stellar. Had some pain that I was worried was dental in origin. They got me in the same day, and were incredibly professional and polite. The entire staff was amazing. They were running behind by like 20 minutes (which in my mind is not a big deal at all) but were incredibly apologetic. I kept trying to explain I didn't care at all. One of the dentists even came out and apologized Dr. Doan was the dentist that I saw and she was caring and thorough and competent. I would recommend her to anyone. In fact, I have, even though I only left like 30 minutes ago. She even called me once I left to offer more thoughts on the origin of my pain. Seriously, would highly highly recommend these guys. I had two occasions where they had scheduled me for an appointment only to be turned away once I showed up for the appointment. Reason was because they were not sure if everything is covered. I will be forever grateful that I found Open and Affordable Dental on Parker Rd and 225. We had a dental emergency on Friday night, and that's when I found that this place was open on Saturdays!! Whew!! Called the place at 8am Saturday, and after hearing about our emergency, she got me in to see Dr. Annie at 1:20pm. Found out what was causing the problem, and we agreed upon a course of action. What peace of mind they gave me!! Every person there was so kind, I just can't say enough nice words about the staff!! My wife's terrified of dentists and she had been putting off getting her root canal done all throughout covid. She finally bit the bullet and we went to Open and Affordable Dental. I'll be honest, there was a lot of screaming, crying, and "No no no you're not allowed to put anything in my mouth, even just to see my tooth." The dental assistant was an absolute rockstar and did a great job keeping my wife calm, explaining how the process is going, and generally being a knowledgeable and reassuring presence. The dentist was beyond talented and very understanding and patient as well. While we were there, we found out that my wife's insurance doesn't include dental! Of course, I'm freaking out, but they offered us the Affordable Discount Plan, a one-year plan including an exam visit, x-rays, a cleaning, and discounted dental services across the board for $160. Even with the cheap prices and the discount, I didn't have the funds for the full cost of the root canal, so they set me up with a payment plan without judgment and without making me feel self-conscious about it. I'm so glad my wife is covered for the next year and that finances aren't going to be an insurmountable barrier. read more
