In July 2024 Austin Automotive replaced the starter in my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. $800+ In April 2025 I was experiencing intermittent starting problems so in May 2025 I returned to Austin Automotive so they could check it out. They couldn't find a problem with the starter and recommended a new battery. $77 I had the battery checked and was told by the Brunette Battery that the problem wasn't with the battery. I eventually took my vehicle to another repair shop and they discovered the ferrule connector on the ignition signal wire was loose. They replaced the ferrule and the issue disappeared. In December 2025 the starter stopped working. When the new shop checked it out they told me the nut securing the power line from the battery had been cross-threaded and had worked loose causing short circuits. They suggested this was the probable cause for the starter/solenoid failure. While I'm unhappy with the quality of work done on the starter replacement, I feel ripped off on the "diagnosis" service charge as it appears they didn't put the car on the hoist, to check the starter connections, only testing the electrical systems from above, (under the hood). read more

I made an appointment last Tuesday the evidence is on my phone the appointment was for today Monday October 26th at 2 p.m. left work early call for ride for pick up only to get there and mr. Arrogant said sorry no appointment I had the number on my phone I even phoned from my car to make sure that was the right number I brought my car in before and surely will be the very last time I come I would never give anybody with such an arrogant attitude my business nor should anybody else and then to be told even if we took your car I couldn't tell you that it would be ready for today seriously for an oil change and to put my snow tires on pathetic at best read more

This was my first-time auto repair experience with Austin Auto. BCAA towed my vehicle to the location after it stalled a few KMs away. I did an after-hours key drop-off and a note with a list of symptoms before the breakdown. The Service Manager followed up less than 24 hours later with a solution to the problem. I appreciated that it was a fix for what went wrong and not a long laundry list of other $$ repairs. The repairs were completed on time and within the quoted amount. When I had a less than new car, I would bring it here for the various repairs that it required. This family-run business is how all family-run businesses should run. They're friendly, personable and really try to make you happy. I found them to be very honest with every diagnosis of my car and their prices very reasonable. Not being a car guy, I did not feel the least bit intimidated by their explanations and they're happy to elaborate on anything you don't understand. I have dealt with Jordan for the last few years over a couple of vehicles. He's always honest, let's you know how much you are paying before hand and tries to save you money. For example one time I was going too fast down Mount Seymour and slid into a barrier. My car had severe wobbling everytime the tire rotated. My friends thought the axle must have been severely bent and I would've believed Jordan if he told me that. He informed me that it was just my rim that was bent to shit and my axle have some minor damage to it but it was nothing major. So basically he chose to be honest and only charge me for a used rim and some labour instead of replacing the whole axle which would've cost me hundreds if not over a thousand. I can tell you about the 5 other times I've dealt with him and his staff and every story is like this. read more

Dear Jordan Springman of Austin Automotive I am a recently(past year), a new customer who had come in due to a failed aircare and heard great reviews of your shop. At that time I chose you to inspect and diagnose my failure and it was determined effectively and at what seemed a reasonable cost of $745.90. (Catalytic converter and air filter) I felt I was treated fairly and thus had a great opinion of your shop and decided I would return for future service. I later (several months) had a concern of a belt squeak under the hood and remembered the service I had received and decided to call you again for the remedy which again I received good response and repair at a cost of $539.78.(Tensioner, pulley, belt etc) The only problem was I wasn't able to pay for my repair with a credit card over the phone as you said was against your policy according to the owner (your dad) so I had to get there during business hours to pay. Not the end of the world but a bit inconvenient for my schedule. moving right along. I just recently broke down and had my van towed to your shop with confidence. You solved the problem to which I was happy but here is where it gets complicated as I thought I was Your customer?? I was in negotiations with another party from out of town to purchase my vehicle. Now I had mentioned to him that you do not take payment by credit card by phone and that he should seek another shop to preform a mechanical inspection but I still wanted to offer you business, I recommended that he contact you about the van inspection. I understand you want to give the clearest picture of the condition of the vehicle to a potential buyer, but I assumed It would be on him to either come in to pay directly or face Finding another shop to inspect it (due to your policy). Now I am aware that he paid (though I don't know how) and you gave him a list all of the needed repairs. Here is where you could have shared some mechanical information of repairs I could have spent in your shop to improve my selling this vehicle safely. instead you shared with him information including pictures of rust preventing the sale, Rust which I was unaware of. So myself being your customer vs. a person living out of town and potentially never returning to your shop was put first. If you didn't feel my vehicle was road worthy or was in a serious state of disrepair you should have offered me the chance to repair it at your shop. I have never been made aware of needed repairs with exception to a recent harmonic balancer (based on a historic or common occurance). At this point with this situation, I'm willing to write you off as a shop for a total of $85.18 and never returning to your shop along with any other business I may have brought to you. I am very disappointed. I have been a previous career Service Writer in dealerships for 15 years and I am still disappointed to find that no one has offered me the same service and courtesy that I have offered my previous customers. Call backs /update during service experience etc I have since looked at other shops to perform my suspected repairs and hope in the future you realize the damage your shop has done to customer confidence. I'm not by any means a mechanic, but most of my life have done almost all of my own minor repairs and ALL of my own maintenance (fluids changes, brakes, exhaust etc.). For the last 3 years I've been living in a more urban setting and unfortunately lost all of the luxuries of a rural setting (a driveway, a garage, room for tools, a garden hose etc.). My Wife and I are sharing a 2000 Focus and have had to bring it somewhere to have minor wear and tear maintenance performed. (battery terminal corrosion, rear brake service, etc.) This as good of a mechanic/garage service I could have ever hoped to stumble across. They always take the time to explain everything that needs to be done as well as anything they see as a potential problem down the road. Friendly, courteous and non condescending the services are always done consistently in timely professional manner. I've never trusted any of the mechanics I've gone to earlier in my life, but this particular garage has exceeded all expectations. If you're in the area I'd personally recommend Austin Automotive and will continue to only bring any of my automotive problems to them. Thanks guys read more

I was looking for a reliable auto service shop in mid February and this one came to my attention as they are one of BBB members and located within reasonable distance from where I live. So I decided to try it out by letting them work on my vehicle with check engine light on. They told me after diagnosis that the faulty vacuum controller and solenoid needed to be replaced to solve the issue at a cost of $400, $200 labor plus parts. I agreed and let them do it hoping the light would be gone for good. Unfortunately the check engine light came back on just after several weeks, and when I stopped by the shop the owner told me to get the bill receipt so that they knew what had been done. The most funniest and weird part of what he said was that it would be easier and quicker for me to get the receipt from home than he got it from his file copies. What a crap! A totally waste of time and money. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone! read more
