While looking for a new dentist, I called Steele dentistry to make an appointment to meet the dentist to see if the practice is a good fit for me. The receptionist agreed to set the appointment, but demanded a credit card number, supposedly for a missed appointment fee. Of course, I hadn't missed an appointment, had never been to the office and knew nothing about this practice. Having read other reviews about problematic billing practices at Steele Dentistry I decided to look elsewhere. I understand that missed appointments are a problem for professional offices, but offending prospective patients in the interest of saving a few dollars is not, in my opinion, a sound business practice. read more

Kate Steele and her staff are amazing. They do a great job of explaining costs that are and are not covered by insurance, to the best of their knowledge. Of course, it's not always possible for them to say for sure what the ultimate out-of-pocket expense will be, but I have always found that they err on the side of caution and I often find that they have over estimated the amount that I needed to pay. Sure. I would prefer to have the exact cost the first time, but I'd rather overpay initially and get a refund than get stuck with an additional bill weeks after I thought it had all been taken care of. Dr. Randell is completely unprofessional, condescending and began work on my mouth before the numbing had a chance to kick in. Then proceeded to tell me that "I am not the norm, and 95% of patients wouldnt have reacted the way I did" and that "my pain tolerance is extremely low". Made me feel dumb and uncomfortable after I spent $650 to get a crown fixed. He also called me "sweetie" which is gross and unprofessional. Will be switching dental practices ASAP. Dr. Schaffer was extremely cautious and supportive with me while managing my struggles to become numb and not feel pain/sensations. It took five doses, and even then it was impossible to complete both procedures. This was at the end of her shift on a Friday, and yet she was accommodating and empathetic. I had a crown and 2 fillings put in by Dr. Steele. Instead of testing to see if I needed a root canal prior to inserting the crown, she just assured me since I was in no discomfort that I did not need a root canal. When I complained that my tooth was hurting a month later, she told me to come in and proceeded to give me recommendation to go see an endodontist. She charged me $47 for that visit, to tell me that she had no idea what the issue was. I indeed needed a root canal. This meant additional expense of having to have a filling in the tooth after the root canal, which I had done elsewhere, not to mention the aggravation of several unnecessary trips around the city, and 2 months of not being able to chew on one side of my mouth! Further, despite being seen by a dentist only 8 months earlier and receiving a clean bill of health, Dr. Steele insisted that I had 2 cavities under older fillings which needed immediate attention. I had not had a cavity in over 17 years. I let her fill them but I have to wonder... I question Dr. Steele's judgement as well as her ethics. read more

I didn't know going to the dentist could be such a positive experience. Steele Dentistry is all around the best dentist I've ever visited. The staff is delightfully helpful and friendly. On top of that though, I think I appreciate the honesty the most. The staff is very professional and transparent regarding what they're doing, what they see, and what should be done. I learned I need to have cavity fillings replaced, which at first I thought was something that lasted forever but after showing pictures to me, it totally made sense. 7/18/2013 Edit - Below was my original review, but after visiting another dentist I have revised my original review. This dentist tried to perform unnecessary dental work on me. She told me that I had five cavities and needed to have them filled. I almost had the work done, but her uncomfortable business practices made me get up and leave. I went to another dentist instead that came highly recommended. He saw one small cavity. He even used a laser that measures your tooth enamel. He said he sees this frequently. Having used car sales is one thing, but performing unnecessary work on someone is an assault. Original Review - I was not impressed with this dentist or her office staff. I came to this office as a new patient and I will not be going back. I needed to get additional work done and instead of just talking to me they lead you to some little room and leave you waiting for the finance person. The finance person gave me more run around and non-straight answers than financing the car at a car dealership. None of her numbers were actually correct and when I asked for correct numbers, she provided a second set of numbers that were still not correct. They tried to make me leave a credit card on file even though I have dental insurance. I eventually got so frustrated that I told them to cancel my appointment and got up and left. read more

