It took the crew merely 2 days strip the roof down and install the new roofs with ridges and skylights. My house was not a small project either: two stories with skylights, and solar panels (not replaced) which had to be torn off. The roof turned out decent, and I had no leaks but the quality is lacking and professionalism is horrible. They only care about rushing through the job and not worry about quality control. Kurt was pleasant at first but demanded I pay them before they leave. Don't do this! Make sure to inspect the work or they will never come back to fix the work. My gutters were installed level and had no incline to them to let the water run off. I called them to fix this and even got a hold of the owner, needless to say after months of trying they never came. If you like quality and professionalism go with Wedge. Avoid these guys or be like me with water standing in my gutters and half painted plywood underneath. read more

On the suggestion of a friend, I hired this company to install a new roof and gutters. The roof is fine and I am grateful for it, especially with our major rainstorms recently. However, I was greatly upset with the tactics of the owner who told me the "full" price included things that later turned out to be "extras." This resulted in an increase of the price to over $12-14,000! I had asked specifically when shown the contract about what was included and told verbally that what later turned out to be "extras" were included in the original price. I was told there would be a delay in starting the work - which I understood - but no call was made to tell me when the work would start so I was quite surprised when the doorbell rang at 7:25 am one day with a worker telling me they were about to start ripping off the old roof. Most definitely, poor communication on their part. When the job was done, I had to call the company and ask them to come back and clean up - there was grit, dirt, nails, pieces of wood in my garage and my yard with grit and roofing particles in my family room and on my dining room table. Although some of this could be expected, no one checked with me to see inside the house and they certainly did not automatically clean up my yard....front, sides and back. Upon calling for myself and my neighbor (who notified me of the mess in his yard), the company did send out workers to clean up the mess they should have done before leaving in the first place. So, though I am quite pleased with the looks and functionality of my new roof (hence the two stars), I could never recommend this company to anyone due to the duplicitous manner of the owner. read more

My wife and I bought our house last year, and understood through the disclosures that part of the roof needed to be fixed. We later discovered that in order for a roofing company to guarantee their work, they need to replace the entire thing. Eeeek! We had four roofing companies come out and take a look. Pat, from Northern Pacific, was the only one of them who actually got up on our roof to do a thorough inspection of roof condition, flashing, and any other repairs that may need to be made. He was also the most thorough in walking us through the various products. Northern Pacific is one of the only authorized dealers for Malarkey shingles, which have less granule wear, and are recyclable. The crew did a phenomenal job, and finished the entire job in two days! A friend recommended Northern Pacific Roofing because her roofing job had been so good and had been done so quickly, and our experience was the same and far beyond that. We have 2 solar systems, one for heating the pool and one to provide electricity. We contracted separately with the solar company to remove and replace the panels. Patrick of Northern Pacific was great at coordinating, and when they dropped the ball, he even sent his own workers to buy parts in another county. His crew noticed that a previous owner had used indoor-grade wiring when he installed our outdoor lights, and that this (Romex?) wire was disintegrating. He basically saved us from potential fire/electrocution. In the day-to-day work, the communication is great! They photograph what they are doing up there and share the photos every day. Update: My previous review was when I was working with a job foreman who is no longer with the business and the job was rushed and not up to par. The owner was out at the time (no fault of his) and thus didn't have the normal oversight that he would have had on the job. After being contacted by the owner we worked together to get my issues corrected as well as have some new work done which turned out very well and that I am very pleased with. As such I would consider working with them again in the future. read more

