Raise your hand if you like root canal procedures. I thought so. If you do find yourself needing a root canal Austin Endo is the practice to go to. My early morning appointments (2) were on time and the staff was very welcoming and professional. Being able to access and complete all the medical forms online before my Appt was a big plus. This was a tricky procedure as they had to drill through an exiting cap. Doctor Doughty explained the process and the risk of the cap breaking. It did not, thankfully. I was kept comfortably numb throughout the procedures and to be honest, the only pain was the minor pinch of the novocaine needles. I expected to experience some discomfort today (2nd Appt) but after the novocaine wore off there was zero discomfort. An easy 5-star review! read more

A visit to the dentist seems to evoke fear in most people and gain a sympathetic response from friends. Telling folks you're going to an endodontist will garner still more sympathy. Anticipation of any dental procedure brings with it the fear of pain. I certainly felt that way before my experience with Dr. Galian at Austin Endodontics. A week ago today he began my root canal treatment, completing it today. The procedure itself was virtually pain free with the local anesthesia given each time, and even afterwards I was fine with OTC NSAIDs both days. My only gripe with Austin Endodontics is that I spent time waiting as Dr. Gallian was apparently treating another patient in an adjacent room during my second visit. Dr. Gallian is meticulous, skilled, and detail-oriented, necessities in a place that works on a small scale. It was fun learning that he went to a small college in a town in upstate NY where I lived for 4 years. A special shout out to Raven, who was very comforting prior to and during the first treatment. The lobby at Austin Endodontics is neat and clean, and I was taken in pretty quickly each visit. The procedure rooms are clean and well equipped, and there is a TV in each to serve as a distraction and while waiting. Austin Endodontics is filled with friendly employees who are kind and considerate. I really appreciated everyone's pleasant demeanor. If I ever again need endodontic work, I will insist on being sent to this office. read more

In late October I was experiencing some tooth discomfort and booked a morning appt with my dentist at Rose Dental on a day off from work. After an x-ray was told I most likely would need a root canal and was referred to Austin Endodontics. I called that same afternoon and they were able to get me in that day! The front desk personnel were courteous and professional. They explained what would happen depending on what the Doctor found out during my exam. They were also helpful with the paperwork, which was actually all done on a provided tablet due to Covid. The office and exam areas were clean and procedures were followed to a T. Dr. Ganne was wonderful. After the exam she let me know my options and the specific details. She encouraged me to ask questions. Lucky for me she was able to get me started that day, which involved removing the bad stuff from the tooth, cleaning the area and prepping it for final root canal 2 weeks later. during the 2 weeks I only minor discomfort for a few days. The antibiotics and pain relief prescribed did the trick. My follow-up visit was quick, easy and actually painless. Sure it was uncomfortable but Dr. Ganne and her assistant were caring and made sure I was taken care of. No one wants a root canal, but if I had to do it again I will seek out Dr. Ganne and Austin Endodontics as well as recommend them to family and friends if needed. It's been almost 2 months since the procedure was done and all is well. I actually can't tell anything was done as my bite and mouth feel are better than when I went in. read more

Wow! Best experience I've ever had. Dr. Erik J. Galian is hands-down one of the best. Caring, compassionate, skilled....I felt in good hands from the moment I met him. And his assistant was also one of the nicest people I've ever met. I've read some of the other negative reviews here and I can't believe they are for the same location. Yes, it is expensive to go to an Endodontist (hope I spelled that right), but honestly I don't think you could go anywhere else and get the same level of care I experienced here. Ignore those negative reviews and consider them a one time fluke in my humble opinion. In general, I am apprehensive about ALL dentists, so I was amazed that I did not feel that way at this facility. I'm writing this review about 4 years after having a root canal at Austin Endodontics. I recently moved out of state and had to make a trip to a new endodontist due to a possible abscess by the tooth that Austin Endo did the root canal on. After looking at the x-ray and 3D image of the tooth, the endodontist here raved about how well that particular root canal was done (furthest back molar-31, root is a little curvy). I asked about my other root canal tooth that was done by a different office many years ago and he said that one is good, but this one done by Austin Endo is the one he would be proud to say he did -if it was his work. I don't know much about root canals, except I want it over as quick as possible, but he seemed to be impressed with the work, so I'm here writing a review. As far as the visit, if I recall correctly, it was a female so it must have been Dr. Ganne. I recall it being fairly quick, calm, and as painless as possible. read more

Not friendly at all and the lady at the front is really rude. I made a huge mistake by taking my kid for root canal and it was a horrible experience. My kid was in pain even after the work was done. I had to find another DR to fix the problem which cost so much pain and money. What really upset me is no one cares at this practice as long as they get paid. read more

