I'm very happy with Aussie Roofing. When I set out to solicit bids for a new roof, I had a devil of a time getting roofers to come out for an estimate. Aussie Roofing sent their estimator, Hefer, who arrived exactly on time, immediately got up on the roof, and gave me an estimate within two days. When I had some questions about the contract, the owner, Orlando, sent Hefer out again to spend an hour with my wife and me. We agreed on a start by date, and an end by date. And that's exactly what happened! They said 6-7 days for the job, and they finished on day 7. I was particularly happy with the care they took with my house and my plants. They arrived on time every morning, covered the affected plants, carefully lowered all the old shingles and debris from my roof, and set about giving me a new one. They cleaned up every day they were here, removing the covers from the plants, and sweeping up. The crew on my roof was headed by Arely, an older guy with decades of experience. His crew of 5 included two sons (Hefer and Isaac), a nephew (Gilder), and a friend (Marco), and all of them had been doing this work for a long time. Aussie Roofing has a lot of experience , and it was nice to watch them work. Orlando is the owner. He is a charming guy and you will spend a pleasant half hour with him going over contract details, etc. And it's clear that he trusted his crew implicitly. So did I. Aussie Roofing is a great company. They know what they are doing, and their work is tight, clean and professional. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new roof of any kind. We bought our house in 2008 knowing it needed a roof. We unfortunately chose McLeran, who never supported their work or warranty, which ultimately led us to Aussie, who helped us get what few remaining years we could out of the drippy nightmare McLeran gave us. Finally this year we had to call time on the patchwork and get the roof done again. Aussie was the only roofer we considered. Not only did they do it right, they worked with our solar provider to install our stanchions, and with the last week of horrible weather, I'm happy to report it's the first time since we owned the house that the roof has no leaks, and according to the previous owner, it's the first time since the early 80s the chimney has not leaked. I can't recommend Aussie more highly. read more

We have a double-A-frame Eichler. Less than 10 years ago, Aussie Roofing put modified bitumen over enhanced insulation on the flat part and asphalt shingles on the peak. The first thing that happened was we started getting water entering from around a skylight, I think because they raised the level of the roof and gave it a slight pitch, which made water in windy, wet weather wash into it. They came out a couple times with no real success until I had a skylight company box in the skylight and raise it. Then I started to have to repaint the fascia. They put flashing without a real drip edge over the roof sheeting, so water would wash up under the flashing and soak into the fascia. Eventually Orlando came out and looked at it when we were out of the country. If I understood his proposal, he could tar in the flashing for nothing, or else he could redo it the way it should have been done for a couple thousand dollars. I put some flashing tape over it and tarred in the flashing myself. Each time to get them out it is like pulling teeth. I call and talk to madame for a half hour to explain the problem, she says she will have Orlando call me, but he doesn't, so I repeat the the process after another couple of weeks. We had some ventilator fans installed in our bathrooms which needed to be boxed into the roof and covered with torched-down roofing. I started the process again with them. Although madame said they were very busy, she would have Orlando call me. Must have been about 3 conversations over more than a month with no result. I called another roofer. Now with the rain and weather we have a leak in the pitched-roof section. It may be covered by the guarantee - I don't know. I don't have the patience to deal with them anymore. A retained Aussie Roofing in August of 2010 with three core objectives: 1) Reduce the heat loss from a dual-layer of tar & gravel 2) Leaks around skylights 3) Gutters needed to avoid the "waterfall effect" of rainwater The contract was 40% higher than the next best bid, agreed to only under the condition that : 1) The employees would be licensed, insured, tax-paying rather than young immigrants, illegal without Green card, and English-speaking -violated in work; Company had not paid the State for the required Workers Comp Insurance nor had it renewed it's license with the Contractor's Licensing Bd 2) Experience w/ Skylights and insulation -the owner represented he would be ordering "Custom Skylights" and a "guaranteed insulation with 3 1/2" fixed insulation vs the Foam Insulation I was contemplating, at half the cost of this job. He further represented he had deep experience with both, yet installed off-the-shelf, not custom skylights that leak 9 months later. The insulation was improperly installed and provides zero benefit. 3) Gutters -the owner represented he had a novel guttering solution and it turns out they are no gutters at all, but are "dutch gutters," meaning a cavirty at the roof line that, in theory directs rainwater to the downspouts. They do not work. The roof was scope changed multiple times, twice out of three times, without my signed authorization and the owner was so aggressive in pursuit of payments, to "assure the materials were paid for in advance, since he "needed the work," that he not only did NOT pay the materials providers, ABC Supply Company, who placed a Mechanics Lien on my home, damaging my excellent credit, due to his non-payment for the materials he used, from the outset. Bottomline, the owner of Aussie Roofing, Orlando Guasatella, is mendacious (does not tell the truth); engages in deceptive "bait 'n switch" practices; does not supervise his employess, who do not pay taxes and are not provided with basic Workers Comp nor any form of insurance, as I discovered in speaking with his so-called "Foreman," the only person who spoke any form of english. I would not recommend using this Roofer, under any circumstances. read more

When i was getting bids for my foam roof recoating I asked if they would include opening up the drains on the side of the roof. Aussie was the only company that included the cost without changing the price of the bid. They not only opened up the drains but installed new sheet metal and leveled out the area in front of the drain thereby greatly improving the drainage of the roof. Workers were very skilled and professional at my home. Clean up was done every day and at the end of the job. Orlando was very easy to contact during construction. Very happy with the work and I will use them again. read more

