Never been in a Habitat for humanity stores. Curious what they had. Maybe I'll find something maybe not. As I walked around. Everything is pretty organized. They have a little of everything, but mostly what I could see it was items for home improvements. Cabinets, counters, sinks, toilets, tubs, bed frames, paint cans, kitchen tables, entertainment stands. Loathed with doors, window, flooring, wood and tile. There's a lot in this store. Didn't se that big from the outside. But it's big inside and they pack a lot in. I wasn't coming here with any expectations. I just wanted to poke around and see what they weee about. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Received the worst customer service from Rob, the assistant manager.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Was sold a table for hundreds of dollars with missing parts. Only I didn't know it had missing parts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called in to the store to tell them, Rob cut me off and told me that the table never had missing parts, just missing screws, and they don't do refunds.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't want a refund, nor did I ask for one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Rob was oddly smug & disrespectful yet works in customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I let him laugh in my face before asking for corporate's number.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not a hint of attitude or sass on my part. I assume he was overacting because he knew he was wrong. And I guess today, I'm a Karen. Calling corporate now. For anyone who needs that number, it's 512-478-2165. this place has gonna seriously downhill the last few months. the prices are so jacked up its absolutely insane. they are getting just as greedy as goodwill at this point. i cant even believe my eyes on the prices on most of their items. you cannot charge retail price on these items when mostly everything in here NEEDS WORK to bring them back to life. i can go to home depot and lowes and buy brand new with a warranty for the same price. this place is full of junk and thats the point.. i want to come here to buy junk at junk prices and then make it my own. This is what this place has always been about... not buy junk at retail, then have to put in extra labor and money to install/renew the item. as i was walking around i could literally hear other people gawking and talking about how bad the prices are. one couple played a guessing game with each other and were also astonished when they would reveal the price. this is how bad it has gotten. i will maybe give this place one more chance in a month but honestly, id suggest everybody try elsewhere if youre looking for someplace affordable. im so incredibly dissapointed as i used to really vouch for and love this place. read more

It donations, mostly used, that is run by volunteers. Some reviewers seem to miss this point. Inspect purchases that have hardware as you may be missing a bolt or screw. That is why is 50-70% off new retail. read more

Most items are donated, extras or used, but the store also buys a lot of cheap new Chinese products to resell. All kinds of building materials: tile, flooring, lights, ceiling fans, doors, windows, toilets, electrical, paint, you name it. Lots of furniture: Desks, chairs, couches, even a working piano when I was there. I got a nearly new desk chair for $20, would be about $150 new. The household section is nearly as big as in a large thrift store. It's not well-organized, but it's cheap. At the South store, I got a huge box of hotel soap for like $5, that I'm still using, 8 years later. The clothes section is small but the prices are better than most thrifts. Shirts as low as $2. On Tuesdays, seniors (55+) get a 20% discount. read more

After building a house, we had a number of items that we didn't need and decided to bring them here instead of throwing them away. The guy that helped unload things out of the truck was pretty rude. There were a number of things that he said they couldn't take, which I totally understand but the way he said it was completely rude. This place survives off donations from people and my interactions really pushed me away from donating here again. There were also a couple items that he didn't take that I thought he was very overly picky about. There was a long wood board with a 2 inch crack on one end that he didn't take because of the small crack. read more

I wasn't greeted upon walking in. However, others were after me. I was specifically looking for a trash can. I looked around the whole store to find nothing. I seen that the sell furniture and couches. It was nice to see that. I asked someone about it and he snobbishly said that people normally don't donate trash cans. read more

My friend was shopping for a bathroom sink. All the choices were low-end. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a disappointing trip.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We tried to donate a complete set of wooden door trim but they wouldn't accept the short horizontal piece as it was less than 6' long. Very odd because now someone couldv potentially own a mismatched set. They accepted our audio equipment. The Yelp hours are incorrect as they close on Sunday at 6 PM, not 5 PM. read more

We've shopped here many times, and while you can't always find exactly what you need if you are shopping for something specific, sometimes you can at an amazing price. For example, we were able to switch out all of our gold-tone door knobs for oiled-bronze ones at a huge savings. They have a big selection of tubs, sinks, and toilets which we will be taking advantage of soon. And switch- and outlet-covers! A few things are definitely buyer beware: Rolled carpets can have stains that you can't see until you unroll them. And big shipments of things like hardwood flooring can have a lot of flawed pieces. It's impossible to check all the items in a big lot like that, so you need to be prepared for some waste. Also, you'll want to test tools and things with motors -- just in case. One thing I love that they sell is paint. They have their own line, donated partial-gallons, and -- my favorite -- Austin Resource Recovery buckets of mixed paint. We got a bucket of white(ish) for just a few dollars. It let us prime over a LOT of dark-painted walls. The staff are helpful and friendly. I don't necessarily get greeted every time I enter, but then again, I don't go shopping just to get greeted, ya know? One thing to note: they don't take returns, so resist impulse buying. read more

I volunteered at the Lakeline Habitat for Humanity store on my third day after working 45 minutes on the dock I went to go have a bottle of water. The manager approached me and told me that volunteers were no longer allowed to drink water and I was asked when was this implement goes today you are now drink from the sink in the bathroom located right directly next to the toilet pole And I said OK that's fine but it's 96° on the dock so I have to go drink from that toilet bathroom sink 10 minutes later [[HIGHLIGHT]]his employee approached me asked me to go get a box of wood screws. I asked what wood screw look like he seem frustrated with his answer is a box of screws.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I understand what a box looks like I do not know what the wood screw looks like and then he seemed more frustrated. It's a screw. Looks like a screw and I said yes, I know there are many different kinds of screws.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then he just seem frustrated and walked away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He came back two minutes later with wood screw he goes this is a wood screw and I went OK. Can you show me the source of where you got that wood screw so I can go get the rest of the box he just huffed and walked away[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]five minutes later they came back and sent me off on my way and told me they don't ever want me to come back again[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Habitat for Humanity I mean habitat is in the title humanity not so much. The website said they accept 50+ sf of hardwood flooring new in box, and I brought 80 sf new in box, but they wouldn't accept it, claiming a box had been opened, when it was only slightly ripped at the end, which is common for heavy flooring boxes. The South Austin ReStore was more than happy to take my full boxes, though, as well as matching flooring out of the box, so I recommend going there instead! read more

My first time in the store. They have a lot of great items. very organized. A cashier named Destiny was very helpful and gave me great customer service. She had a positive attitude. She told me about the discount days. And gave me all the information I needed to donate. Overall great first time experience. Definitely will be telling my friends about this place. read more
