After combing threw a few stores for Black Friday sales, I came up empty handed until I reached J Crew. Much of the store was sales rich, i.e. 50-60% off. I was giddy at seeing all the sales signs. They were stocked with many variety of sweaters - plain and Christmas in a variety of textures and materials. They also had a plethora of new items since my last visit. In the last few weeks, I have been on the hunt for dark chocolate (fall trending color) suede shoes and a handbag. Today was my lucky day for dark chocolate suede shoes. Yes, I purchased them at 60% off the ticketed price...that's the good news. The bad news is that they have to be ordered online via the store. I received expedited shipping and therefore can receive my shoes as early as tomorrow but no later than Monday. Yay!!! While this was not best Black Friday sales run, even one item at a good price brings me great joy!

Considering the price point of the merchandise, I expected at least some level of customer service, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There were two sales associates present, yet I wasn't offered any assistance. As a first-time customer, it was frustrating not knowing about sizing, where the fitting room was located, or what items were available. The lack of engagement really took away from the experience. I was surprised to see the assortment of disposable cameras. Really cool that those are making a comeback, but not enjoying the price point lol. I love all of the eclectic trinkets they have! Just a few that stuck out: mini pool ashtray, a duck, jewelry tray, denim jeans planter, flamingo mug. Very fun and different! They had a wonderful selection of Baggu! They were also appropriately priced and not hiked up! They have a few books, and some records. I do feel some other locations might have a bit more, but they had a decent amount. As a result, the shorts I ordered are now out of stock and they canceled my order. i ordered multiple pairs for my coworkers to wear on a certain day and now we can't. This is frustrating and doesn't make any sense to sell the shorts in store when someone already ordered them for pickup online. I understand it's not the employee's faults but this is pretty dumb in my opinion.

Hence, Free People Movement is now a separate store in the Domain, a short 7 minute walk from the *huge* Free People collection store. Is this good, when I'm already fairly addicted to this clothing line? Um...yes. There's a sparkly, inviting energy about the Movement store. Maybe it's the decor, maybe it's the friendly and helpful staff, maybe both. If you like to work out at a gym or at home, or run, or dance, or hike, or practice yoga, or take long walks, they have comfortable, creative clothes that will make you look like a fashionable badass while you're at it, and while you're lounging about afterward. Since I've been working from home, I've picked up a few more of those cool lounging styles, which are cute and comfy enough to wear anywhere, all day, every day. I no longer scare the delivery guy. There's a plethora of supportive and comfortable tops, sports bras, leggings, shorts, flowing tops, cover ups, hoodies, sweats, jackets, athletic and hiking boots, bags, slings, and accessories, all in beautiful mix and match colors. And if you find something you want but they don't have it in store in that size or color, they will order it for you at the counter and have it shipped to your home, free. You know you don't have to ask me how I know this. There's also a wellness section with some interesting supplements and a few exercise accessories. The Domain is a veritable rambling maze of shops that call to mind the gardens of Versailles, so if you're heading there, you can park in the Pink lot, third floor, and be super close to the Free People Movement store. It's a great place to start, anyway. We all need a little more movement in our lives, after all of this lounging around. Might as well look our best.

As someone who goes shopping for clothes only to replace old, worn…read moreclothing, or to search for an article of clothing that meets specific criteria, I tend to look for durable, quality materials, weight of the fabric, construction, color, and feel. I look at zipper construction, button construction, and inspect the stitching. The three times that I've ended up purchasing items here, the staff here have been extremely helpful in searching for items or looking for specific colors or sizes. I've never witnessed them selling or attempting to sell, as their items are able to sell themselves. Since they are what one might call athleisure, for each clothing type (whether shorts, pants, shirts, jackets, etc), they usually have multiple variants, including those made of different weighted fabrics, offered in a palette of colors. I have found their clothes to be functional (e.g. multiple pockets, including extra zipper pockets) and durable. That said I've only worn their higher weight fabric clothing. They do have a fitting room with several stalls. And the staff working there are more than happy to offer and assist you in retrieving extra items from the store. Checkout is also a breeze; they tend to do electric receipts via email, although print outs are possible. I think their pricing is fair. According to the frequency with which I wear the purchases from here, I seem to be getting good value and utility out of the clothing here. Also, their fabrics are quite comfortable.

That said, the staff at this store is so unfriendly and so unhelpful. They seem to communicate with one another on cell phones, and you're more apt to see them nose down in their phones than actually talking to customers. They always have a couple staff at the front of the store, presumably greeters, who do not greet and are not welcoming. The only real friendly, nice service is during checkout. Is the brand teaching their staff to be too cool for their customers? Or is it just this store?

Under Aritzia's shipping contract, they are responsible for ensuring delivery or issuing a refund or replacement when the carrier fails. Despite providing documentation from FedEx and escalating multiple times to Aritzia customer service and even CEO/investor relations, Aritzia has ignored all requests to issue a refund or replacement. This is clearly a failure to meet contractual obligations, and repeated attempts to resolve the issue through customer service or escalation channels were deflected or ignored. Customers should be aware that orders may not be honored even when the shipping failure is the carrier's fault and fully documented. I'm still waiting for the $200+ Aritzia owes me. Let's see if Jennifer Wong responds to my email.