From the online pre-registration to the communication during the appointment and even the actual procedure. Felt almost nothing during the process, and they explained what to expect afterwards and gave me a plan to attack the post-procedure pain and discomfort. Where do I start. ... Extremely disappointed with my overall experience. My root canal was done terribly DR.Erik j. Galian did a terrible job it seemed that the DR. Was new at this. I was in so much pain during the procedure and for a long time after. During the procedure i mentioned to the DR that I was feeling a lot of pain and the work being done but I was told it was normal? I was in such excruciating pain for a long time after it really was uncomfortable and painful. I did call the office to let them know but the lady was rude and had no empathy. Cannot say enough good things about this practice! Getting a root canal is not something anyone looks forward to; however, this was as gentle and efficient as one could imagine. Dr. Doughty was friendly, informative, and respectful. Hygienists Crystal and Vicky were understanding and considerate. Every office team member was friendly and helpful. Even called to check on me a day later. A very well-run practice. And they are in network with Delta Dental insurance -- which makes this an affordable option. I'll get to the point. $120 for nitrous?!? Ridiculous. The going rate is $30. I was shocked after the procedure and was never told it would be that expensive, especially after paying $1100 for a root canal. Dr. Deepika Ganne was very professional and did good work, but she was very clinical. So, no complaints on the results of the procedure. It's just a style thing for me. She was too fast and too busy multitasking between patients, so she made me more nervous about a very invasive procedure. My constructive criticism. I would advise her to call people by their name instead of "Sir," try to spend more time with each patient instead of bouncing back and forth, and to slow it down by 30%. read more

I had two root canals over the course of a year. the first one i had at my dentist and the second at austin endo. i have to say austin endo did a great job - and it did cost more than at the dentist's office but it was well worth it. yeah they are not that friendly here - maybe very cold - but they are efficient and you won't even notice you had a root canal days later... isn't that the point of going to a specialist? why do we have to be friends with the dental assitants or doctors - are we that superficial? read more

Needed a root canal and my dentist referred me to Dr. Ganne. Upon inspection I needed two root canals. Fun Fun Fun! Dr. Ganne completed the frist one quickly and efficiently with very little discomfort. Don't get me wrong - root canals aren't fun but this one was tolerable. Dr Michael Doughty is the specialist you want if you are unfortunate enough to need a root canal. I was sent to him from my south Austin dentist. Naturally I wasn't crazy about going but had the sense to know I didn't have a choice. I am so very glad I was under Dr Daughty's care. I never had any pain whatsoever from the procedure (except a sore jaw from holding my mouth open so long). He and his staff (including Crystal his assistant) are welcoming and very competent and caring. I've seen Dr. Ganne twice and she does excellent work. I'm very nervous about going to the dentist and a root canal is at the super nervous end of the scale. First, let's start with Dr. Doughty and his bad bedside manner. I've worked with doctors like him and can understand if his staff has a high turnover. I can hear him being gruff with whomever is assisting him in procedures. Unfortunately, this gruffness extends to patients who seem more of an inconvenience rather than a concern. Also, I am partially to blame for this one-star as I am a creature of habit and should've gone elsewhere sooner. One root canal had to be repeated. Dr. Doughty was gracious not to charge me out of pocket for the second procedure but did charge my insurance. However, this depletes my allowable for the year, and since I had ongoing issues this did ultimately cost me more out of pocket than should have been the case. Despite my complaints of an upper tooth needing to be done, he insisted my issue was coming from the lower tooth (right under the lower) and when the lower root canal was completed and my pain not resolved (because my upper tooth was ignored) he seemed reluctant to do a procedure on it and stated he'd wait until I couldn't "stand another day of pain." Since then, I 've moved onto another endodontist and he had no issue with confirming my upper tooth was the issue and with scheduling a root canal for that tooth. And, since my insurance had be dwindled, I owed a nominal fee out of pocket as the new endodontist seems to have more reasonable rates. Incidentally, it's been easier to get in for appointments as well. read more

Don't walk away from this business but run away. They cheat by telling lies that they have insurance approval. Then we get billed for insurance denying. Insurance says they should have gotten approval. But they haven't. Very unethical business practice. Run away from this business. read more

Let's be clear this review is definitely based on my actual experience at this lousy office. Our dentist Aviva Dental on cypress creek and lake line unfortunately referred my kid to this office with DR. Ganne for a root canal. ( feel free to speak to Aviva Dental) they are a ware of this. DR. Ganne did a horrible job with the root canal he definitely botched it. My kid has been in constant pain since it was not done correctly. As a matter of fact were now hav to go somewhere else to do the root canal all over again. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to remedy the situation including getting Aviva Dental involved but it was all about the money even though you over billed us for the work you said you did. In fact they went out of the way to harass us instead of owning the mistake they made and fix it. Based on my experience and the way the so called office manager handled this absolutely leads me to believe they lack dignity and integrity. I also tried very hard to avoid contacting the state medical board but they refused to address the problem and get it fixed so you didn't leave me a choice.I've tried to work with you but obviously no interest on there part. I encourage you to do the right thing and fix the issue ... it's not too late to do the right thing. read more

