I hate flea markets but had to check if any stolen goods were being sold here. The experience turned out to be fun. Cons: - There was a lot of trash generated from shoppers eating/drinking from the food booths. However, there were no recycling bins found next to the trash cans. All the aluminum Modelo cans won't be recycled. - Some vendors won't allow you to take photos of their goods (which seemed kind of overprotective and dodgy to me) - The dirt and asphalt ground was very uneven. Bringing a stroller here is ok but I wouldn't bring your abuelo or abuelita who needs a cane to walk. When you're "outdoors," there are even some muddy/slippery patches of ground to hop over. - Located a little far out of town on the north side of Hwy 290 between Austin and the neighboring city of Manor. Pros: - Cheap prices. I found used nalgene bottles in good condition for only $1! New 32-oz Nalgene bottles cost $10 at REI so I saved quite a bit. - The whole market was very clean. You'll see lots of staff sweeping the floors. - There was a huge area with a stage where a good band was playing. I wish I had more time to hang out there. - It's a good cultural experience. We need more outdoor markets in the US. - You'll be able to find a huge variety of goods and services here. Need a generator? Need that random tool for your tractor? Need your car windows tinted? Need a mattress? Need I say more? Parking was $2. You should probably bring cash. I wasn't prepared and luckily managed to scrounge up $2 in my car. The parking lot is as informal and poorly-paved as the market. Driving a pickup truck would help.

THE GOODS: Kind of a mix between a flea market and a swap meet. A good assortment of both new and used just about everything: shoes, handbags, tons of bras???, power and hand tools, cowboy boots, refrigerators, horse gear, baseball caps, Catholic religious pieces (e.g., prints, rosaries), etc. Don't expect to find art any craft things or small business jerky, jam, or salsa for sale like you would at a "trade day." Also, I did not see one single antique even though this location is listed as "antique" business type on Yelp. Some items are overpriced; however, there are plenty of bargains and several great produce stands with nice prices. I bought a small clutch, some bling for my boots, a cap, some chile pepitos and left with a feeling of shopping contentment. FOOD & DRINK: This market is very Latino oriented. There are many food stalls offering yummies like $2 barbacoa de cabeza tacos (cow head meat; omg, so good!), elote (roasted corn on the cob; I was sad they didn't offer it in cup a cup), toasted pepitas, $2.50 Tecate or Modelo con limon (they have Bud too), $2 margaritas and so on. AND, I had the BEST turkey leg I've ever had in my life. Moist and hot with crispy skin, great flavor, and a station with all the condiments you could think of: lime juice spray, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, etc. I've been to a lot of Latin events and spent a good bit of time in Mexico and have never seen the approach to eating a turkey leg like I did here. People were dousing their legs with several or all of the items on the table at one time. So, I opted for the lime juice with some cayenne pepper and hot sauce. I learned a new culinary way to elevate my already fantastic turkey leg. When in Rome...gracias!!! Food and drink quite the bargain! With the $1 parking fee (cash only) and no entry cost, I would come here just to have a great foodie day and listen to the free live Tejano music to boot. Had a great time! NOTE: BRING CASH $$$ Or, ATM on-site.

Ahhhh flea markets. Smelly, crowded, live Tejano bands blaring music in a dirty "food court", unhealthy-yet-tasty food, fast-talking people trying to rip you off... its amazing. You can buy so much crap for so little its actually impressive. Screw thrift stores, garage sales, and Craigslist. A flea market is THE place to get that random something that you want for cheap. Its probably stolen, but untraceable (hopefully)! This flea market is HUGE. Stop at the entrance and get some roasted corn doused in butter, cheese, pepper, and salt to accompany you on the long journey. Its $1 to park your car. Sharpen you haggling skills before you go. A good technique is to show interest in an item, ask for the price, then say you'll be back. A while later, casually walk by. They'll be shouting out lower prices and "I remember you!" Of course, its cash only. Most places don't accept bills over $20.

Delicious elote w all the fixins, a cold Tecate and chicharrones (I ate half the elote before the pic, so good!)

The vendor service was excellent, the selection was low, the value of some things was good, but most were overpriced.

It's a joke. Dumpy, very few vendors, not worth any drive to get here. If there was a -1 star option that would be this.

Pretty much the same stuff everywhere. However, it is small and easily traversed in a limited amount of time.

What a cool 'hidden find' in the Leander area!…read more It's a bit of a misnomer to call this a 'flea market', but that's a minor point to quibble over. Rather, this is a collection of rather eclectic shops selling mostly used or refurbished items. These range from vintage glass and antique furniture all the way to collectible baseball cards. Everyone I spoke to at one of the stores was friendly and sometimes willing to negotiate a price on an item. I look askance at some of the reviews which claim 'I didn't get a deal'. You have access to the internet, after all. Even on your smart phone. You should be able to find out if the vintage item you're looking for hasn't been cheaply reproduced at Hobby Lobby, Cost Plus or Michael's. The facility still seems to be in development, so a couple notes for folks who may visit close to when I did, in September 2017. 1) The parking lot is a very rough gravel one. Drive slowly and walk carefully, there are ankle-turning rocks here if you wear heels. 2) One of the vendors was having serious issues taking credit cards, so having cash on hand might be a good idea. 3) If you check in on Yelp, there's a free drink offer available at the food trailer. However, there's no food trailer yet - just a well-run inside snack bar. They were kind enough to honor the offer for me, but do them a favor and wait until they get a vendor in before trying to use the coupon. In sum, a definite place to visit if the antique hunting bug strikes!

This is very much a live animal market with a ton of different goats and birds. Some of the birds are not for eating, but are being sold for pets. Some of the animals here looked well-cared for. Others looked absolutely miserable and I felt really sad for them. Some of the roosters were being sold for cockfighting, I am certain of that. Although I picked up a couple of dozen of magnificent eggs and a great bag of oranges, I don't think I could go back. There were some very nice nuts, fruits and veggies, interesting craft items, religious knick knacks, used electronics, tools and very used household goods. I love goats. I just could not get past the goats pressed up against one another, coats mangy and muddy. Although their lives are probably better than factory farmed cattle, I wanted to buy them all and keep them in my backyard as pets.

But at mid-afternoon, there were only a handful of vendors - most probably were taking care of their own shopping instead of setting up shop. It felt like a weird trip. If this market is ever fully occupied, it would be quite bustling and full of local flavor. Even on my aberrant visit, I saw a lot of live sheep and goat for sale. If you've ever wanted to buy a live goat, this place might be worth checking out. They've got Boer (meat) and Nubian (dairy) goats. Adults weighing about 175 pounds were quoted to me for $200, while a kid of about 60 pounds went for $100. One of the sellers offered to butcher anything I bought for $25 - his English was limited, so I'm not sure what services would be included. There were also some chickens and other birds. A boot vendor, a fruit guy, and the usual crap vendors. Too bad the food trailers were not in operation. No admission fee and free parking, so it might be worth a visit if you're in the hood. Booth rentals seem to be around $20 for 1 day and $30 for the weekend.