Warning Warning Run from Steele Dentistry Warning to all current and future Steele Dentistry customers. Steele Dentistry is the most unprofessional dental office I have ever worked with. In my opinion, the worst dentistry in the city. The front desk is unable to correctly make appointments and follow up with customers by telephone with the correct information.  The billing procedures are terrible, to say the least.  Customers need to keep up with all  insurance, finance and cash payments as well as procedures performed because the front desk is clueless. The most damaging thing is that Dr. Steele is incompetent.  Dr. Steele agreed and performed implants and denture procedures that she was not  licensed to perform.  In 2019, when Dr. Steele agreed to provide implants and dentures she was not a licensed Prosthodontist.  In 2019, Dr. Steele agreed to provide me with upper dentures and 4 lower implants and lower dentures.  The implants were placed on soft bone and one implant did not take and I was billed and paid for four implants.  Additionally, the procedure for upper and lower dentures took three years to complete (this is unheard of in the dentistry).  The lab Dr. Steele insisted on using, is just as incompetent as Dr. Steele.  Once the unsuccessful process and procedures were complete (what Steele Dentistry called completion).  I had ill-fitting dentures, made with cheap material, and the gingival color was not what I had selected and was unflattering.  I looked like the Dog in the Pedigree Dentastix commercial; where the Dog had Doggy Dentures due to gum disease. I paid $15,000.00 cash for Doggy Dentures. I could have received this quality of dentures and service for free from the state welfare program.  Now, I have to go to a licensed Prosthodontist to get correct lower implants and proper fitting upper and lower dentures. They made different recommendations than a previous dentist, which was an obvious statment to their integrity, & also took care of an uneven crown (that the dentist who put it in never got right). I love doc Steele and the girls at the front desk. Doc Steele gave me her cell phone once and told me to call over the weekend if I needed to after a procedure. And, although I didn't need to, I bet she would have answered :) The front desk is always over the top friendly and helpful, even when they are busy. I love the iPad paperwork! The hygentists and dental assistants are great with my kids. My 6 year old loves coming to the dentist. They have been very patient with my reluctant and scared 4 year old. Thanks for putting up with us! Few things to improve... I get text and email reminders about cleanings/check ups/, which I like but they are wrong. I seem to get them every 3 months or so and need to get them every six months with a reminder before hand of when my six months is up. There was a young male dentist there whom I can't stand. At the end of the visit they ask if you have questions about anything and schedule your next appointment and I was in the middle of asking him about teeth whiting (to spend even more money with you) and literally cut me off mid sentence and started talking to the person in his ear phone and then left. If I could give this no stars I would. The worst are the poor fillings. My regular dentist (a teacher, not a med school student trying to pay off loans) said the filling was done with the wrong material, and it was so poorly done that they broke and came out leaving me in so much pain. I am still dealing with this and now due to how it was first dealt with I will be needing a root canal. While I was there they Gave me laughing gas and it started to suffocate me! I had to rip it off my face and tell them it was just not allowing me to breath. They half ass apologized and put it back with what seemed to be no medicine coming out so It wasn't even working. They pulled a tooth and told me to come back for the other wisdom teeth another day and re scheduled. After taking a day off of work etc etc I went in and they told me they couldn't even do the procedure. Overcharging me everytime as well. Neverrrrr!!! Such a waste of money and time read more