I had gotten quotes from a few different local roofers prior to contacting Northern Pacific Roofing, as my house is in Windsor and I believe they are based out of Marin. I was after the Certainteed product line, specifically, and none of them were certified through Certainteed for their 50-year manufacturer warranty. Through a Google search and some Yelp reviews I found NPR, which have gone through the process of being certified through not only Certainteed, but also GAF and Owens Corning. I thought to myself, "clearly if they go through the effort and expense of getting certified from all the top manufacturers, their work must be good". I called and left a message for Patrick, who called me back the next day and came out to take a look at my house. Within two days of calling I had the quote in my hand. Since they do a lot of work down in Marin and the Bay Area, coupled with the fact that they had the certs the other local roofers did not, I was expecting it to be quite a bit higher. However, upon reviewing the quote I found them to be comparable. They were a bit higher than all the others, specifically on the gutters, but Patrick and the owner were willing to make a concession to come a bit closer to the other bids in order to get the job. I booked a date a week later... The crew was professional and worked hard. There was hardly any banter, as they all knew exactly what needed to be done and you could tell they set deadlines and stuck to them. They found some dry rot and made sure to quote me before they replaced anything. Despite the dry rot repairs they still managed to complete the job on time. One of the gutter guys must have stepped in some caulking and got it all over my patio. Patrick had his guy come back out the next day to clean it all at no charge. The roof is beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Time will tell if it leaks (if we ever get another rainy winter) but I'd be surprised if it did. If it does, I'm sure NPR will be out to make it right in a timely fashion...plus, if any damage occurs Certainteed will cover the replacement costs due to the warranty and going through a certified roofer. This was the first time we hired a roofing contractor. Found Northern Pacific Roofing well regarded on various websites for different companies that produce asphalt roofing shingles. Patrick was helpful in the process of choosing the appropriate roof type and color to match the style of home. He forwarded references and completed roofs for us to review prior to finalizing our choice. During the three days of roof removal and replacement his workers showed professionalism and respect for our home; at the end of each day, the patio was swept, and all trash was bagged and placed out of view. As the final details of the roof were put in place the foreman reviewed weatherproofing specifics completed on skylights, chimney, and venting. Paid top dollar for a new shingle roof and this company let me down every step of the way. With inexperienced and incompetent workers, very low standards and an extremely rushed work schedule I got a poorly installed roof with many mistakes. It is sad a roofing contractor can get away with this because they are taking advantage of homeowners lack of knowledge or inability to inspect the job. I have paid for three new roofs in the last three years from three different companies. Northern Pacific Roofing was by far the worst. Please take my advice no matter which roofer you choose. What I appreciated the most was the visual model he brought along to explain the process of how the materials are placed on the roof. I hired him to do the job without bothering to call any other contractors. The crew showed up on time and boy did they get that job done fast! We spoke with several roofing companies but chose Northern Pacific as they were the most responsive, creative, thoughtful folks and were willing to help walk our HOA through the process as we evaluated our repair / replacement options. I love our new roof. We had Patrick do the bid, and his is awesome! He told us which tiles he would recommend and which quality of tiles he would recommend and then he made an extra trip to bring us samples of the tiles so we could make sure they were what we wanted. (by the way he recommended the thinnest (least expensive) tiles for our roof, because in our case it didn't make sense to go thicker.) He came out one day, and bid the next day. Barry was head supervisor on our roof. He asked the right questions and made sure that I was clear on what needed to be replaced above the quote. He was extremely good at communicating with me. The workers were excellent! No one enjoys having a crew of people pounding on ones roof, but they were fast, organized, friendly, and extremely clean. They were here four days (I have a very steep Tudor roof and I had them waterproof etc 45 solar stanchions and fix a dormer etc), every night they cleaned up completely. I didn't get quotes from other roofers because I was so impressed with Patrick, so I don't know whether they were cheaper or more expensive than others. But I do know that they do excellent quality work, and in roofing this is very important. We had just spent the last 9 years calling out various roofers to fix what was supposed to be a 30 year roof, this won't be a problem with Northern Pacific Roofing. read more

These folks just completed a new roof on my 4000 ft.² house. Working with them was a pleasure. Their crews began at 730 sharp and stay till 530; once till 730 when it looked like rain. The roof is beautiful. The work was done on time and on budget. I have frankly never worked with a construction crew that was so clearly pleased to be working for this company and who had so much fun cleaning up at the end of each day. The bid was reasonable, not cheap but the quality was superb. I will probably not need them again since there is a 50 year warranty on this roof but I would recommend them as highly as possible to anyone who wants a fine, professional job. Being one of I am sure hundreds of homeowners trying to get roofs replaced this 'El Nino' winter, I was amazed at how easy it was working with Northern Pacific Roofing. Once Mark Demushkin and I met, reviewed my project, options available and discussed exactly what was being done, it became seamless to me. I live in an HOA and they were already well aware of the stipulations needed, having worked on many homes in the area. Mark suggested many options that would make my roof last longer and be more efficient in cooling the home (adding venting) which makes me happy. No other companies did this. Not only did they respond right away, they really helped me understand the options available for a new roof, what I was paying for and why I was paying for it. I got 3 estimates and although theirs was not the lowest I felt I would get the most for my money using Northern Pacific. The team on site during the roofing installation was so polite and clean. They picked up and even fixed a couple of things for me. I liked them so much I recommended them to my neighbor down the street who also had the same experience as I did. Frankly, they were the highest quote I got, but the level of professionalism and knowledge that Mark brought to the project was invaluable. I actually hired Northern Pacific Roofing because of Mark. There are many elements that go into replacing your roof. When the shingles come off is when you start to find out the real condition of your roof. And having someone who is a veteran in construction, as well as, roofing, really helps you weigh out your options. Also, Mark is super responsive and organized, so your project will go according to plan. But Mark's project management doesn't end when the roof is fully installed. He sees the project and paperwork through to the end. It seems to generally be an issue getting contractors to respond in a timely manner right now - I think everyone is pretty busy with the Marin real estate boom. We reached out to several companies for quotes and NPR had the best combination of pricing and communication. They did a great job, providing plenty of documentation (photos and explanation in laymen terms) when additional work was necessary and giving us multiple options at different price points.
