Do not take your flat repairs here. They plug the tire. No reputable tire store does it that way. It's cheap and not considered quality repair at any tire store. The proper way to repair a flat is to take the tire off the rim, find the whole and patch it from behind, not to mickey mouse a plug in that will eventually leak or not last with heat and cold. They charge the same price as having a REAL tire store fix it properly and not just to plug it. read more

Posting for my wife: DONT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP. THEY WILL WRECK YOUR CAR, STEAL YOUR MONEY, & TAKE ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS. Bonus points if you're a uninformed woman they can take advantage of. They are unprofessional at best, & downright thieves at worst. I've been to Payless several times for regular oil changes. They've always seemed OK so when I needed a transmission flush and oil filter change done on my 2016 Dodge Caravan that I use as a work van, I figured I was safe in the hands of this shop. To abide by word count, here's how it went down: - Saturday, April 15 I went to Payless & I asked for a transmission flush & oil filter change. I paid $224. - Sunday morning there's a massive leak coming out from the bottom of my van. The engine light was on & the van was sluggish to drive. - As Payless is closed on Sundays, I took the van to a different mechanic to get it looked at - The mechanic I took it to was horrified by the job they did. Apparently: they didn't change my oil filter as I asked, didn't do a proper transmission flush, & they also incorrectly sealed the transmission oil pan causing a massive leak - The mechanic ended up sending me to a transmission shop, so they could repair the damages. - The 2nd mechanic confirmed the poor job that was done, & had to redo the entire transmission flush & filter change while also fixing the damage to the transmission pan. He told me to let Payless call them so he could inform them how badly they screwed up - My van has now been out of order for a week. What should've been a simple job costing $224 has turned into an ordeal that's costing me over $1000+. This doesnt include money I've lost not being able to work, money spent on a backup vehicle, nor does it account for the extreme emotional distress from this incident I emailed Gabriel a detailed account of what they did to my van. I attached pictures of the damage that was caused, & I kindly requested a refund of the $224. as I desperately need that money to go towards repairs. He ignored my email. After days of silence, I called Gabriel & this is how the conversation went: 1. I asked if he read my email earlier in the week, he denied seeing any email from me. I asked him to check his inbox, he became hostile & said "don't tell me what to do." 2. When I explained the situation to him he asked me why I didn't bring the van back into his shop. I told him it was because he was closed on Sunday & as it was a work van I needed it looked at immediately. He continued arguing this point in circles, completely ignoring the main issue which is that his employee did an abysmal job & rendered my car unusable. 3. When Gabriel got fed up with me, he put me on hold for 10 minutes & got his JUNIOR MECHANIC to come & "deal with me". Im appalled that this is how he conducts business. 4. Gabriel is refusing to refund the money his shop stole from me 5. After I refused to let this slide, Gabriel begrudgingly offered me a free oil change (not directly mind you, but again via his Jr Mechanic). I refused, why would I ever bring my van back to a place that wrecked it the first time and needed to be practically pushed into taking accountability? Also an oil change does not cost $224. Clearly Gabriel thinks his customers are stupid. If you need a mechanic, I recommend speaking to Pete at New Way Automotive. He's been nothing but professional & a godsend during this entire incident. He knows how to conduct a fair & honest business. If you need help with transmission, I recommend Pacific Driveline on Hastings. John is extremely kind & knowledgeable & he'll treat your transmission well, rather than this shop. I don't enjoy leaving a negative review on a small business. I am willing to amend my review if the proper outcome is achieved. read more

I bought four used tires last week and those we spoke with at the shop and who put the tires on were excellent. Unfortunately after leaving Vancouver to move across Canada the car was shaking badly so we stopped in Kamloops at a mechanic who saw the large lump on the tire, that it is separating and said the tire is not safe to drive on. We put on our spare and called Pay Less Tire to inquire about the warranty. I spoke with Gabriel who is the owner (if I heard correctly). He told me there was nothing they could refund if we were unable to bring the tire back and suggested we could ship it. We were not informed beforehand that the warranty only covers a replacement, not any money back. I would not recommend purchasing tires here, especially if you are not living in the area. (Not to mention we dismissed the shaking from the get go so it's likely it was likely put on in that condition.) I feel disappointed to have spent the hundreds of dollars I did at Payless Tire. As someone who is easy to please when it comes to customer service, this was the most inflexible, least helpful experience I've had in a long time. As a Vancouver West Side resident I can say that I will never go elsewhere. The drive to Payless is worth it every time. I have, in the past, received false information from major tire chains but these guys are honest and courteous. Always straight shooters and I get prompt, professional service. I get most of my car issues done here. The only thing I do on my own is filling the gas tank. Number 1...these guys are the best! read more

I called and requested the cost of a flat repair and was quoted $25. I dropped the tire off and I advised that it wasn't a simple nail or anything plugable. When picking up the tire I was advised it was a dirty bead and they had to clean the the bead section of the wheel and then apply a special sealing solution and the cost was now $30. Two days later the tire is flat so I take it back and very quickly they advise the tire valve was bad and they could replace for $25. So now I have paid over $58 for a flat repair on a tire near the end of its life. I question if the tire bead was really the initial problem or they just picked what they thought was the issue. If they were truly competent they would have checked the valve stem as part of the issue resolution process. Stay away if you have anything more complex than a simple repair. read more

The guys at payless tires are Honest, fast, and reliable. I needed 1 tire to replace a flat. They sold me 2 because they only had a slightly bigger size at the moment. Total was 120 with install. I really did pay less. read more

Likely a very good tire shop from what I read. However, I paid $100.00 for a wheel alignment that shouldn't of been done at time due to what should of been, IMO, and in my professional mechanics opinion, noticeable problems in the steering column, a severely damaged tye rod, and a bulge in one front tire. My professionally licenced mechanic who has and is still working for a Vancouver major dealership for over 30 years in Vancouver explained to me why I just threw $100.00 away. Importantly, I don't take my car to his dealership, rather he has always worked on my cars privately and very inexpensively with the highest quality of workmanship, honesty, and integrity. Sadly, he mentioned that the wheel alignment should have never been done until the appropriate repairs were made. In his opinion, he was more than surprised / shocked, and critical that this shop didn't notice the existing damage. After the following necessary repairs were made by my mechanic, I returned to Payless and requested a replacement alignment and showed them the parts that were replaced as well as notifying them that I had the tire replaced which supposedly had a glaring noticeably bulge. IMO, Payless were unresponsive, blaming. and wanted to me pay another $100.00 for a new alignment. Anyway, they lost my business forever, and I will never return to even by tires. Buyer Beware! Don't waste your time. You can find other tire shops with similar prices for installation&balancing. In this shop they do sloppy job and don't want to take responsibility for the quality of the work. When replacing old tires they're supposed to replace valve stems to avoid air leaks. Turns out they cut cost and don't do that. I ended up with 2 flat tires and 3rd slow leak after couple of weeks of installing 4 brand new tires. The owner Gabriel told me that it wasn't "big deal" and that they charge $10 for a valve stem. read more

Dang these guys are good. I had an emergency tire replacement I needed to get done as it was the only time of the week I had to get it done and I needed the car right away. Car is also super old and probably won't last 3 years, so why spend hundreds of dollars on new tires? Looked online, and this place had great reviews, so I took a shot. Showed up, he took me around back, showed me the tires and we settled on a set of nokians. Picked them and had them installed in 20min. I was in an out super fast and the service was great! Tires are still great and are a much nicer drive and with the 2 year warranty they give out, I feel more than safe driving with them. Great place to get tires! read more