Dr. Michael Doughty and his assistant (I forgot her name) were great! I've had a root canal before and my experience was never this pleasant. The worst part was the initial sting of the injection to deaden the area after that time flew and I was in and out and on with my life. Referred here by my regular dentist (Dr Renwick, she's great!) to see Dr. Deepika Ganne. She was assisted by Veronica (iirc). They were both extremely kind and gentle, even hunting for extra bedding to prop up my legs and prevent back pain. They thoroughly explained everything before every step of the procedure and had a great bedside manner and their prices are very reasonable. They were both also very attentive to my body language and had good instincts on when to pull away or push through, while giving me realistic expectations. (IE, when she said "just one more moment," it really was just one more moment.) Dr Ganne has a light touch with the tools and it's obvious their primary concern is patient care. I wouldn't say a root canal is FUN, but they made it as easy as possible, and I greatly appreciate that. read more

Went in for a root canal about a year ago....From the moment I walked in the door I was NOT treated in a friendly manner. The receptionists were indifferent (but most are so I wasn't too concerned). Then the dentists assistant.... lord where do I start on her. It wasn't really anything she said, it was more her attitude. She wasn't friendly. She made me feel like I was an inconvenience. She was watching a movie on Lifetime on the patient Tv and barely said a word to me. I told her and the dentist that I was a little nervous and uncomfortable about the procedure. They did nothing to reassure me or comfort me in any way. Basically they ignored me. Again, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them just by being there. I asked if they had nitrous oxide, and they were about to set it up when the assistant literally rolled her eyes and said my insurance didn't cover it and it would be 120 DOLLARS. Huh??? I told them forget it. I wanted to cry at that point. I almost felt like getting up out of the chair right then and walking out. I have to say the root canal itself was pretty painless and quick (not sure if that's a good thing either but whatever). But again, they never once asked how I was doing during the procedure and the assistant seemed more interested in her Lifetime movie than with helping the doctor. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Horrible experience! My 17 year old daughter was referred to Austin Endodontics when she had a toothache & a root canal was recommended. Dr. Ganne was so busy going between patients, she didn't take the time to make sure my daughter was completely numb. When my daughter stopped her due to the pain, she gave her another injection and continued working without allow the meds time to do their job. When she was stopped again, she told my daughter there was nothing else she could do! We will NEVER return to Austin Endodontists or Dr. Ganne again and you shouldn't either. I visited Austin Endodontics to get a root canal done and I was glad they could get me in very quickly. The staff was very courteous and friendly. I was taking painkillers for more a month before saw Dr. Ganne. She performed the root canal very professionally and the whole procedure was fairly pain free. She explained the procedure very clearly and made me feel at ease. I went back after a week to get the tooth cleaned and filled. My dentist, Dr. Haase, who is an extreme perfectionist, looked at Dr. Ganne's work and was extremely pleased with the root canal. He was going on and on about how clean it looks and how difficult that particular tooth was for a root canal. Came here to get a root canal done on one of my molars. The root canal itself was done well, however, they were not prepared for an emergency (which I had). I ended up having a severe allergic reaction to the injections they gave me. It then took them forever to locate any medicine to counter my reaction. I ended up in the ER getting medicines through an IV and hooked up to a breathing treatment. I was told at the hospital it was anaphylaxis- I could have died because they were not prepared. read more

I am very surprised by some of these reviews, I had an excellent experience here. All the staff, even front office staff, were friendly and welcoming. The check in process was routine but no issues. The office was nice and clean. I saw Dr. Doughty and he was wonderful. I could tell he was multitasking between patient but that never made me feel uncomfortable and he made me feel at ease. I was referred by my dentist for a retreat on an old root canal. Dr. Doughty did all that he could and told me the tooth was not worth saving. He told me he would not proceed on a tooth that would need to be pulled out in a year. He explained to me why and said the tooth needs to come out as soon as possible. Dr. Doughty only charged me an exam fee when I could have been charged for all he did. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Doughty and would highly recommend him!!! read more

Dr Ganne, Is the best in class Endodontist. She saved a tooth that no one else could fix. Seven years ago, before moving to Austin, I had a root canal that didn't solve the problem. I had never had a root canal before but had heard so many horror stories about them so I was kind of freaking out about it. But it was absolutely the most pain free and pleasant experience.....easier then a cleaning. Dr. Ganne is GREAT! She was so pleasant, friendly and knowledgable. The assistants were so good about keeping me at ease and really were a huge source of comfort for me throughout. They obviously know what they are doing here and educated me on what was going to happen every step of the way. No pain/discomfort whatsoever. I would ONLY do a root canal with an endodontist (never a general dentist) b/c they can be so complex and in Austin, I would only do it with Dr. Ganne.