We have Aussie roofing installed our gutter 5 years ago, they came out did the estimate and then when they install it, they said the estimate is too short and I must pay additional money otherwise they would just leave without finishing it. So I paid additional money (about 10% more than its original) and it supposedly good for 30 years. It starts to leak in the second year and when I called them they said they would come out and would charge $100 to inspect it! I did not have them come out because they said their workman ship only warranted 1 year! Now it is leaking everywhere two gutter joined together. I had a repair man came over to give me an estimate. He found that not only the joints are leaking but also one of down sprout they put on did not attach to the gutter it is hanging there did nothing for last 5 years! it may look good for just one year, when they get away with their so called warranty. I have really bad experience with this company! Be careful with their workmanship! read more

This is late in coming.. but here goes! They gave me a time and materials estimate and a 'Not To exceed' amount that was at least 50% over their estimate. They sent in twice the number of people they said on the estimate, claimed they spent twice the time and charged me for the 'Not to exceed' amount. I was there the whole time the job was being performed - half of the workers were sitting around joking while the other half worked. Orlando also refused to give me a bill for the materials, skylight was of very cheap quality, maybe costing around a fourth of what they claimed. The killer was Orlando kept insisting that I got the better end of the deal since they spent so much time on the job but were obligated to stick to the 'Not to exceed' amount! I talked to a friend who I found used them in the past - same thing, she paid the 'Not to exceed' amount. read more

After an evaluation of my leaking roof I waited for an estimate. I was told that I would be called that night but by the next day at 3:45 pm I still hadn't heard from anyone. Speaking with the lady on the phone (who was very nice) I was told I would be called again that next night. I then had to pursue the company to find out when someone would actually be calling me after no one did. No one responded to my request after 3 phone calls. I cannot recommend any company that doesn't respect or follow up with a potential customer when told to me they would do so. Without communication, what's the point? read more

I finally decided to i deserved a new roof.i had 4 contracters come out to look at my roof. they all seemed like they would do i good job,but when Aussie roofing came out there was a different story.his employee;s have been with him for over 20 yrs plus he had 2 son's who also worked for him,,,all my questions were answered and i was given many options and different ways to go. i had new gutters that were made right on the site ,insulation and gutter gaurds.......Roof sky Lights on in 7 days,and i couldn't be happier..the team of workers were great neat and hard working and very pleasant ,it was a 5 star experience and a 5 star Roof read more

We received 4 bids for needing roof work on our home. Orlando came out to meet with us. His bid was the second highest. We went with a bid that was about 1/2 of his bid. I phoned Orlando to tell him that we had selected someone else and he gave me a hard time about "You get what you pay for." Nevertheless, the company we'd selected did a fabulous job. Several weeks after the job was completed, Orlando phoned again and criticized our selecting another company and again, "You get what you pay for." This was totally unprofessional and uncalled-for. Be very careful whom you select. I have no idea about the quality of his work, but his price was very high and he really lacked professionalism and courtesy. AND, he's not Australian! read more

We live on a ridge in Mill Valley, facing directly out towards the Pacific Ocean, and get the occasional hurricane force gust during heavy winter storms. A regular composition shingle roof doesn't last very long, as a consequence. We needed something more durable; able to withstand the extreme winds. Aussie Roofing had the answer. A 'standing seam' metal roof, which they are expert in installing. They've had well over 25 years experience with metal roofs and it was difficult to find anyone else in Marin County with comparable expertise and experience. They recently completed the job and it is quite excellent. Their crew was extremely competent, always on time, and work quite conscientiously every day. They actually seemed to enjoy working, even in inclement weather, and took obvious pride in the quality of their workmanship. (Every panel of steel roofing had to be custom measured and cut to fit the specific location). Although I've seen a couple of negative reviews, I requested and received from Aussie a number of written positive reviews from former customers all over Marin County, and was satisfied that they were competent and professional. Fortunately my expectations were more than met. I would unhesitatingly recommend them for both standard composition shingle roofing as well as more sophisticated metal roofing jobs. read more

This company is amazing!!When we moved into our home over thirty years ago, we called in a company that came out and did a questionable job,as we had to have it redone 6 years later. That's when we first met the great folks at Aussie roofing. They did such a great job, that now ,twenty five years later, we had them back for a new roof!We simply didn't even consider anyone else because of the quality of their work the first time.When they came in to get started, some of the same crew members were still with them , and they had their sons with them now!I think that says a lot about a company, when they can keep the same employees for so long! They did an excellent job estimating, so no bad surprises there! But the real tell was in the finished product. The details!!!There was so much rotten wood as they repaired all 6 roofs on my property;they not only fixed all that you could see, but things that didn't show.They replaced my old skylights with UV protected ones that have the most wonderful golden light, taking away my fear that they would be too dark.They work with you every step of the way and ,again, THE DETAIL WORK!!!!Simply cannot say enough about the positive experience with this company, from the office staff, to the workers and of course Orlando himself!! read more

The two complaints I've read here seem to be written about some bizarro-world opposite of the Aussie Roofing and Orlando Guastella that my wife and I experienced. Note: I'm not a friend or family member; just a customer. And I was a pretty demanding customer at times. But Orlando and his company were always fast, responsive, professional and honest. What was promised was done, including all the little extras we needed. The price was entirely reasonable. It wasn't the very lowest estimate we got but I saw reasons not to accept the lowest ones. We've been through a winter since the installation and are very happy with our roof. The one glitch that came up after the roof was finished got addressed very quickly and all problems were solved. No negatives to report here and I will happily call Aussie Roofing next time. read more

We had excellent preparation and installation of a new composite roof, gutters, and downspouts by Aussie Roofing. They also removed old attic vents and installed ridge vents on our 3 ridges. They coordinated well with the painters who painted the exterior of our house around the same time. We get lots of positive comments from neighbors and contractors.