Ever been called and told the physical had a late minute emergency or had to travel out of town? Ever been told if you are late for your appointment you will be charged a late fee? Have they ever told you that they are going to reduce your charge for their lateness or canceled appointment? The average medical office will ask you to confirm your appointment either by return call, email, or text message a day in advance or inform them if you need to reschedule. Have YOU ever received a call saying "you must call us TWO DAYS in advance and if you call one day prior you will have to pay a $75.00 late fee." As a 100% rated veteran I chose this location since there were only three choices that were listed as  providers by the VA Community Care Center. Anytime you see a business that continues to be rated **5** Stars or any high reviews you need to revisit, rethink, and research! My family is relatively new to Denver, and I had been dragging my feet getting my five-year-old son and eighteen-month-old daughter into a new dentist in the Stapleton area. I called a few of the local dentists who had been recommended to me by friends, but none of them were accepting new patients. One of the receptionists recommended that I look into a new practice across Quebec from our neighborhood. I'm so glad that I did! That new practice was Steele Dentistry at Stapleton, and now I know that my whole crew has a new dentist to work with for the whole of our time in Denver. The facility is new, state-of-the-art, and attractive. Reception was attentive and helpful, and we didn't wait more than five minutes past our appointment time to get shown back to a chair. I was apprehensive about my son's first "official" cleaning (he has sensory issues), but the hygienist (Miss Robin) was careful to show him all of her tools, and respect his apprehensions about the cleaning. She was quick and thorough, which I appreciated. She even found a loose tooth on the bottom! Dr. Steele was completely knowledgeable and courteous. She did a quick check of my baby (who was allowed to sit on my lap), and examined my son's overbite and the discoloration on his front teeth, gave me easy-to-understand explanations, and set my mind at ease about the issues possibly resolving when his permanent teeth come in. I got instructions on how much to assist him with his brushing, and felt great about the communication, and again, respect for my childrens' limits. Even though I was nervous about taking my littles to a dental practice that was not a dedicated pediatric practice, I feel really confident now that we well be able to attend one dentist as a family. I don't understand why there have been some bad reviews of Steele Dentistry. I had a wonderful experience. Everyone was very kind, I didn't have to wait long at all, Dr. Steele was very informative and super nice, and fixed up my cavity without any discomfort on my part. In response to Kelli's experience, Dr. Steele told me that she does not do any unnecessary dental work, and the bad tooth pain I had been feeling went away after one small filling. More people with the great experience I've had should be writing reviews. It's sad that the few with a bad experience have written reviews. They are probably people who are unhappy about everything. Dr. Steele has been my dentist now for about 3 or 4 years. I give her extremely high marks. Before her, I struggled for years with sensitive teeth. My previous dentists never had much to offer. She suggested small filings near the gum line. I was incredulous at first, but the results have been nothing short of remarkable. I consider myself "cured" of sensitive teeth. I searched through the list of approved dentists in Denver on my insurance's advice, and Steele came up. Prior to Steele, I had called 3 other locations from the same list, and each one was more concerned with bringing me in as soon as possible, than answering my questions. Steele answered my questions, and put customer service as a priority. I will admit, after reading these Yelp reviews, I was hesitant. The fact that the owner spent as much time as she did justifying herself to each patient made me feel confident that Steele was credible. I am glad I did. The first visit was great, no pressure or stress. I had a great cleaning and made my second appointment for the necessary work. They called my insurance company to verify my out of pocket expenses for the work. There were no hidden charges, and everything was understood before I even booked the appointment. There were "up-sales" made (nitrous) for the second visit, and I happily took them up on it, as I had 3 hours to look forward to, I was not going to pass on some added assistance. My second visit sucked! I hate the dentist, and I would choose almost anything over having my teeth worked on. However, the staff and doctors did an amazing job eliminating 99.9% of the pain, and keeping me dosed on nitrous to keep me happy, or at least not totally unhappy. Overall a great experience! I am booking another visit for extractions next month. Although I know I am going to hate every minute of it, I am confident knowing that I will be less unhappy at Steele, than any other dentist. Additionally, I have been reading the previous reviews that almost led me away from what turned into a great experience, and it makes me thank god I am not in the service industry anymore. Coming from the restaurant industry, I realized that a complainer will find reasons to complain, regardless if you give them one. Steele Dentistry - After 2 years of treatment and 3500 dollars... - General Dentistry Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I don't know where to start with the level of service I have received at Steele dentistry. It is beyond compare. Dr. Steele was recommended to me by a friend who had gone to her for wisdom tooth extraction. She healed so quickly (way quicker than I did when mine were pulled), so I figured Dr. Steele is top rate. Well she is. I suffer from horrible TMJ. Needless to say, going to the dentist is not pleasant for me. Keeping my mouth open for that long creates a lot of discomfort and has made me dental phobic. I was suffering a really bad bout of TMJ around the time I went to see Dr. Steele. It felt like more than a bout of the disorder and I figured there was something going on with my teeth. It turns out I had 3 cavities (one rather large one) and needed a crown on a root canaled tooth that wasn't treated properly the first time. I chose to do all the work in one pop because I didn't want to have jaw pain twice. Dr. Steele was a pro. She has an amazing, comforting bedside manner. At one point in the procedure, I needed a break because of my jaw and Dr. Steele said to the dental assistant (who was just as much of a pro as Dr. Steele), "We will take all the time you need. You have nowhere you need to be right now, do you?" It was already 5:30 pm on an early close day at the practice. I ended up needing a second root canal on the tooth Dr. Steele started a crown on. I had gotten a lackluster first treatment years ago. Dr. Steele recommended a fabulous endodontist. Once that procedure was done, I went back to Dr. Steele for the permanent crown. In between all the treatments, I have had to go into Dr. Steele's office for checkups about questions I had and a few readjustments after the root canal. I was ALWAYS fit in on a last minute basis. I never felt uncomfortable or like a pain. The girls at the front desk are so accommodating and friendly. This has been quite the "dental road" for me, but from here on in, I will not go see anyone but doctor Steele. read more

Don't do it they lie they called me the day negate my appointment to tell me I didn't have insurance wrong I've been at my job for over 20 years and we don't do updates till October and I had a dentist appointment in September with no issues. They wrote down wrong information I gave them and wrong numbers yet I called my insurance company and just put in the correct information and BAM I have insurance. Called them back and gave them a number and OMG I now have insurance. When they get you in there they take your blood pressure knowing your blood pressure is going to be high after they just lied to you and get treated like crap from the front desk. Then just to numb your mouth they refuse to do work because they already make you upset and your blood pressure is high. The front desk from the get go I was treated cold and then when another client came in she was pleasant and very warm towards him. They belittle you when you explain your stand on how you were treated. read more
